• Bombadgungan

My understanding of the supply chain wouldn’t allow for this. I don’t believe they randomly make tens of thousands of figures and then create “waves” as needed. They plan out their waves a year in advance, project their orders from retailers and manufactures as many figures as they need to fill the projected orders. In other words, if they have 2 Jyns and 1 K-2SO in a given case, then they make twice as many Jyns as K-2SOs.

If Hasbro want to make 10K cases of wave 1, they know how many of each figure are needed to build these 10K cases. Why would they make more? Unless they run off production for wave 2 or 3 at the same time. But same theory. They would know how many of each figure are needed to make the cases. The only thing that comes to mind that would perhaps leave them with extras is if there is a last minute change to a case ratio.

  • Mark

This wave is annoying. My stores always get the new waves quickly but no one has gotten any wave 3 5poa or the Sabine 6″ wave. Every Walmart has the AT-ST now but no one is buying it. Pegs are mostly empty everywhere in my part of DFW.

    • Brian B.

I’m honestly starting to think that the Sabine wave was only given to Gamestop/Thinkgeeks. I don’t think anybody has reported a retail sighting of it other than in those stores or online.

      • Mark

Yeah I’m not sure what Hasbro is thinking with waiting so long to refill stores and get them the new products. Will everyone be rabid for new stuff when something does hit stores or just meh because they lost interest with the long wait? I’m right in the middle.

      • Firestick User

Even at one per case, the tiny sabine figure (along with Rebels Leia) was always avalible since day one in Las Vegas Walmarts, Targets and Toys R Us.

        • Brian B.

Referring to the 6″ Black Series Sabine wave lol. Believe me, I took care of securing that figure a long time ago.

  • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

I still can’t find revan anywhere I refuse to pay scalper prices! F ing jerks lol

    • SID

Check Gamestop I’ve found 2x… In NYC Even.

    • 80’s will always rule

I personally find the word jerk weak, scalpers are scum they are cockroaches. The reason I still don’t have a Darth Revan because of that scum.

  • 80’s will always rule

    Where in Florida?

  • don

Also remember the figures sometimes hasbro puts in the cases are peg warmers to start. The latest 6 inch series only 2 new figures the rest know one really wants. They are in every store in wisconsin hanging on the pegs. Since new people are in hasbro the 20 to 30 somethings know nothing on what collectors want. sales prove it but they don’t take the time to look or care

    • SID

      Spot on.

      • don

And not one person talks to Hasbro. I call all the time. They want more people to do it they told me they will then listen.

        • don

There is no reason to keep putting in figures that do not sell in the cases. And no kids don’t want them. If so you wouldn’t find them in the stores.

          • Bombadgungan

I know it can be frustrating to see the same figures being restocked and piling up, but Hasbro is not packing these cases to order based on what is still sitting in stores. What is hitting stores now was likely already boxed up before those first Jyns and Cassians were even sold. In a perfect world we would easily find the figures we need and then they would miraculously be cleared away for the next wave of new figures. Unfortunately it is not that easy in reality.

          • don

It use to be that way. The reps that knew me by name would take the old out. But then they would use them in repacks as exclusives ect. That was the good days

          • Bombadgungan

Huh. I can’t even imagine such a scenario in this day and age. If it’s true, that time is long since past. That is so incredibly inefficient. Just think of the labor involved in such a process! How would they even be able to plan for their exclusives without knowing how much returned inventory they had coming? Would it ship back to China for unpacking and repacking? Would they then have to manufacture more of the unsold characters to complete the quantity commitment for the exclusives?

Sorry, maybe you’re talking about binding 2 or more single carded figures together in a “value pack”. Yes, that would be far less labor intensive as they would have to unpackage and repackage the figures, just tape them together with an new outer wrap. I remember this with Saga ’02, ROTS ’05, Legacy Collection ’09 and even SOTDS ’11.

        • SID

Coming from a RHODE ISLANDER… We need to start picketing outside the headquarters… Its not like its a “uncommon” thing to do right now. And with first has-con coming (really) (and being held across the street from the headquarters even) it would definitely be a window to exploit fan needs… And suicide for them on a PR standpoint to not address us.

