New 3.75″ Exclusive Set Coming from Entertainment Earth

HSB8671lg

Entertainment Earth has teased a new, upcoming exclusive to be revealed tomorrow that features SIX 3.75″ super-articulated figures – five of which are making their action figure debut!

Head on over for the full details. Who do you think will be included in this intriguing set? Leave a comment with your speculation.

  • Wesley Jamie Smith

Imagine that…droids. So much for super-articulated figures. What a freaking joke.

  • Doog

Warwick Davis played Wollivan in TFA, and since Wicket has already been made and there are no Phantom Menace figures, I am saying that Wollivan is one of the six.

  • jedipatrick

I sure hope we’ll be seeing more than Astromech droids. I’m fed up with astromechs. We already have more than enough. They’re the easy way out for Hasbro to pretend they listen to collectors. And they do not qualify as SA figures in my own book. They have at most 5POA. And pretending these would be “never-before-made-as-toys” is an insult to intelligence. A repaint is not sufficient for me to be qualified as a new figure…

    • jedipatrick

The way I see this now knowing the focus is towards droids:
      – 1 Jawa repack (from the TBS line)
      – 3 repaints of astromechs
      – 1 protocol droid repaint or a silver repaint of RA-7
      – 1 repaint of the Gonk Power Droid to match the one we see in Lar’s Homestead
I hope I’m wrong and that we’ll see REAL SA figures. Jabba’s Palace goons. Or Cantina aliens. Or an upgrade to the 2006 Tusken Raider with ball joints everywhere. Or whatever’s NEW. But something tells me it’ll be again a huge letdown…

      • jedipatrick

        Oh and I forgot:

        And ”a brand-new-never-before-seen” display box…

I’m pretty sure this box will be in the shape of a Jawa Sandcrawler.

Makes it a little bit interesting, but for me it’d be a diversion to lure collectors and have them forget that we’re being fed with mere repacks and repaints…

  • Paulskywalker

I thought yay the s/a 3 3/4 inch aren’t near death, but then i thought what if these were original intended for the Walmart exclusives.

    • Richard Grissom Jr.

I thought the same. Maybe Hasbro pulled BS from Walmart and these were left over. Haha!

  • Doog

Easily the most excited I’ve been since TBS started. If the figures are great, this might eclipse my peak excitement from the Vintage Collection era.

  • Michael Croll

The line ‘diodes down your left side tingle’ is from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Marvin, the Paranoid Android said it. Warwick Davis wore the Marvin costume for the feature film that’s all I got.

  • Diverse Range Of Interesting Dudes.

  • Greg Sanders

I have mine pre-ordered. No idea what the theme could be though, but the promise of accessories and SA just makes it less likely to be droids, IMO. Can’t really call astromechs super articulated. Unless the theme is Skywalkers, given Tatooine. But it references Coruscant, and pals, and dudes, and a sandcrawler. I’m excited either way. Really looking forward to tomorrow. Any ideas on the time of the reveal?

  • Ok , just noticed the astromech outline in the image, so I guess we are getting something with droids, possibly from the Droids cartoon?

    • EntEarthAdam

I wish! If I had Vlix or the Fromm Gang do you think I would do anything less than rent a popemobile and shout it in the streets? …probably, we don’t have that big of a marketing budget.

  • Chuck McMenamin

    Am I close, Adam?
    1. Lars homestead Gonk

    2. 2nd Mosep alien without topknot

    3. R3 yellow & orange from outside Dex’s Diner

    4. Klaatu (Skiff Guard)

    5. Yoxgit ugnaught from Jabba’s palace

    6. Wiorkettle Snaggletooth from Cloud City

    • EntEarthAdam

Interesting, but I don’t see a unified theme.

      • Chuck McMenamin

The theme I was going for are “Figures Hasbro should make because Chuck wants them”

  • chad

I am going to wait to see what’s in the set tomorrow. If its cool I may bit.

  • Tzizvvt, Melas, General Hudsol, Sim Aloo, Dorme….wishful thinking list!

    • Daniel Fiers

      Sim Aloo would be great!

      • Bombadgungan

Yes please! He’s been done as a toy before, classic Kenner POTF. So that would cross off the 1 that isn’t all new, leaving the other five figures that have never been made as toys.

        • Daniel Fiers

Yeah we really need him to be updated

    • EntEarthAdam

      There’s no theme there, though.

    • Thats not wishful thinking…that asking the Almighty for a favor because HE owes you one.

