  • Jason A. Martin

Aaww, it’s 3.75″… should have scaled to the 6″.

  • don

I personally do not like Toywiz being able to sell these on Walmarts website. Stores in my area cannot even get theses for the collectors.

  • don

Funny how Walmart doesn’t sell their own item on their site but toywiz does. That is why i do not buy from them.

  • Michael Williams

I found two at a Wal-Mart in Round Rock, Texas near Austin.

    • 1Andy_Simon2

Hey I’m in round rock, which location?

      • Michael Williams

I35 and Louis Henna Blvd. There’s one left!

  • forget chicken walkers, I want the tank!

    • RumDumb

Yeah I gotta that would be the best R1 vehicle but AT-STs are so damn cool

      • No doubt, I’ll still get one.

  • RumSleg

[Rant.] @#$^&()*$#%. Why is the pack-in figure just the AT-ST driver from Endor, and not one of the new cool armored driver figures from Rebels or Rogue One? I was perfectly happy with the AT-ST driver from Endor and the AT-AT driver from Hoth, and I didn’t *want* there to be all these new uniform designs for vehicles that were similar to what we’ve known for 30+ years and which existed in the same era, but they barreled ahead with those needlessly new designs and created the AT-DP driver in Rebels and the new AT-ACT driver and the new Hovertank driver in Rogue One. And now, after I’ve finally warmed to these new designs, and given the perfect opportunity to include one as a pack-in, Hasbro has reverted back to the Endor design. ARGH.

If they’d packed in a super-articulated AT-ACT driver, Hovertank driver, or realistic AT-DP driver with this set, it would’ve been irresistible.

    • Bombadgungan

But Rum, as cool as those new troopers/drivers would have been in s/a 3.75″ format, they would be incorrect for this particular vehicle, the AT-ST.

      • RumSleg

Nah. By Rogue One’s logic, you could easily do a variation of the Hovertank Driver or AT-ACT driver and call it a “Jedha AT-ST Driver”. It would make as much sense as the Scarif Troopers, Death Troopers, AT-ACT Driver, Hovertank Driver, TIE Strikers, and everything else that we never saw in the OT but apparently existed just off screen.

IMO, they’ve blown the door wide open for this sort of thing by replacing AT-ST drivers with the helmeted AT-DP drivers in Rebels and making AT-ACT drivers look vastly different from the ESB AT-AT drivers.

        • Bombadgungan

I don’t get it. It sounds like you’re poo pooing the fact that RO introduced things that differed from what we saw in episodes IV-VI. So by that logic you should be thrilled this AT-ST includes a “real” (read OT) Imperial character and not some made up fantasy character (read anything not OT). Do we even know this TBS AT-ST is from Rogue One? Aren’t they talking elsewhere that this is part of Hasbro’s 40 Ann. celebration?

          • RumSleg

I was initially against all the new designs, because in some cases it seemed implausible (e.g. an AT-AT driver on Hoth having different armor from an AT-ACT driver on Scarif) and because in some cases I didn’t like the design choices (I prefer Imperial trooper armor to be white, so I didn’t like the tan Scarif Trooper armor. If white armor was good enough for the Stormtroopers and Biker Scouts on Endor, it should have been good enough for the Scarif troops).

However, as I said in my original post, I’ve now warmed to these new designs (been spending a lot of time with the new visual guide). So at this moment I personally would much prefer getting a new SA-armored driver over a repacked AT-ST driver. I also suspect an all-new driver would help the set sell much better than a repack.

If we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of ANH, this release is a little odd because the vehicle isn’t from ANH and is only 34 years old. If we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of “Star Wars”, a Rogue One figure seems just as valid a choice as a ROTJ figure.

        • Bombadgungan

If RO introduced a new look for the AT-ST Driver I’d be all for packing it with this release, however I wouldn’t want a Hover Tank Driver or AT-ACT Driver with my AT-ST any more than I’d want an AT-AT Driver or Biker Scout packed with it instead of the proper pilot/driver.

But… on the other hand, maybe getting a new trooper sculpted in super-articulated format for the first time would would outweigh whether or not it was a correct match for the vehicle it’s paired with?

      • CT-7567

You do have a point. But still, they could’ve included a second figure like a rebel commando or something to source it to RO. A commando woukd be a pretty easy kit-bash.

        • Bombadgungan

Sure, you could kit bash a “kinda sorta” Rebel Commando. The question is, would Lucasfilm licensing ever approve it? Although there are bits and pieces of the RO commando uniforms that are evocative of the Endor commandos, there is very little if anything that is actually the same.

    • Well, imagine if they had tooled a new cockpit lid with an accurate opening hatch and railing? people would have been foaming at the mouth!