          • don

            You r correct

    • Bombadgungan

Keep in mind that those case ratios are planned out many months, if not a year, in advance. Yes, they anticipate that the main characters in the current movie will sell more figures than the secondary characters. Hindsight is 20/20. Perhaps just two waves of the Jyn and Cassian would have sufficed. K-2SO certainly could have used a second go ’round. I’m guessing so could the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader. Chirrut and Baze will surely disappear quickly upon arrival, but who knows, they may be carried forward into the next wave as well.

      • Firestick User

Baze ( in the $14.99 2 pack) can be found often, mainly at Target.

        • Bombadgungan

Sorry, I didn’t clarify. I was replying to Don who was using recent TBS 6″ case ratios in his example.

  • chad

Been to a few Walmart’s and a lot of them have empty pegs. I sense much fear in Walmart.

    • Bombadgungan

I’ve noticed that Walmart is currently doing their toy dept. resets. Also, I believe they may be coming up on doing their annual store-wide inventory counts. Because of those two projects in addition to having just come out of the holidays, I’m guessing this is why we typically see somewhat bare shelves this time of year. Just my two cents.

      • don

Reset were here and gone. The atst sets never made it in the reset. Also the funko exclusive 3 packs. Totwiz is selling them on walmart.com for 3 times the price. And walmart cant het them to sell them. Milwaukee sucks

        • Bombadgungan

Yeah, I never saw those Funko Pop! 3-packs here either. Doesn’t mean there not still coming. I can’t speak for Walmart dot com, but perhaps they will restock there soon. The reset at my local Walmart included a tag for the AT-ST, but no product. I’m sure it will show up eventually.

It seems like maybe in “the good ol’ days” a store would keep all the product in the back room until they had everything needed to do a reset and then the shelves would be gloriously full. It no longer works that way. Back rooms are smaller and/or are needed for many times more goods than ever before. So much of this stuff is ordered as needed “just in time” and does not “live’ in the backroom for any length of time, going from the truck to the floor in one night.

          • don

NO atst here even in the super centers. Walmart sucks

          • Bombadgungan

I still have not seen the exclusive TBS AT-ST at any Oregon Walmarts. I did finally spot the beast at a Walmart up in Washington last weekend. I’m still undecided if I need yet another one of these, since I have 3 of the earlier releases.

I have however been seeing the Walmart exclusive Pops Cantina Aliens 3pks around town. Did you ever find that?

          • don

I’ve been looking ever since i seen this article.NO luck

          • Bombadgungan

It is a cool little set. I hope it shows up in your area soon.

  • Brian Beck

I went to 3 Walmart and 2 targets this morning and nothing. I have seamed to have the most luck with Sundays and finding new stuff, is there any day that any of you found to be a hot day ?

  • don

For years now you can not rely on big box stores. Back in the day it use to be everyweek cases coming in all the time. Hasbro are not worried about making money anymore. Theirs sales have to be pretty low. If they only supply the stores with product

  • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

Game stop is the place to go scored some rogue one figures on clearance for 5 buck an black series death troopers chewy for 2.57 each!

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Provided they even carry them… I’ve got 5-6 Gamestops in my area and just one store even carry the figures. I do agree with you though.

      • Brian Beck

yeah same here. the one that does/did, the manager told me they were the area ‘experimental’ store. with the amount of wave 9 stuff that they did sell, you would think that they would get the point !

        • Bombadgungan

It’s always nice to have more opportunities to find these in more place. Especially these days. I’ve only seen them at one GameStop here. The one in the mall had a case of TBS 3.75″ back before they became Walmart exclusive and they’ve had some TBS 6″ pegwarmers since TFA.

          • SID

If they are still there go. I got them between $1.50 -$3.00. And you can search the webpage for store stock and prices. (note: They only list assortment/case not individual figures etc. So you will not know unless you go, calling is not worth it since employees at GAMESTOP are some of the most inept)

          • Bombadgungan

Those prices, if for TBS 6″, are truly unbelievable! The store that had them only had Jyn, Finn, FO Snowtrooper and Kylo Ren.

