Why, why, WHY are they doing this to us??? Give decent 3.75 inch figures or give me death!

  • CT-7567

    What’s the fifth figure?

    • Bombadgungan

      Umm… Han Solo?
      1) Vader
      2) Obi-Wan
      3) Luke
      4) Leia
      5) Han

      🙂

      • CT-7567

My bad. I meant sixth. Didn’t the article say six?

  • darthvaderdisco

These are what you grab when you’re on your way to a birthday party for a kid you hate, and have forgotten a gift. Stop it with the pharmacy toys, Hasbro.

  • don

This sucks walmart does not know how to put these in their stores. Will never see them

    • Stereotypical Evil Archer

      Good, we don’t want these.

  • SID

Thanks Hasbro… For nothing. (no one wanted or even asked for titanium’s last time)

    • Barney Dunn

And all this talk about bringing back the Vintage Collection. We will see it when it happens. Hasbro always teasing about it coming back but then puts out press releases like this for knock-offy figures with paint jobs that no longer resemble any of the characters. This is the way to celebrate 40 years of Star Wars?

  • Barney Dunn

If you want mini die cast figures, the only way to go is Takara Tomy MetaColle figures. They are beautifully painted and you can feel the quality. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5728/31044295036_450a81e67c_b.jpg

  • nate e.

Where are these for sale? Walmart exclusive?

    • Most stores in the spring (i.e. not exclusive)

      • CT-7567

What do you think of these, Jayson?

  • Bombadgungan

Not bad figurines in and of themselves, I just think they appeal to too small a segment of customers. I never collected any of the older Titanium figures and I really don’t expect I will start collecting with these.

    • CT-7567

Good assessment. I kinda like Ben and Vader, but I never got the older metal figures and definitely don’t care about them now. I might grab the two I mentioned at some point, but this is most definitely NOT going to be like the 30th anniversary.

  • Firestick User

The only way this line would have worked is for the original 12 figures be released in waves. This won’t happen now because the first (and last) 5 are all core figures.

  • I’m open to the idea of little statues, I just don’t think these look good. I don’t care about articulation or scale. I like them to be screen accurate or at least close. That Vader looks silly and Leia looks pretty bad too. Luke and Han are OKAY at best but that Obi Wan looks terrible in these photos. The lack of detail is pretty jarring all around. These look like christmas ornaments. The price doesn’t bother me, the execution does.

  • so these awkwardly posed cosplay statues, a 6″ fever dream diorama, another Monopoly game and one lightsaber. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of STAR WARS. THIS was the big plan. THIS. I hope there are more surprises to come.

    • There are

      • Bob Villa

I hope that fandom just got trolled by Hasbro Jayson and that this week’s brou ah ah was just the B grade offerings from Hasbro and that the real sweet stuff is coming out next week…I’m willing to give them a “big” chance but my patience is running thin. I’m sure a lot of people feel this way.

        • Tom P.

Hopefully we get a few Last Jedi reveals at NYCC as well. We already know who most of the films characters are.

          • General Hux

I doubt it, maybe a Luke figure but I wouldn’t expect anything else before a trailer comes out.

          • Tom P.

True. Force Friday will probably be the reveal.

  • Rykrof_Enloe

I’d like these more if there was a mainstream 3.75″ line that wasn’t so weak.

Also I’m pretty sure that Hasbro ain’t going back to a good 3.75″ mainstream line until at least the sequel trilogy wraps up.

On any note, I don’t think these or the 6″ premium line look bad, I just don’t really care about them. Hasbro just ain’t listening. Maybe it’s time for Steve Evans to move on.

    • Tom P.

I hope we’re at least getting some actual 3.75″ figures (regardless of POA) for the 40th and not having to wait until The Last Jedi.

      • Firestick User

Maybe to hasblo the 40th Ann. Isn’t a big deal. Hope I’m still alive in 10 years lol.

    • Elias Fulton

Steve Evans is definitely the problem. He has been cutting production costs to generate profit for investors. By shifting to 0 points of articulation he has now hit a wall. Next they are going to give us figures and have us paint them ourselves. He has destroyed the 3.75″ line. I can’t wait for him to be replaced.

  • Gloriouscollector

Please don’t tell me this is what you have in store for us long time collectors Hasbro!

  • Ugh, these are not the toys we are looking for!

  • General Hux

Is it bad that I don’t mind these? Too pricy, though.

    • Matthew Ruch

Not at all! They’re definitely not my thing, but I’m glad at least one person likes them.