    • CT-7567

Well said. I guess the white stripes on the dock make this AT-ST from RO, but a pack-in figure from the film would really make this much more desirable. A lot of people that might pass on this because they already have it would buy it just to get a new RO SA figure.

      • Bombadgungan

I still have not seen anything with this vehicle or packaging that sources it to Rogue One. I think it’s just generic “Saga”. It’s like releasing a standard issue TIE. It could be from any number of films.

I’m not sure what the “dock” is, but the only “white stripes” I see are the clear bands used to hold the cockpit in place in the box.

        • CT-7567

I meant cockpit. Sorry, my auto suggest had been going nuts lately. I guess what I was seeing as stripes are the rubber bands. Well, like you say it could be from any film with an AT-ST in it. I’ll just pretend it’s RO. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • If you look at the Visual Guide book for Rogue One, the AT-ST page features the helmet for the driver for AT-ST and it is the same as the helmet from the ROTJ Drivers. So, from as certain point of view, this still could be a Rogue One vehicle.

Another fact from the book is that the “Hovertank” isn’t a hovertank at all. It is a tread-driven vehicle. So, all of the merchandise (Hasbro, LEGO) with the Hovertank descriptor is incorrect.

      • RumSleg

You are correct about the AT-ST driver helmet in the visual guide. I was disappointed when I saw that, as I fully expected some variation on one of the new helmets that would have included a full facemask.

Re: the tank in the visual guide, Pablo was careful to note that there are treaded and hover versions of the same vehicle (I don’t have the book in front of me, but I think the two versions were the GAVr and the GAVw, or something like that), so the tank pilot we saw in the movie also pilots hovertanks. Therefore, the TRU-exclusive 6″ figure is still technically correctly named, and the LEGO toy can be considered an off-screen vehicle.

I wonder if the treaded tank was originally supposed to be a hovertank in the movie (hence the Hasbro and Lego toys) but was changed to a treaded tank for design, story or cost reasons.

  • RumSleg

Whoa, this came out of nowhere!

  • Bombadgungan

So how many is this now that have been released of this mold? Five?

2009 Legacy Collection (red) AT-ST Walmart exclusive
2010 Shadow of the Dark Side Attack on Hoth Battle Pack Target exclusive
2012 The Vintage Collection Scout Walker Kmart exclusive
2014 The Black Series (blue) Battle On Endor Battle Pack TRU exclusive
2017 The Black Series (red) Imperial AT-ST Walker Walmart exclusive

    • How many times for the old kenner mold?

      • Bombadgungan

Wow, now that’s going to require some research!

      • Bombadgungan

Here’s what I can remember. I’m likely forgetting one or two, but it’s a start.

        Kenner TESB Scout Walker Vehicle
        Kenner ROTJ Scout Walker Vehicle
        POTF2 (red) Imperial AT-ST
POTJ Imperial AT-ST & Speeder Bike (w/Paploo) TRU exclusive?
TAC Battle of Hoth Ultimate Battle Pack Target exclusive
TAC Battle of Endor Ultimate Battle Pack Target exclusive

        • Wow more than I thought there would be. Thanks a lot!

    • 80sRobot

It’s a great mold. No need to fix what ain’t broke. Reissuing it for a new generation of collectors and kids is cool. Makes it a timeless toy.

      • Bombadgungan

I agree. I hope my comment didn’t sound like I was complaining about a rerelease.

  • Chris Lastovich

This is killer! Not that I have extra money but I hope this is a sign of things to come for 2017 Hasbro releases.

  • Additional detailed pics over in the Rebelscum Forums

    • Bombadgungan

Thanks for the link Jayson. And now I have one question. How is it that you managed to link directly to the forum page regarding this article when Rebelscum can figure out how to do that with ANY of the articles on their homepage?

    • General Hux

Really digging this baby, looking forward to buying a couple.

  • Fiery Little One

I might pick this up. I mean, it’s not lie they’ll release one of the bigger units in the Black Series, regardless of scale.

    • Bombadgungan

What do you mean by bigger units? A TBS 6″ AT-ST? Or do you mean a bigger ship in TBS 3.75″, such as the AT-ACT, Krennic’s Shuttle or even U-Wing or X-Wing?

      • Fiery Little One

I was thinking either AT-AT or AT-ACT when I said that. And ‘regardless of scale’ means either 3.75″ *or* 6″.

  • General Hux

Judging by what the vehicle looks like in Rogue One and the images on the back of the packaging I would say this is a Rogue One AT-ST.

  • Epc

Wonder why they used an old AT-ST Pilot figure for promo pics but hey at least the actual included figure is more superior in terms of sculpt and articulation.