          • SID

Well all TFA releases are $12 and store depending part of the buy one get one sale… So $6 (ish). Got tons hux and stay too

    • Brian B.

They’ve got the TIE Striker and U-Wing on clearance at the ones near me…almost got the Striker at the $20 they had it at.

      • Bombadgungan

Wow! I would for sure pull the trigger on a U-Wing for $20! I caved in and got the TIE Striker for $27 on clearance at Target.

        • Brian B.

That’s not a bad deal at all. I’m just hoping my hesitance to get the Striker pays off and I walk in on a day it’s clearanced even further

          • Bombadgungan

That’s a good price. You’ll kick yourself if you wait for it to get better and you end up missing it altogether.

          • Brian B.

You know what, you’re right…That’s why I went and picked it up today LOL

          • Bombadgungan

Well I finally got my U-Wing! Walmart put them on rollback for $19.87. That’s more than fair.

    • SID

Game stop is place right now. They just ended buy one get one on clearance (or bogo 50% off) (regional) so lots of deals to be had. MM $.23, black series $6.40, strikers $17.50, 2 packs $5.50, TFA 4 PACK $4.50, RO 5POA $3.30, ETC. (all if you calculate/justify the bogo).

Heck even just yesterday I got a nearly full display of MM for like under $6

      • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

Not in pa only snow an at at driver

        • SID

Sorry. Ya just gotta keep going to random ones. They don’t get a lot so its all “who ever randomly wants what character” I found my two between made 20-ish stores. Hell even the gamestop/thinkgeek across from Macy’s Manhattan had like 7x Sabine and obi. So its all just time and luck.

          • Bombadgungan

Man! If you hit 20-some GameStop stores you certainly deserve that under $6 MicroMachines collection! 🙂

Sabine and Obi, oh my!!! Wish that were my store.

          • SID

NYC has a slew of Gamestop so I’ve been to nearly every one. That’s how I got like 56 6″ black series for like $6 each (plus lots of other stuff)

        • Bombadgungan

I sure hope you picked up those 2 figures! Those are fantastic figures and two that I can’t wait to find!

          • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

Don’t want them I’m picky I mainly only collect Sith Lords that’s why revan is a must! I’m still working on my 3.75 siths

  • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

My walmarts have all peg warmers black Vader kylo Han Luke fo trooper Lando phasma I need more death troopers found one! An no Rgaurds grrr! But I did score at-st thank god!

    • 80sRobot

yeah i’ve noticed the same Blck series characters peg-warming in my local area Walmarts: TFA Han and TFA Leia the most, Lando next. The soldier characters are the toughest to find.

As for the regular Rogue One single carded figures, I really haven’t noticed any one character that appears to be peg-warming (regardless if we’re talking Walmart, TRU or Target). If there lots of RO figures available, it’s about an even mix of characters. If there are just a handful, it’s a similar even mix. I think what’s interesting are the characters I’m seeing less of now: K-2SO comes to mind immediately as getting hard to find. The Stormtrooper. Even Eadu Jyn.

Come to think of it, Eadu Cassian is probably the one I see most of, but not in what I would regard in peg-warming numbers. Just that if you want him, you’ll likely have an easier time finding him in one of the above stores over the other characters.

      • Firestick User

Good place to find wave one RO figs is Kmart.

      • Bombadgungan

Regarding The Black Series, yep, I would expect the troopers to sell more. I mean how many of us really need more than one each of the same TFA Han and Leia? Troopers however… 2, 5, maybe 10 of each? We got burried in Jyns, Cassians and Death Troopers at my local Walmart. The Death Troopers are mostly selling down. The others? Not so much. We also got a ton of Ackbars, Ahsokas & Landos. I’m sure there must have been at least a few Royal Guards in that assortment, but they obviously disappeared in the blink of an eye. I was shocked as to how much the Ahsokas backed up at first, as I thought that figure would be hot. The early seller out of the bunch (after ERG) was Ackbar. Now Ahsoka is selling down and we are left with a lotta Landos.

As far as 5-POA… yeah, I would say they are selling fairly evenly. Like you noticed, K-2SO is perhaps the scarcest. I’d say Jyn and Imperial Ground Crew are the slowest to sell. It rather surprises me about the Ground Crew, as I think that is one kick-butt figure. I even still see 5-POA Sabine here and there.