  • SlothFromHoth

Adam’s got me seeing faces in weird places.

    • Emperor was a jerk

      Reminds me of Benson!

    • That is literally the funniest thing I have seen today!

    • Rykrof_Enloe

      I cannot un-see that now.

  • Rich Komissar

Pre-ordered sight unseen. I’ll take anything remotely resembling a figure from 2011 at this point…

  • Adam Holt

At this point I don’t much care who it is, if it is new super articulated figures I’m already sold.

  • mic windu

has this got a uk distributor? I want it and to see a set like this for each filM

  • Greg Sanders

I really want to pre-order, but I don’t want a pack of droids. This is tempting, though, if it turns out to be a very lucrative exclusive. If it’s not droids, EE will have my order.

    • Daniel Fiers

You can cancel EE preorders without penalty so doing it now won’t hurt and will send Hasbro a message

      • Greg Sanders

Really? Why not then! Does EE charge immediately or when shipped?

        • Daniel Fiers

          When shipped

        • MyenShi

          When shipped. 🙂

    • Bombadgungan

At first I was really thinking this was a droid pack (which I was excited about), however I’m starting to have my doubts. With 5 of the figures in this set being made as a toy for the first time, that eliminates a huge chunk of “key” droids from the Saga. Some obscure background characters would be cool. Sim Aloo! There are still skiff guards and cantina patrons that have not been done. Tzizvvt for one.

  • Eric

Thrawn could be a possibility, especially with the recent announcement about him coming back into canon.

    • Daniel Fiers

Except Adam said there won’t be a Rebels or EU figure

      • EntEarthAdam

No Rebels or Rogue One. EU is tougher to define these days.

        • Paul

Also thrawn already had a figure in a comic two pack.

  • Eric

I’m secretly hoping for the Tonnika Sisters to be included. Maybe they worked out the legal issues finally.

    • EntEarthAdam

I’m good but I’m not that good.

      • Eric

Worth a shot… Any more hints?

        • EntEarthAdam

There are some hints in the description.

          • Daniel Fiers

Will we get pics of the figures during SDCC or just a list of what they’ll be?

          • EntEarthAdam

You will most likely see these before the weekend.

  • Lloyd Wynn

HASBRO would be forgiven it was MODAL NODS and WUHER.

    • EntEarthAdam

There are characters from Tatooine who might not be too far from those locations, but there are characters from other planets too.

      • Lloyd Wynn

It is probably something for the adult collector, so some of the figures could be popular and main characters we have been waiting for.

        • EntEarthAdam

Generally speaking Hasbro does not debut main characters as an exclusive. It has been known to happen from time to time, but rarely for their toy debut. I don’t really see anything we’ve done as being specifically the adult collector, but I always aspire to do something good for the fan who has seen it all and also wants it all.

          • Lloyd Wynn

Thank you for replying and sharing this information, Adam.

…the Modal Nods + Wuher set, would make a good one! 😉

      • MyenShi

Finally, the super articulated Shmi, Kitster, and assorted slave children multipack we’ve all been waiting for.

        • Lloyd Wynn

          Hahaha! 😉

  • Daneil Fiers

The hints make that highly unlikely at this point

    • Sithless

      Hope you’re right.

  • Rogue 13

I’m guessing D-Squad with the frog-like Colonel Gascon.

    • EntEarthAdam

I haven’t gotten my Walter Matthau impression down yet.

    • Bombadgungan

Interesting idea, but that wouldn’t exactly “span the saga” would it?

  • Daneil Fiers

Sure hope this isn’t a droid set like people are speculating on JTA

  • Meesa_Mike

So desperate for new SA, I preordered already. Something I would never do before the miserable days of the Black Series. THX Ent. Earth for picking this up. Sure hope they bring us back to the glory days of collecting. Fingers crossed.

    • Daneil Fiers

I preordered it too. I can always cancel if it turns out to be lame. I hope this is the first of many exclusive sets and SA 3.75 figures

  • Trovovo

“From Tatooine to Coruscant” makes me think Episode 1, although the sandcrawler in the image makes me think otherwise.

    • Daneil Fiers

It says it spans the whole saga also

    • EntEarthAdam

I wouldn’t read into the Sandcrawler too much. But I will do you the benefit of saying that nothing in here is (intentionally, if at all) from Episode I.

      • The description is pretty broad, does the set have a theme outside being based on the Saga films (minus Ep 1)?

        • EntEarthAdam

Yes! I love the description I wrote.

