  • Doog

I’m kind of surprised that they didn’t even display the Endor (+Bly) 5 POA figures. It makes me hope that Hasbro will update their showroom tomorrow. Not expect, mind you, but hope.

    • GTB

Don’t expect anything from Hasbro in regards to Star Wars and you will always be on point.

      • Doog

Hasbro has done too much cool stuff for me to let them off easy. BAD, a legion of Jawas plus droids, the BMF, Wuher (twice), 7″ Unleashed, that vintage collection Emperor’s Royal Guard . . . . Over the years, Hasbro has delivered some great toys. I’m going to keep beating the drum for more.

        • GTB

I sincerely admire your undying loyalty. Let’s hope they surprise us both.

  • Rob Redahl

So they’ve gone back to using the Galactic Heroes name. They were called something else a year or two, weren’t they? Jedi Force, or some such thing?
I’ve always had a soft spot for GH and heartily welcome a return to the line.

    • Bombadgungan

They evolved from 0-POA Galactic Hero figurines to 5-POA Jedi Force action figures. I never really got into GH. Just have a couple of sets. Endor Luke with Speeder Bike for one.

      • Rob Redahl

Man, the last thing I wanted to do was buy into those GH. I recall musing on how cute they were, but not cute enough to start forking out money for them. I have neither the budget nor the space to collect everything that tickles my SW itch.
But then they began putting out certain characters that I could not resist, and I made an exception. Then another exception. Then another.
I went from “Oh, this is too adorable to pass up” to “well, 17 is a lonely number. I’ll buy these 3 packs and make it a nice, square 20!”
The things we tell ourselves, eh?

  • Paulskywalker

Just re-reading all the comments, heck of a lot of over-reaction just because they are clearly holding back. I think there is a job position in my area for a mad person with a sandwiche board, ‘we’re all doomed!!’.
Maybe see this as a positive that they want us to have some surprises, which would be nice since modern media spoils everything. And maybe see all this varuious activity that maybe, just maybe 3 3/4 inch and 6 inch will improve. Maybe Disney have said they want all out for TFA and the later part of the year. Yes we got a TFA Poster in the Hasbro section this time, but lets see what the event holds as they build up the big event. It’s only February after all.

    • Rob Redahl

My sandwich board will read THE BLASTED END IS NIGH!
Just make sure not to work my corner, okay? = )

Seriously, I admire your positivity. I’m not ready to throw in the towel, not by a long shot.

    • Rivesjunctionite

I agree. They’re definitely holding back for TFA. In previous movie years, they’ve had sneak peeks b/c the toys would be out in a few months, but this time they have to wait until Fall for the new toys.

I’m just confused why they didn’t even show Mosep in the display. Please Hasbro, don’t mess with my Mosep. It’s the only thing I’m looking forward to this year (besides TFA)

    • Bombadgungan

I did my damnedest to keep a positive attitude through 2013 and 2014, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that all the doom & gloomers have drug me down. I truly have come to believe, real or imagined, that 3.75″ super-articulated collector figures are on their way out for good. A relic of a more civilized age?

  • AdamATL

I won’t waste a cent on Mashers, and I doubt they’ll go far. (They might find a niche like Galactic Heroes, but little more.)

    • bmales01

my kids would like em. the basic line is so small and no articulation and the weapons are tiny.

these look like stylized 6 inch for kids. but for adults?

      • AdamATL

Galactic Heroes is so much cooler for kids! Awesome little guys.

        • bmales01

I agree but they dont have the selection they once did and I am not paying big bucks for kids toys

my kids have a few Galactic heroes

  • ZOMb2010 .

What a bunch of plastic Crap……wow have times changed…!!!!!

  • Sean Farley

RIP Star Wars line 3″ line, 20 years isnt anything to be ashamed about!!

    • Paulskywalker

Normally i moan, just because they haven’t shown 3 3/4 yet doesn’t mean it’s gone away.

      • Sean Farley

well it wasnt shown during their panel. Thats a big sign. Mashers seem to be the only thing they care about

        • Paulskywalker

Apologises i didn’t read the bit that this is the full presentation and they had shown the already know Rebals and 6 inch figures. But even still the investor presentation had 3/34 and 6 inch collector figures mention, plus there is the leaked TFA 6 inch figures. Yeah its a lot more hush hush than i expected but were still getting it. The question will be will it be 5poa rubbish or a revival of the good times?

As for Mashers their showing off a new line its natural, i suppose its the only none secret thing they can show off lately or hasn’t already been revealed.

          • Doog

It seems awkward for the investor presentation to include a slide about TBS – for all ages or something like that – and the Hasbro to show nary a 3.75″ TBS figure.

          • Paulskywalker

Well hopefully they had nothing to show because they are getting their act together with regard to 3 3/4. Maybe most of the year will be light just so when TFA comes they don’t mess up?

          • Doog

Most of Hasbro’s Star Wars team are probably focused on TFA now, and have been for about nine months. But since my favorite part of the hobby is action figures of new OT characters, . . . . Well, it is my lot in life to suffer, apparently.
There could be some sense to having clear pegs come TFA product release time. And not releasing new figures from June onwards would likely accomplish that. Not that I endorse that peg-clearing tactic.

          • Bombadgungan

I think you’re right. There is nothing new to show. Once we get waves 7 & 8 we’ll be done until Ep. VII product starts hitting. I mean we only got 3 waves of TBS last year and those were all in the last quarter.

          • Bombadgungan

Well we know TBS 6″ is for our (adult collector) age. So there’s that. TBS 3.75″ has been the ongoing question mark for some time now. You would think that they would have at least shown the same ones they had at SDCC & NYCC that haven’t hit retail yet. You know, to keep people excited about it.