  • General Hux

Quick question, JTA has reported that the Raddus, Galen Erso, Lt. Sefla wave is only going to be available online (no word on Fenn Rau)….Does this mean the two-packs will also share the same fate?

    • Bombadgungan

Nobody here cares about what JTA reports.

      • Jawa_Fetish

Oh, you speak for everyone now? Don’t be rude, a-hole.

        • Bombadgungan

I must have hit a nerve to get you all riled up like that. You are more than welcome to visit that site to your heart’s content. With your name calling, it would be the perfect fit for you. Have fun!

          • Jawa_Fetish

Actually Yakface and JTA are two of my favorite sites. I just took issue with how you responded To Hux. Just seemed uncalled for.

          • Bombadgungan

You’re right, there are most likely readers here who also frequent that other site. I never intend to speak for others, just for myself, so it was wrong of me to phrase it the way I did. I believe Hux understands where I was coming from, that I wasn’t being hateful. With that said, I’m still not sure how saying we (I) don’t want to hear about that site here on Yakface has you feeling justified in calling me an a-hole.

          • Jawa_Fetish

You’re right. I should have stopped at rude.

          • Jawa_Fetish

All right, no more internet arguing. Let’s just call it a day. I feel stupid arguing about SW collecting sites. Lol.

          • General Hux

            There’s a history there that I understand, @bombadgungan:disqus is all good. 🙂

          • Jawa_Fetish

            Ok, General, sorry to interfere.

          • General Hux

No problem, Jawa! If I didn’t know why Bombad responded that way I would’ve reacted the same way as you. 🙂

          • Brian Beck

well I’m on your side. There tends to be ‘actual’ news here, and a post like this over there would of had 50+ comments of ” 5POA sucks, I won’t buy it”. gee thanks for taking time out of your busy day to let us know that for the 75th time.

          • Bombadgungan

I’m totally cool with rumor reports. Like you said, it’s the cacophony of this sucks, that sucks, Hasbro sucks, how dare they make something I didn’t ask for, comments that “sucks” all the joy out of being a fan and engaging with others about our hobby.

          • General Hux

I do agree with you that there is too much 5POA bashing in collecting in the collecting community in general.

      • What about their rumors and the “nudge nudge, know what I mean know what I mean?” reports?

        • Bombadgungan

          Yes, they do have those.

  • coachvader

My Walmart haven’t gotten the black series shoretrooper or Cassian Andor wave yet. Got some catching up to do now this new wave is out

    • RumDumb

Mine either but then again they just put first wave of 3.75″ rogue one figures out 2 weeks ago. 3 boxes have been on the riser since launch

    • Bombadgungan

Dang, that sucks! I hope you find them before the Ep. VIII line launches.

      • General Hux

        I don’t have that wave either. :-/

        • CT-7567

Neither do i. 🙁 Nothing new has come out since well before Xmas.

          • Bombadgungan

Doh! Wow, distribution really is all over the place. Like those Walmarts that got in 20 cases really needed that many! I do hope these make it your way soon (and you too Hux). While Cassian is so so IMHO, the Scarif Shoretrooper is a must have!

        • CT-7567

I just found a Cassian hidden in a huge pile of older, mostly Phasma wave, figures. I’m really hoping I find the Shoretrooper. Have you seen the new 5poa wave yet?

          • SID

Glad someone has. The newest I’ve got is jyn (not even a death trooper).

          • General Hux

Nope, haven’t seen that wave yet. 🙁

    • Darthoutwithyoursaberout

Every Walmart in pa has cassian not one shoretrooper they don’t make it to the shelf same with death troopers and royal gaurd it’s like they don’t even make it out the back room

      • Bombadgungan

I hear ya! I can’t say the same for the TBS 3.75″ Death Troopers. Those have somehow managed to escape the scalpers. But yeah, it’s a feeding frenzy on Royal Guards and Scarif Shoretroopers. The one and only time I saw the Shoretroopers, I literally watched a hoarder walk off with every last one of them, 20-30 in all. I was lucky to have 2 in my hand before he cleared the pegs.

