Recent 3.75″ Figure Assortment Cancelled?

A few days ago, Robot Kingdom posted a new case assortment of 3.75″ figures featuring a mix of Rogue One and Rebels characters that included Fenn Rau (Star Wars Rebels), Imperial Death Trooper Specialist (Rogue One), Admiral Raddus (Rogue One)Shoretrooper (Rogue One), Galen Erso (Rogue One) and Lieutenant Sefla (Rogue One). We have intel that this case is being cancelled.

Now, before the requests for Hasbro to be decimated from low orbit (like Scarif Citadel), we have heard that the figures themselves are not cancelled, so it just may be that the case assortment (figures included and number of each) is different than originally set.  More as this develops….

Since we’re bitching about RO, how many other collectors were looking for a clean-all White “Star Wars” logo before realizing the “scratched-look” is the official logo.

  • Firestick User

I was at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas today. The Episode VIII First Order Stormtroopers are now Half Black on the right-side of the helmet (if you were standing in front of one) and the left shoulder is also black. Hasbro certainly can’t sell the same toys from 2015.

    • I’ve heard about that design, any pics?

      • General Hux

So that’s why you posted that Tweet that had everybody losing their Sh** Lol.

        • Where can I find said twit?

          • General Hux

The Tweet was posted by Jayson asking if anyone had seen the Trooper and everyone started freaking out. lol

    • This doesn’t make any sense. We know VIII starts right where VII left off. Why would there be a drastic change in the Stormtrooper armor? Maybe it will turn out to be some sort of special unit or something.

      • Brian Beck

(sound of head banging against wall)…this news came out during the summer, they are called the executioners, and have some sort of new ‘battle wand’ thing

        • Sorry, not all of us are able to keep our ear to the internet every 30 seconds. I had not seen any news about this new trooper.

          • Brian Beck

well its every 2 hours on my work breaks :), it’s all good. the cynic in me thinks it was just a way to have a new toy since I think they gave us too much with 7 by showing all the troopers and ships. In any event I’m sure it well be an exclusive that will be impossible to find. speaking of exclusives enjoy this pic of the new Walmart AT-ST I got yesterday and the real reason the empire lost the Battle of Jakku 😉

  • RumSleg

I kind of wanted Hasbro decimated from low orbit even before this news. 🙂

  • CT-7567

I hope we still get these figures. Raddus and Galen especially. You can’t tease me with the prospect of a Galen Erso action figure and then just take it away.

    • General Hux

We’ll be getting them, no need to worry.

  • We can’t have nice things

  • Norman

    You may fire when read…WAIT!!!!

the toy line for Rogue One was not too successful on the mass market and I suspect Disney is pulling the plug and focusing on the 40th anniversary now. Collectors like Rogue One but your average kid is not interested. They want Chewbacca and BB-8 and R2D2.

    • Seronious

I don’t think that is true at all and unless you have inside sales statistics. From what i’ve seen i’d suspect Rogue One sales were very successful. The Rogue One line at best has 3 more cases of black series 6″ (wave 10, 11, and 12), and perhaps one more wave of 3.75″ (this rumored wave 4) before it’s done and that would follow the pattern.. These waves would have been planned well in advance, and I doubt they would be pulling abrupt changes.. I also think the Rouge One waves were distributed much better compared to the Force Awakens line last year.

      • 80sRobot

Yeah I bet the RO line has been/is successful. But Hasbro has to ramp up for the 40th Anniversary label, and of course Episode VIII. It’s kind of an abundance of riches at the moment for them with the SW brand.

Rebels, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have been doing well at all (both the toy sales and series ratings). Which could be one reason why Disney wants to end it and start another series.

        • Firestick User

I’m a first-gen SW fan and I LOATH Rebels. If I were with Lucasfilm, i’d throw that idiot with the cowboy hat out into the street.

          • TatooineSandworm

I am so happy that you are not Lucasfilm.

        • Seronious

I don’t mean to play devils advocate, but I don’t see them doing much for the 40th anniversary of ANH. I really dont. First, i’m in my 40’s and was a kid during that era, and i’m one of the few adults my age that still collects. Most my age don’t… SOoooooooo… what’s their market going to be? A slowly fading away franbase, and are kids that are now 7 to 15 going to care about the 40th anniversary label? Not at all.. they want new figures from the new movie. It’s smarter for Hasbro to do just what they are rumored to be doing – making some 40th anniversary super boxset that contains 5 figures out of metal die-cast and call it a day. I guarantee, that’s about all we will see in relation to the 40th anniversary.

        • LaurenceQuint

They should honestly cut their losses on Rebels at this point. The show has one year left, but rarely even introduces new characters. It’s not very popular and the toys always seem to sit around.

      • Josh Wanty

I can tell you from experience that Rogue One toy sales in my town are totally different than FA. We have two cases of both waves so far pretty much sell out. Now mind you my town is very small and not a lot of collectors in the area so the FA waves sat and sat and sat and are still sitting in clearance. So just in my opinion they did very well compared to FA.

      • Firestick User

Distrubition fo RO was not so wonderful in Las Vegas. It was all wave 1 until Target pulled out the supprise pallet with all the new goodies right before Thanksgiving. That was a one-shot deal. After all those figures sold out ( Vader, Krennic, Leia ect) it’s now back to wave 1 pegwarmers with a Stormtrooper here and there.

  • Interesting news. Maybe like that cancelled build a droid/legacy collection line?

