This past year for Rogue One FF my local Walmart didn’t have a thing put out at midnight so I literally made them go and start putting it out and got to open the boxes myself and they kept asking me did you find everything lol.

  • bobcat

Sept 30th 2016 i saw LOTS of Rogue One merch at the walmarts i frequent. way way way better then the crap that was the start of ”farce friday” as i called it for TFA. 🙂

if this past year is any indication then i have faith it will work out. Hasbro has there stuff together from what i saw in my city. being its not a spin off it would be kind of hilarous if they bombed it again like they did for TFA. it looks like that wont happen based on this past fall/winter. while this is news to report im not overly worried about Sept 1st being its only the start of Feb! geeze!

  • Seronious

Lego’s are the best part about going to the Force Friday event.. It’s become a tradition for my son and I to build one of the bigger sets the day after. Usually every year the black series figures are a bust unless you are the first few in line, and the 3.75 were gone in less than a few minutes during the Force Awakens event, although I scored those easily this year. But, I’m interested to see what’s in store this year.

    • CT-7567

I want a Luke Skywalker figure. Either his TFA look or his TLJ costume. I don’t want to talk about it on here because of spoilers, but I think his TLJ look is pretty awesome.

    • Bombadgungan

I guess in a way I am lucky that my Walmart does not do anything special for Force/Rogue Friday and that they are not a 24-hr store. I think because of this I can casually stroll in Friday morning before work and pick up whatever I need without the chaos of pushing and shoving and grabbing for figures.

I went to TRU for TFA Midnight Madness and it was just that, madness! They ran out of freebies at the door and there were so many people clamoring for a few items inside that I ended up leaving empty handed.

  • Rivesjunctionite

    I’m way over Force Friday.
Got burned at the TFA FF, and I skipped the Rogue One event. If they want me back, they better start giving out better swag than one Lego.

    • General Hux

The Rogue One event they gave out a Funko Pop T-shirt and a sweet poster. I didn’t even get one of those Lego’s at the TFA event.

      • Rivesjunctionite

Yeah, not interested in a Funko T-shirt. Before they showed what it was, the T-shirt was the only thing I was mildly interested in getting, but when I saw it, I was SO relieved I didn’t bother.

        • General Hux

I like it. :-/ It was free so…

          • Rivesjunctionite

Good for you. Want my Lego?

          • General Hux

Nah, I don’t need that. I don’t collect Lego. Lol

          • Rivesjunctionite

            Me neither.

          • CT-7567

I don’t collect Lego either but that little brick was a joke. They could’ve had a little vehicle or mini-figure or something.

          • Rivesjunctionite

Oh yeah, I agree. When the Special Editions came out (twenty years ago), I waited in line for three hours for the Theater Edition Luke Jedi. How times have changed.

          • CT-7567

What’s the shirt look like? You got the Kylo poster from FF 2015, right?

          • General Hux

The shirt has some of the Rogue One team on it in Funko form and there’s some AT-ACTs in the background. It’s prtty cool, and yeah, I have that Kylo poster. 🙂

  • nutzaboutpoker

Judging by the number of 5POA RO figures I’ve seen, either retailers werent interested in ordering a ton of product, or Hasbro scaled back from TFA. I still see tons of TFA figures and a small amount of RO. Wave 3 has been hard to track down, I just need Thrawn and I suspect Wave 4 will be the same way since it is likely to be the last wave for RO cards.

    • Bombadgungan

My assessment from what I’ve seen locally is that TFA started out with too little product to meet demand and Hasbro was playing catch up until wave 3. It seems retailers ordered a ton of W3, which was [unfortunately] nothing more than a revised ratio of waves 1 & 2. Consequently waves 4 and 5 saw fairly limited release.

For Rogue One Hasbro seemed to be more prepared. For me, RO toys were in adequate supply across multiple retailers. It has been a steady stream without any horrible gaps. Wave 3 is due [here] any day now and W4 should be along in the Spring.

Marketing-wise, it does seem TFA was made a bigger deal of, so retailers may have ordered RO accordingly. They may have also scaled back after seeing so much of the late TFA product sit.

  • Like A Bossk

I’ll be at the self checkout in Walmart a week before Force Friday.

  • Mike Avallone

Well when I complained to Walmart customer service back after the last Force Friday I was told a manager would call me in 3 to 5 days. After every 5th day, nothing so I called them again. This went on until the premiere day of Rogue One when I finally got a call from a district manager. He listened to my complaint after I told him I couldn’t drive and that my wife had driven me to 7 different walmarts over and over in our area. He gave me a sincere apology and asked if he could send me a 100.00 gift card for the inconvenience. I thanked him. We had the card in less than a week and used it for household things we needed.
The point is don’t give up. If you have a complaint with a retailer get on them until the problem is resolved. Took me 4 months but it was worth it.