      • John Lindquist

I’m guessing the “diodes down your left side” line is a reference to Marvin the Paranoid Android, who was played by Warwick Davis, which got me momentarily excited for Wald’s inclusion here. Oh well.

        • EntEarthAdam

You did catch an intentional reference! Your interpretation is most interesting.

  • Paul

While this is cool and all I would love to see Rebels cast done in SA 3.75.

    • bmales01

      me too

      • So saying that Yakface doesn’t load for you was a lie? What else do you lie about?

        • bmales01

Everything I said was true honey

You’re the most beautiful woman ever and I am lucky to have you…

Sorry, I had a flashback and my mind went into reflex mode

  • Paul

My guess is droids that are first seen in the sandcrawler and then pop up at various times during other parts of the film series. Although I thought most if not all of those had been made as figures at one point or another.

    • bmales01

I think most have been made

      many came with Jawas

    • Bombadgungan

Could it be remnants of the long rumored “Droid Factory set”? (That was a rumored thing, right?) Build-A-Droid parts that make up specific Saga astromechs and protocols, but not necessarily from the Sandcrawler?

      • Paul

That’s what some people are suggesting and it would make sense.

  • Wesley Jamie Smith

I bet it will be 5POA crap.

    • read the description

      • Wesley Jamie Smith

I read that and still missed it. OMG! I can’t wait!!!

        • Daneil Fiers

Its gonna be great (I hope). SA, brand new figures from the original trilogy and potentially PT and Clone Wars!

        • In all fairness, I missed the SA initially too. It should be all capitals and bolded!

    • EntEarthAdam

      Nope. Sorry to disappoint!

      • Wesley Jamie Smith

I know. I read the description and still missed it. I guess I am just so use to the 5POA crap by now that the “super-articulated” didn’t register.

  • bmales01

    thank you Adam

  • Daneil Fiers

OMG, OMG, OMG!!! A 3.75 exclusive with new figures!

  • Sithless

Ok, this has me extremely intrigued! 5 figures making their action figure debut? Could this be a Rogue One set of main characters plus Vader? That would be cool.

    • Daneil Fiers

In the description it says its characters from the OT, but spanning the whole saga. the word saga is only used to describe the trilogy movies, so this being a Rogue One set seems unlikely. Also in the description it calls them dudes, potentially meaning these are all male characters, eliminating Rogue One since Jyn is a main character. Maybe the picture is a clue?

EDIT: It also says they are making there movie-style debut. Perhaps Clone Wars or Rebels characters in a realistic style.

      Here is the description:
From Tatooine to Coruscant, this exclusive is about to land on Earth! Details regarding this amazing item are yet to come, but you need to pre-order yours right now. The boxed set features a gorgeous display box unlike anything Hasbro has ever done before, and it brings you six 3 3/4-inch scale action figures making their movie-style figure debut. Five of these figures have never been made as toys! The characters date back as far as the original Star Wars movie and span the saga’s rich history, bringing home a diverse range of interesting dudes. These plastic pals will be revealed in full by Hasbro at Comic-Con International in San Diego this week, and we know they will make all the diodes down your left side tingle!

      • EntEarthAdam

I would say the description is stuffed with hints. I’ll do you one better and say zero Rogue One items are included (at least as far as I know, unless the Rogue One team is going to surprise us.)

        • Daneil Fiers

You work for Entertainment Earth and know what the set includes I assume? I am so excited to be getting a (potentially) awesome 3.75″ exclusive multipack again. I’m 16 so I wasn’t old enough to be dropping money on multipacks when they were popular in the past. And yes, I got the perception that the description was one hint after another

          • EntEarthAdam

I work at Entertainment Earth in exclusive development. I’m pretty excited about this one, as it is relevant to my interests.

          • Daneil Fiers

Oh that’s cool, sounds like a fun job. I understand if you can’t say or don’t know, but what day of Comic Con will Hasbro announce the contents? I’m so excited for this. It brightened a very sad day

          • EntEarthAdam

Comic-Con starts tomorrow! I don’t know what might leak before the show officially opens, though.

          • Daneil Fiers

I don’t really know how Comic Con works. Is it like Celebration Europe where stuff is revealed in panels or is everything unveiled on the opening day?

          • EntEarthAdam

Both – and sometimes pictures get out before the doors open, too. Sometimes there are new announcements every day.