  • SID

wonder if this comes with the middle launchers this time.

    • Bombadgungan

Man, I really wanted this! But since they couldn’t even bother retooling it to include the most up to date Nerf weaponry, I’ll pass.

      LOL! Totally kidding.

      • SID

Saw this a little over a week ago two put on shelf in front of me. Damaged/crushed packages and didn’t look different enough from the org. Wal-Mart one I found at a ROSS for $14 some years ago. Sure a better figure but its also a repack and only 1 driver.
@ $60 I just shook my head and spent that same amount on a pile of SW clearance vehicles 4 isles over.

  • Sith Lord Jacen

cut the price in 1/2 and i”ll buy

  • Return of the Chicken Walker!

  • General Hux

There looks to be some sand weathering, I bet this could be inspired by the one on Jedha in Rogue One?

  • Bombadgungan

    What the Mustafar???

Well this is completely out of left field! I never would have expected this. Makes for a nice tie in with Rogue One though.

Now for a reality check. This item will never show up at my Walmart. I’m still waiting for exclusive TBS 6″ Battlefront Shock Trooper and Scarif Stormtrooper. Oh yeah, and my Walmart never even had the first version (Legacy Collection) of this AT-ST.

  • This is a pleasant surprise.

  • mimay1

    SKU would be nice please…:)

    • Working on it

    • UPC 630509536498 / item 133811432

      • mimay1

Thank you Jayson; not in my area yet but $59.99 confirmed…

      • General Hux

Thanks man, checking the number now!

      • General Hux

Edited my comment on the other site, sorry for the misunderstanding, thanks for all your service. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • wasn’t in reference to you. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • General Hux

            Ah, okay. Lol ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Zachary Hering

Nice. I’d buy if a little cheaper. I wish I could get driver in 6 inch scale.

    • Bombadgungan

But then you’d want a 6-inch scale AT-ST to go with him. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Zachary Hering

Nah I hate collecting vehicles and it would be too expensive

  • Matthew Ruch

    Can’t wait to get this!!!

    • Bombadgungan

Do you own any of the earlier releases Matthew?

      • Matthew Ruch

Just one and it looks lonely (:

  • Rykrof_Enloe

I have at least 5-6 of this walker mold. Do I need more? Not really. But if it’s got some new deco, I’ll bite… hopefully the legs are more stable on this one. And would be great if the figure has a new head sculpt.

    • Bombadgungan

You took the words right out of my mouth. For as cool as it is too see Hasbro put this out, I have to ask myself if I personally need another. I only have two, the Legacy version and TVC version (I passed on the most recent TRU Black Series Battle Pack), but still. Like you say, if the paint job is different and if the driver has a new head, I may bite. And yes, let’s hope they’ve fixed the legs.

    • LaurenceQuint

      That seems….excessive.

      ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • PeakOB1

I have a bad feeling about this, If i were a betting man, i’m going to say this is the same exact toy they released in the 2014 black series TRU exclusive box set!
Same legs maybe even the same deco while i’m not here to stand against Hasbro, I don’t think they are spending any money on improving old product they are trying to re-re-sell for the fifth time! and whats with the figure on the back of the box, is that the at-st driver from what 2010 with swivel arms?

  • Mateo Galvez

    Take my money!!!

    • General Hux

I thought someone hacked my account for second when I looked at your profile pic.

      Phew

      • Mateo Galvez

Lol wow, just realized we have the same picture haha. My apologies General.
I’m really surprised this came out, I wonder if Walmart will be releasing more Black Series vehicles.

  • bmales01

Which AT-ST Driver is included? I assume it is not new, but curious since they made a bunch of head sculpts for this guy.
But $60 for this good TBS AT-ST mold and an assumedly SA figure is not bad at all. And Yazflow actually used their brain putting out a mold they already have with a vehicle that appears in R1. Common sense lives!

    • You can speak Hasbro’s name here.

      • bmales01

I need to stay in character at all times, lest I slip up and say the forbidden words at an inappropriate site.

  • Mike

I wonder if this is a repack from the Endor set from a few years ago?? My wallet half-way hopes so.

    • Probably a slight repaint

      • Cody Brown

The Black Series Endor set was basically the TVC one and had the large horizontal Battle damage on the “face”, this seems to be closer to the Legacy one than the Endor set one but this is all based on a grainy photo ๐Ÿ˜›

  • Mike

I wonder if this is a repack from the Endor set from a few years ago??

  • Boba Fettuccini

That’s not a bad price given what basic line vehicles and black series figures have been costing

  • Adam Holt

    Homerun Hasbro!