  • General Hux

Well, considering the this movie was originally slated for May of this year they shouldn’t have as many problems as they did with TFA….September 1 is less than 7 months away! Can’t wait!

    • GIBBS v2

Thats a really good point I did not consider.

    • CT-7567

Have you seen Luke’s TLJ costume? I totally want a figure of him in both that costume and his TFA costume. I REALLY want him to still have his green saber. It’s my favorite lightsaber in SW. I love the blue one too, as well as Obi-Wan(ROTSANH) and Ahsoka’s green saber(the longer one). I really like Kanan’s lightsaber too. I like the design of the hilt. Plus it’s the first lightsaber that we learn has a training mode(along with Ezra’s I suppose).

      • General Hux

        Luke’s TLJ costume is awesome!

  • Bob Villa

I have been thru 2 force fridays so far and its always a disaster at Walmart, when you hit the store in the morning nothing is ready. it is unpacked that day and might be there on the pegs at night. The last one i got thru provided me with some interesting insight. I was there waiting for someone to help me figure out why the toys were not on the pegs, i was told that the toys are put on the shelves by the toy section manager and if they feel good on that day they might put them up early in the morning or decide to put them on whenever. This year the whenever was 3 days later even if they had a flyer in the store announcing the availability of the toys it was not put on the pegs. A woman ( one of the rare helpful ones ) helping me actually scanned the peg tag and told me that there was there was a pallet in the back, and when i asked her why the toys were not on the peg for opening, i basically got, she’ll put them up when she feels like it.

At the other end of town at the other walmart, same situation, the toys were not on the pegs but we had someone in the alleys unpacking the hasbro boxes and cussing about having to do that… I went to the customer service and asked why the toys were not on the pegs as advertised and i got a BS story from the employee relating again to how people worked in the store.

so that goes to show you that # 1: Hasbro does not educate their retailers and try to make sure that their toys are on the pegs on launch day.

and 2nd, walmart employees don’t give —–, to them it’s just another job to do and the employees don’t like to be rushed.

So, unless i’m extremely impressed with the figures i see by Hasbro and absolutely want one on day one, i’m gonna stay home this year and avoid all this BS and heartache from a retailer whose employees don’t give a crap about their work.

    • Walmart wasn’t part of the “Force Friday” launch for Rogue One. Toys”R”Us was the only official retailer participating in the midnight/Sept. 30 launch of the product. Other retailers were just instructed to have it out the following week as part of their planned aisle reset or as inventory allowed. Most Target store had product available for their am store openings. So unless you have a TRU in your area, I’d suggest avoiding WM altogether until it is announced they will be taking part in the midnight madness/Force Friday launch — which if history suggests, they won’t.

      • Littlegreenwiseguy

In my area, Target had everything out on Force Friday for ROGUE ONE: entrance display pallets, aisle set ups, of feature endcaps, and sold through nearly every 5POA and TBS 6″ figure not related to The Force Awakens. The following Monday, the Walmart supercenter next door put out 4 pallet displays, filled 3/4 of the 12 feet reset for ROGUE ONE, and still can’t move any TBS 6″ figures to this day. It is just pathetic.

      • Bob Villa

To answer Paul B, i did go on Twitter and actually Tweeted to Walmart to express my displeasure at their customer service and also wrote to them on their webpage… as expected i got a canned email reply that did not do anything good. Jayson, the problem with TRUS is that they are price gauging on what they sell, as an example. the figure here sell just under 10$ ( like 9.95) or something like that at Walmart. TRUS is always more expensive. If i recall correctly the same figure is 10.99$ or more and if you buy a lot, the loss amounts quickly. The only thing good about TRUS is they have a lot of sales compared to Walmart. You may end up seeing a lot of sales, more than Walmart, but usually it would be for crap like the full peg of Zuvios and if you go online to shop, the choice is very limited, crappy, plus you got to pay horrendous shipping.

With that being said, i adopted a different strategy lately. I have decided to try Walmart.ca and i can say that i am fairly happy with what i got while it lasted. I got a bunch of rogue one Vaders figures at 7.99$ can, and free shipping for over 50$, the items came quickly, in a good sturdy box and undamaged. I liked the fact that i did not have to jump in my car and chase stuff around and i might actually do that more and more for the figures i buy in multiples.