  • ronstoneygold

I just heard a rumor that may or may not go along with this. Ep 7 Luke is coming out sooner than expected… in 40th Anniversary packaging. However, this is devastating, heart dropping news. He is a 3 3/4″ 5 POA figure and is being inserted into the collectible packaging line that I personally was hoping/expecting to be a super-articulated line.

So yeah, Hasbro lied to us.

Can’t tell who the source was BUT I CAN tell you where he’s from.

    The U.K.

    • 80sRobot

So the “Rogue One” label is being retired, and thus other characters from RO will be released under a “40th Anniversary” label?

    • General Hux

      Hasbro didn’t lie, dim wit.

      • ronstoneygold

We’ll see. They said the Vintage Collection was coming back, super-articulation included.

        • General Hux

I think they said they would like it to be 5POA, but it was never confirmed it would be, once again, sorry for my name calling. :-/

          • Bombadgungan

I’ve never gotten the impression from all their [Hasbro’s] comments over the years about the return of Vintage that they want it to be 5POA. For as much as some fans grumble about the packaging, and yes, I agree The Vintage Collection cards are beautiful, I believe the bigger contention is we’re not getting enough high quality super-articulated 3.75″ figures. If you were to poll the fans, I am certain more would vote for new s/a 3.75″ on Power Of The Jedi cards than would vote for 5POA on vintage cards. The cards are great, but ultimately isn’t it the figure inside that we are after?

      • ronstoneygold

What is the need to call me a dim wit?

        • General Hux

Sorry, yesterday was a crap fest for me, I’ll edit my comment.

    • That would be lame but not unexpected from hasbro.

    • CT-7567

Are you saying TVC is returning but with 5poa figures? I can’t believe Hasbro would do that. That line was Hasbro’s finest achievement in SW action figures. I’ve been enjoying the 5poa figures. I like them. But they DO NOT belong on premium cards.

      • Chris Lastovich

Honestly, 5POA on vintage cards makes perfect sense. What were the original figures back in 1977? If they are going true retro vintage collection, it actually makes way more sense and much cheaper to make then 5-POA figures. Plus, honestly if we are talking strictly packaging, what does it matter how many points of articulation a figure has if we are keeping them in the attractive packaging? Going retro 5-POA on vintage cards also allows Hasbro to keep their super articulated exclusive line with WalMart. If they were to mass produce super articulated figures in their normal line with vintage card backs for $12+, there would be no point to the WalMart exclusive line in clunky red and black boxes and it would go away completely… something I don’t think Hasbro wants to lose, as much as some collectors love/hate that line and retailer anyways.

        Just my $0.02

        • Theater Geek

          5POA never makes sense.

    • Firestick User

This time the “age-warning” better be a peel- off sticker. Hasbro ruined the New Hope original “Star Wars” logo last time.

  • Steve Stuber

Need to add Rey in the mix 😉

  • General Hux

Hopefully this just means they won’t be repacking the Shoretrooper and Death Trooper in this assortment, but if this means the figures get a long delay? Hasbro can be decimated like the Scarif Citadel. (Just Joking 🙂 )

    • Seronious

More than likely that is all that is happening. I’d suspect there will be one more wave of 3.75″ with the Rogue One card art..

These 40th anniversary rumors that everyone is speculating about have no real merit and just generate useless internet chatter. Unless it’s posted on JTA, or Yakface, i’ll give it some merit, because most of the time their “rumors” have accuracy to them.. Until then, posts like you see on these comment threads are just a bunch of “I think this is happening because it’s what I want to happen” speculation.

      • ronstoneygold

My post clearly stated that I don’t want 5POA on collector-type vintage style cards. I want super-articulated figures.

        • Seronious

This is the only rumor i’ve read that somewhat hints there could be a wave to commemorate the 40th anniversary. It’s a die-cast metal line, and contains 5 characters (Luke, Leia, Han, Obi-wan, and Vader) all from episode 4. This is more than likely the way they are going to commemorate the line. There has been no solid rumor of a vintage line, although hasbro reps have said it will eventually come, but that will more than likely be after the new trilogy is gone.

          • Paul

Although it would be a boxset and not a line or wave per se don’t forget about the black series 6 inch set that showed up on ami ami, and was then taken down, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of A New Hope.

          • Bombadgungan

I followed the link before it was taken down, but there wasn’t much to go on. I have not heard anything about what the set might entail. If it’s 6″, than perhaps repacks of Farmboy Luke, Obi-Wan, Leia and Darth Vader gathered in one boxed set?

      • ronstoneygold

I hope you ARE right and I what I said is wrong.

        • Seronious

Well, this site just leaked the Galen Erso figure on a Rogue One card… so I think all they were doing was a case reshuffle before it went out. Goes to show that these comment threads can lead to overblown rumors that aren’t true.

          • ronstoneygold

You didn’t even read what I had said, did you!?! I’ll repeat word-for-word here:

“I just heard a rumor that may or may not go along with this. Ep 7 Luke is coming out sooner than expected… in 40th Anniversary packaging. However, this is devastating, heart dropping news. He is a 3 3/4″ 5 POA figure and is being inserted into the collectible packaging line that I personally was hoping/expecting to be a super-articulated line.”

    • Bombadgungan

After my knee-jerk reaction of “Nooooooooo… ! Why are you cancelling these?”, my next, far more rational thought was this is just a matter of rejiggering what figures will be a part of this case.