          • Daneil Fiers

Well I can’t wait. I haven’t been this excited about Star Wars collecting for a while! Its refreshing to not be getting 5POA garbage

          • EntEarthAdam

5 POA is pretty great! I love what they did in 2013-2015. Getting figures out for $6 again – or $5 in the 2-packs – is no small feat in this era of inflation. Money is tight and I really love how some of the things turned out. Yoda and R2-D2 for $10.99ish? Awesome.

          • General Hux

FINALLY! Someone that likes 5poa, too!

          • Bombadgungan

            Hey, me three! 🙂

But the key word there is “too”. As in “not instead of” 3.75″ super articulated.

          • General Hux

            Indeed

          • EntEarthAdam

One of the rubs of this business is the need for diversification conflicts with the desire to have One True Scale. Not everybody wants 3 3/4-inch figures, so we see Unleashed, Black Series, Galactic Heroes, Action Fleet, and so on and so forth – it’s in any toy maker’s best interests to try a bunch of things. Having multiple competing SKUs can be good in some respects (more shelf space for more figures – especially 2006-2009) but it can also result in Hasbro competing with Hasbro for Star Wars dollars. The 6-inch figures and 3 3/4-inch figures don’t necessarily go to the same audience, and over time things go back and forth. Marvel has seen push and pull with its many sizes, and, well, here we are. To the average buyer, a 4-inch $6 figure may not be superior to another 4-inch $13 figure – therein lies the complication. I suspect we’ll see lots more push and pull but if you look across other lines, well, dollars aren’t what they used to be. The $10 Transformers toy of 1996 is very different from what you can get today, with features coming and going and complexity and deco ebbing and flowing depending on the era. It’s never perfect, my “Good Old Days” may be your garbage era, but I can say the last 19 (almost 20) years have been pretty good to me at least. We just can’t have everything.

          • Perfectly stated.

          • I’m extremely thankful for you and EE stepping up and giving collectors not only SA 3 3/4″ figures (which Wal*Mart has failed miserably at doing) but also giving us new characters from the OT! Very excited about this one!

          • Daneil Fiers

They could be from the PT or ST too. It says they span the whole saga

          • General Hux

Hey, Jake! I’m loving Toy Run podcast!

          • Thank you! Its lots of fun to talk action figures each week! This week will be a dozy!

          • General Hux

            Sounds good!

      • Sithless

If these are SA movie style Rebels figures that no one asked for, I’m gonna be disappointed. So many other SA figures the collector community wants before Rebels.

        • EntEarthAdam

OK, one more hint. Nobody from Rebels. (Unless they put the contents of this set in Rebels and I missed it.)

        • EntEarthAdam

A quick PS – after several thousand figures, there really is no unified voice in the collector’s community. We’re very diverse – there are many factions. In the 1990s, if you loved figures you grew up on the original trilogy. The only real “split” happened about halfway through Return of the Jedi – some fans threw up their arms after the Rebels landed on Endor, meaning no Ewok telefilms, no Star Tours, no Ewoks/Droids, etc. And some (like me) were all in.

Then we got the new Expanded Universe. And the prequels. And the TV shows. Also KOTOR and other video games. If the recent Fan’s Choice has showed me anything, it’s that we’re unpredictable – I really expected Rebels and The Force Awakens to run away with all of the votes, and yet here we are – mostly Expanded Universe.

Today? It’s worse than getting a room of people to decide on a single pizza configuration. It’s good because there can be endless variety – but if this set contains Figure X, someone may be disappointed that it’s not Figure Y. Understandable, but that doesn’t mean Hasbro won’t get to it later. I mean, we waited 20 years for Grand Moff Tarkin. I’m not going anywhere.

          • Bombadgungan

If only there were more fans out there who were accepting of others. Too many fans these days believe they rule Star Wars and it should be what they want and ONLY what they want. They spend more time deriding and berating then they do enjoying the hobby and celebrating those aspects that appeal to them. It really drags the whole hobby down in my eye.

          • Rivesjunctionite

That is a brilliant, prescient comment. That’s exactly what happened. People were expecting figure X and were disappointed with figure Y. It’s almost like you have some insider knowledge of the toy industry.

      • EntEarthAdam

I would definitely pay very close attention to the description.

        • Paul B

          A grey INC finally?

    • EntEarthAdam

      Nope. Neat idea, though!

      • General Hux

        Any TFA charactets involved?
(please say yes, please say yes).

        • EntEarthAdam

          Yes! (No.)

          • General Hux

Thanks for giving me false hope!…Now I must go cry in a corner for two hours. (JK)