But for Force Friday, Walmart is horrible, what you just wrote would make sense now, but when your hear that the palette is in the back and no one gives a flying —– about you and your couple of hundreds of dollars that you have burning holes in your pockets then it really burns to see that. I’m not gonna get up at 5 this year and go do the morning wait like i did for the last 2 years. It’s just not worth it for me anymore.

        • don

TRU is way more expensive and corrupt too. Manager told employees they get first grab by us. That was many years ago and it is still the same. I still like when Hasbro had reps go to the store . I actually found product and they were great to talk to.

      • CT-7567

I actually found a bunch of stuff at Walmart on the last FF. Technically it was the next day. I really don’t like Walmart at all, but if they have what I want I’ll go there. They are handling the exclusive line terribly. I lucked upon Jyn and the Deathtrooper but the Cassian and Scarif Trooper wave is impossible to find. I found one Cassian hidden away. They all have so many older figures I can’t imagine they’ll be ordering any new ones any time soon. If I don’t get a Walrusman because of their poor handling of TBS I will be very mad. I missed him from TVC and the figure is a work of art.

    • Paul B

I’d have been like, I guess you aren’t getting my money then.
Then, I’d go call 1- 800 Walmart and complain it.
(Not that that really does all that much anymore, but if enough people do it, home office might take notice.)

  • Richard Grissom Jr.

Still haven’t seen most of the new stuff. Still haven’t even seen the BS Royal Guard wave yet here. Lolz.

    • Littlegreenwiseguy

Same here. The TFA Leia, TFA Han, and Captain Phasma wave only showed up here AFTER Thanksgiving. Then ONE magical case slipped out with Jyn Erso (x3), Death Trooper (x3), Admiral Ackbar (x1), and General Lando (x1). NO Ahsokas or Emperor’s Royal Guards to be seen.:(

      • SID

Exactly happened to me too. No guards. No death troopers. 2 jyns. And they only keep putting out Han / phasma wave again and again.

        Such a bummer.

  • Diddly

So empty pegs at retail from now until September 1?

    • Danny

I’m assuming Force Friday will kick off merchandising for EPVIII. We still have the 40th anniversary coming up really soon that will hold us off until September.

      • Diddly

But the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars falls during Marvel season. Can Hasbro support 2 lines at once?

        • Danny

There was a leak as to what items are coming out for the 40th anniversary. The question is whether or not these are coming on May 25th or not. If they are then that answers your question, if they aren’t, then there will be a lot of disappointing hard core collectors. Maybe supporting two lines at the same time it’s the whole reason for going die cast on their 3.5″ figures.

          • April 1 will be the release/preorder date of the 40th Anniv. products

          • Danny

It’s gotta be an April’s fools joke for sure.

          • Paul B

Because every hardcore collector asked for die cast 3.75″ figures (which are actually smaller than 3.75″)

        • Rykrof_Enloe

The real question is, “Can Hasbro support one line at once?”

          • Rivesjunctionite

And the real answer is, “no”

        • don

They will never support correctly. Just saying. They have alot of time to do it and the excuse,we didn’t think it would sell that well. Hello? Star Wars?

      • Bombadgungan

Force Friday? You mean “Last Friday” don’t you? 😉

    • Bombadgungan

No, not empty pegs. I don’t know about your area, but my stores still have RO product up. Plus we still have wave 3 and 4 of the basic 5POA line to show up between now and when 40th Anniversary product starts showing up in I’m guessing May (*Update; Jayson says April). We have the RO DVD/Blu-ray dropping in late March, so I expect to see some product roll-out to accompany that. The Saw Gerrera/Two Tubes/Tank Driver set due in the spring and a recent press release said Galen Erso, Lt. Sefla, Raddus & Fenn Rau [wave 4] are also due in the spring. So my guess is these may all be timed around the media release. And lets not forget waves 9, 10 and 11 of TBS 6″. I know some of W9 has shown up at GameStop, but surely those and subsequent waves are still slated for the big box stores.

I judge that as there still being good stuff to come between now and September. 🙂

      • Diddly

My stores have been pretty much cleared out of R1 product since Christmas, at least when it comes to figures. The only things I can find are 3.75 inch Stormtrooper Kanan and 6 inch Cassian. All the other vehicles are hitting clearance, and non-role play/non-figure items are just sitting there. Most of what I see is old TFA product.

      • CT-7567

RO is coming in March? I thought it was April?

        • Bombadgungan

I had read March 28. Maybe that has now changed.

  • SlothFromHoth

I think it’s interesting that they’ve bounced the event around from the start of September to the end and now back to the start.

    • The original release date was May 26, 2017 so with the later release, they can move the product launch back to the beginning of the month.

  • Doctor Hans Reinhardt

Maybe we’ll get a Luke figure?