  • chad

Yeah, it will be forever before my Walmarts will see these.

  • Tom Piercey

It was the wrong one with a row of red and row of blue.

  • General Hux

Need this wave and 5POA Krennic, then I’ll be caught up with all the figures I want.

    • Mark

If I have to respond to you one more time about this I’m going to lose it! 😀

      • General Hux

Haha!! Sorry, I unfortunately can’t make online transactions that involve money, I’m in high school 🙂
I would’ve taken your offer up ages ago if I could’ve.

        • Mark

I just meant to generally shut up about it haha! At this point I’m willing to just send you the stupid Krennic for free. He’s at every store I go to, taunting me.

          • General Hux

Haha!! Every store? Wow, after a long hiatus I have been going on a lot of toy runs the past little bit, and nada.

          • Rykrof_Enloe

I have seen at least 40 Krennics now. None lately though. You really should find a way to get one online… remember, I did offer… 🙂

          • General Hux

Yes, indeed you did! Lol 🙂 I prefer finding in store so I can look at the paint apps, I’m not that worried.

          • Mark

How many field agents do you have looking for Krennics?? Lol

          • General Hux

            20 field agents.

          • Bombadgungan

40! Forty? Wow! Just wow. It is two different worlds that we live in. No wonder I read people complaining of peg warmers. Unbelievable!

          • Rykrof_Enloe

Yeah – I’m not exaggerating either… mostly at Target stores but some at Walmarts too. Probably 75% of those I’ve seen were at Target stores. One store at least 15 of them…in December they were refreshing the pegs every couple of days. That was in Fenton, MO.

          • General Hux

I may be interested in Krennic though.

          • Mark

            In stock at Walmart.com. No 3rd party mark-ups. 49802178

          • General Hux

Thank you! I might be able to order that soon, can’t at the moment,

          • Bombadgungan

Enough! Shut up already about all your stores having every Star Wars figure and toy that is no where to be found in these parts! 😉

        • Bombadgungan

I tell you what, I’ll send you your Krennic and you write my book report for me. Deal? 😉

          • General Hux

            Deal!! 😉

    • CT-7567

Krennic is a nice figure. I had a hard time finding him at first, bit now he’s showing up a lot. I’m sure you’ll see him soon. I think you’ll like the figure.

  • Bombadgungan

    Wow, nice find EpcotServo! Congrats!

    • EpcotServo

Thanks! Just to give a bit of Update, no other Walmarts in the area have any sign of new figures. We are usually the last to get to anything around here, so I was very surprised.

I am really hoping this wave is fairly plentiful, Bodhi is great. But yeah, Florida Walmarts all over seem on par with the other comments. Not seen the 3.75 Black Series Shoretrooper wave at all. We got the first Jyn wave, and then a sudden huge amount of the Phasma wave overfilling the pegs and top shelves. 5POA singles are the only pegs to ever go empty or light at Walmarts here it seems, for now at least.

      • Bombadgungan

That TBS 3.75″ Phasma wave was M.I.A. here in my part of Oregon for months. Then around Christmas, about the same time the Cassian/Shoretrooper wave showed up, the Phasma wave showed up at other locations. It was kinda weird that certain Walmarts got a ton of one wave and not the other, while other Walmarts got the other wave. No Walmarts seemed to get in both. Hopefully more Shoretroopers are coming.

  • Charlie Carden

gah! give these to us as sixes!

    • Bombadgungan

I read that three or four times before I figured out what it was you were talking about. You mean you’d rather have these as 6″ figures, right?

  • Tom Piercey

I found those two and Thrawn at Walmart a few days ago.

    • Feel free to send in a store report anytime you find something new at retail.

      • Mark

I’m headed to TRU and Target at lunch and WM after work. I’ll update you.

        • Mark

Update: My TRU hasn’t restocked SW since before Christmas. I feel like something big is about to happen.

My Target keeps restocking hard to find TFA waves and RO wave 2 so nothing yet.

          • We talking Unmasked Kylo hard-to-find, or Resistance Rey hard-to-find?