      • AdamATL

They’re just pulling on the reins until the E7 stampede kicks off.

        • Paulskywalker

No i agree, that’s kind of what i was hinting at.

          • AdamATL

Derryl DePriest once told me (and I can quote this verbatim) “We know that the 3¾” line is our bread and butter.” I doubt that has or ever will change. I think you were standing next to me in the Hasbro showroom in 2011 when some doofus asked if they’d ever do a “vintage style” (meaning 5POA and retro-sculpt) and DePriest said he’d love to see that someday because kids and collectors could get into it. It just wasn’t happening in their plans (at that time). Well, doofus, wherever you are, I hope you’re happy. If anyone knows who this was, please kick him in the nads for me.

          • Paulskywalker

Yeah there was a lot of people over at RS who went on about vintage style figures, they even had polls to see who’d want it. I think they just wanted some sort of vintage style exclusive i reckon. But becareful what you wish for, as Hasbro will force fed you it lol.

          • AdamATL

Oops! You’re not Paul from JTA, so you probably weren’t standing there (unless you were in an alternate universe that Disney has disappeared with a sweep of the evil white glove).

          • Paulskywalker

No i’m not the JTA Paul lol.

          • AdamATL

That doesn’t disprove my alternate universe theory. 😀

  • LadyFerry

    Lame.

    • AdamATL

You said it, sister. I don’t think Hasbro is giving up on 3¾”, but they’re going to throttle back before the onslaught of E7 figures flood in.

  • Paulskywalker

Hang on is that a SW playset is see, all be it GH. Maybe thats a sign were about to finally get some improvement around here?

Those Mashers vechicles maybe handy or 6 inch TBS or customization.

  • Bombadgungan

That Bossk Hero Masher is strangely cute! And is that a Gungan shield I see in Masher Fisto’s hand? Hmm…

    • Paulskywalker

I’m all over them, i find them cute, fun and collectable.

      • Bombadgungan

Oh! And now I see above that I missed Jar Jar is indeed listed under PRESENTATION ANNOUNCEMENTS Star Wars Hero Mashers‪. Woohoo!

        • Rob Redahl

I figured that would catch your eye, my bombad friend ; )
I’m still holding out for a 6″ Jar Jar (or generic Gungan warrior) at some point down the road. With potentially amazing patterns on the skin.
I don’t mind being in the minority, and I’m NOT holding my breath.

          • Darth Eddie

I would totally buy a 6″ Jar Jar Binks. Just think about how fantastic many of the 3.75″ Jar Jars have been over the past fifteen or sixteen years and translate that to a much bigger scale and you’d have one great sculpt. They have to make sure they include all the skin details and stitches and seams in his clothing, though, and give him at least one of his native weapons from the Battle of Naboo. I’m guessing an booma thrower since so many Gungan figures since the Episode I line have come with that weapon.

          • Rob Redahl

Gungans are one of my favourite alien species – to LOOK at, mind you, not necessarily to listen to – and Hasbro could knock ‘ole JJ right outta the park at that scale.
I’m concerned that they won’t make him due to anticipating he wouldn’t sell through enough. They may be right, if that’s their assumption. But you, I and BombadGungan can’t be the only ones who would eagerly embrace him instead of rolling our eyes.

          • Darth Eddie

The TVC/Lost Line Jar Jar sold out fast. Maybe a few of his figures have been retail flops but not that many based on what I’ve seen over the years. The 2001 POTJ figure, for example, was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him release and I never saw the repack of the TCW Jar Jar later in that line.

          • Rob Redahl

The POTJ Jar Jar, is that the one with the collapsed pit droid? I’d love to find that at a comic shop or flea market.

The Lost Line Binks is the only figure I own from that line. He was the only one they had in that packaging, perhaps a misfit leftover.
I was thrilled to bring him home. Love the look of the ‘Lost Line’ and eventually want to complete the line. It may take a while…

          • Darth Eddie

Yeah, the POTJ Jar Jar had the collapsed Pit Droid and the long tongue sticking out of his mouth. It’s limited in what you can do with it and the articulation of 2001 didn’t offer much of a variety of poses but he is one fantastic display item and worth getting if you can find a cheap copy.

          • Bombadgungan

Yes, for sure! I missed/didn’t find POTJ Jar Jar when the line was in stores, but scored myself a copy from eBay a couple years ago. I like him even more than the TPM ’99 figure.

          • Darth Eddie

One of my favorite 3.75″ Jar Jars for sure. An underrated figure that deserved more love and better retail circulation than he got.

          • Bombadgungan

You, me, Darth Eddie and I suspect Marjorie Carvalho of S.W.A.N.

          • Bombadgungan

If 6″ Bossk gets a movable jaw, I expect a separate plug-in extended tongue for Jar Jar. 😉

          • Darth Eddie

That’s a good idea! Hopefully they’ll consider that option if they ever get around to making him in the 6″ scale.

          • Bombadgungan

I finally saw the Jar Jar Hero Masher. Cool! I want one.

Yes, a 6″ Jar Jar would be amazing. Sadly, I think you’re right. We may never see that figure

  • GIBBS v2

Ouch! I guess there is always next year… : (

  • LaurenceQuint

    Hasbro is the worst.

  • Neal Westmoreland

Any word on if there is going to be a closed door nda presentation for The Force Awakens product??

    • Paulskywalker

There was one for the UK and Nuremberg fairs so i expect so.

    • Yes, there is.

  • Doog

Well, that’s ominous for the 3.75″ line.

    • Neal Westmoreland

A trim period isnt that bad of a deal since we know some product will be dropping in the next few months if it can just make it past that dreaded dock issue(Trade Federation Blockade???).

    • Bombadgungan

I just saw the article for TBS 3.75″ wave 7 pre-order. That’s got to be reassuring, right?