          • Mark

I’ve seen both plus Han too. My Walmart just got a new stock of Leech, Ackbar and 5th brother plus more SA Landos and Ahsokas. And the AT-ST’s are still there from when they came out a couple of weeks ago. I would think there would be more scalpers in this part of DFW but I guess not.

          • If you happen to come across another Unmasked Kylo, I’d be more than happy to pay you for it!

          • Mark

            You got it!

          • Thanks!

          • Mark

I was cruising the Dollar General and saw this big junky toy bin on the very top shelf. I took it down and guess what was in there!

          • No way!

          • Mark

Yep if you still need it

          • Mark
          • So, how much do I owe you!? Haha

          • Mark

Consider it a SW fan to SW fan gift! The way I found it was too cool to just end with a cheap sale haha.

Unmasked Kylo Ren, Resistance Rey, TFA Ackbars and the TBS AT-ST??? Whoa! What is this magical place where all Star Wars toys actually show up on the pegs and shelves?

          • Mark

A combination of Frisco, Crossroads and Denton Texas. Don’t bring your greedy friends. 🙂

          • Bombadgungan

Don’t worry. I don’t associate with “greedy friends”… but I can’t speak for other who may be reading this page.

This is gonna sound crazy, but I was at a Family Dollar about two months ago to stock up on my favorite bad-for-me candy (which seems to be only available at the FD) in the obviously poorer, low-income desolate side of town, and came across unmasked Kylo and Resistance Rey in their toy aisle. Just one of each for $6. Made no sense to me! lol

I’m generally not interested in the TFA line (liked the movie but for some reason the figures never clicked for me), but I checked eBay for these figures on my phone right there to see how much I could possibly make putting them on eBay. It would have only been $5 profit on average each. It wasn’t worth my personal effort, so I left them there.

Now I wish I had snapped a photo to share here to prove that Family Dollar was said magical place! lol

Been randomly checking them too often glad someone proved my theory right (since discount chains have been getting last waves)

I’m new to the site so I’m not sure where or how to do that but this was in Amherst, New Hampshire. There were a few of each figure. No death trooper or shoretrooper. I assumed somebody snatched them all before me to army build.

Great, now the hunt begins. (Mr. Burns) Release the hounds.

    • Mark

My hunts usually consist of going to Walmart and they’re all there and it reminds me of the Office Space virus upload scene. “Well, that was easy.”

      • Brian Beck

Well not so here. they (all 5 of my ‘marts’) didn’t have the wave 2 stuff until 2 weeks before Christmas (Target had them for 6 weeks)

        • Bombadgungan

Now the long wait begins. Maybe one of my 2 ‘marts’ will get these sometime in March. With any luck I’ll find them at Target sooner. Come on Target, don’t fail me now!

          • CT-7567

I’m worried that this wave might end up being impossible to find like those last TFA figures. My area briefly had the Reyjungle and Rexdesert waves, but the snow and space assortments were impossible to find. Never saw them once at retail.

          • Bombadgungan

I hear ya. I’m remaining optimistic about this wave for now. However, a friend has informed me he is hearing the next wave (Galen Erso/Lt. Sefla) is being canceled. And here I thought it was only being delayed in order to re-assort the contents.

          • General Hux

The Galen Erso wave won’t be coming to retail, but will be available through Online retailers such as Dorkside toys

          • Bombadgungan

Maybe I’ll order it through EE. I hope we won’t be left having to buy an entire case! 🙁

          • General Hux

Dorkside will most likely have solid cases and their prices are fair, probably like $25.99 For all three of the figures.

          • Bombadgungan

I’ve never bought from Dorkside, so I’ll just stick to who I know and trust. I’m guessing by your reply that you expect them to have BOTH solid cases AND “sets” that include 1 of each of the new figures. Cases contain 12 figures and I’d expect those to run at least in the $95 range.

          • Bombadgungan

I guess my prediction was right. I found the first two figures of this wave in early March. Now lets hope your prediction is not correct and the rest of the wave proves impossible to find.

          • Bombadgungan

And by mid-March (last weekend) I had found 2 more of this wave (at Walmart), Death Trooper and Jyn Imperial Disguise. Now just have Scarif Trooper to find.