      • General Hux

I probably won’t buy any, maybe Vader. But I don’t think they’re terrible. I know we’re getting more 3.75″ figures for the 40th, not sure if they’re 5POA or SA, but this isn’t it.

        • bobcat

ya, its cool they have backrounds to add to the figure. its not for me either as i like the tradional figures but like someone else said, its a diff arena now sorta and even if it wasnt they want to keep making diff things it seems these days. there has been so much made of the stuff we like theirs. no reason to get mad about this. how self centered can someone be anyway? haha lets just hope they make a LITTLE something that suits our needs more that is new on shelves this year 🙂

        • CT-7567

You know this for a fact? Beyond the Walmart repack wave with Walrusman?

          • General Hux

Yes, I do, they are called Legacy figures. That is all I know at this point.

    • I would have really liked these if they were all plastic instead. I would have bought a few for sure and I bet they wouldnt have been so expensive. Either way I dont think this 40th anniversary “merch” is for us anyways. We’re in the middle of a major SW events with the new movies and all the “public interest” in the franchise. They are targeting everyday people who dont have a thousand piece SW collection; who would like to have a collectible that isnt just a plastic action figure.
If youre just someone who wants something Star Wars to display on their desks or cubicle shelves, these are great display pieces and its not like youre going to buy all of them, so the cost isnt a big deal. You not a collector who has been collecting the True Scale for the last 30 years, so these particular die cast offering dont infuriate you.

      • General Hux

I’ve been collecting the “True Scale” long enough to know how awesome it once was, but, I’m a very open minded collector. Toys don’t really get me mad unless I can’t find them. i.e. ERG, Shoretrooper, Cassian TBS 3.75″ figs.

        • Haha my point! Youve been collecting long enough to know how great we had it, but long enough that you become apoplectic the very notion of a die cast 3.75 (possibly 3 PoA) collectible. You are indeed fortunate to be open minded Huxy. As for me I dont really care about what hasbro is up to at the moment. Ive got my own great collection to keep me satisfied.

          • Firestick User

Back in the good old days, I was looking at Star Wars figures at TRU in 1980 and a nice young female employee brought out a case of the first TESB figures with Dengar and Hoth Leia. I didn’t even ask for them 🙂

        • Bombadgungan

          And don’t forget #where’smyKrennic. 😉

          • General Hux

I want my Krennic and I want it now! 🙂 JK

          • CT-7567

I just saw a Krennic an hour ago at Walmart. 🙁 I wish you were old enough to make online trades. I gladly would’ve grabbed it for you. I wish one of the sites we frequent could set up some kind of trading system.

          • General Hux

Yeah, it’s a bummer that I can’t find him, distribution in my area has gone by the way side after the second wave of Rogue One 5POA figures came out. :-/

        • CT-7567

Good post, Hux. I don’t get mad either. Just disappointed that it’s not something I would like more. Not being able to find stuff is another thing. I still don’t have the Walmart TBS Scarif Trooper and I need a second Cassian. I actually found one hidden in a pile of TFA characters. I wish we were getting more RO figures. SA or 5poa.

      • Bombadgungan

That is an excellent (and very reasonable) way to look at it.

    • Rivesjunctionite

No, not bad. They do look kind of cool, if I were not already invested.

  • 80sRobot

A cooler thing for Hasbro to do would be die-cast versions of the droids that are at least 5 POTA at 3.75″, as well as Vader, the Stormtroopers, Boba Fett. Die casting for these characters would be the most logical.

    • I would like all my droids to be diecast figures! they dont have to be super articulated, but just enough to pose naturally.

  • Paulskywalker

Well Hasbro, this worked last time didn’t it… I look forward to seeing these in the cheap shops like last time, and like then i shall walk on by. $15, a joke! The money spent to produce these could have been used to give us the things we actually want.

    • xdeathmedicx

They are trying to take away business from gentle giant statues and disney die cast. They did not listen one bit in the surveys they had us take. Wtf. Id be happy with the regular 6in bs with 40th anniversary packaging. I gave up on tvc ever coming back

      • Rivesjunctionite

They planned these statues at least a year in advance. JTA leaked news of the coming die cast figures last summer. That survey was too little too late.

        • xdeathmedicx

I guess i ignored that one bc i dont do statues. But still they are trying to make something work for them that is not what we want

      • Firestick User

Disney die-cast are 500% better than Hasblo.

        • xdeathmedicx

Not better than tvc. But its all a matter of opinion

      • Paulskywalker

Funny thing is back when Lego start their SW models they wanted to do mini figure sets ala. the ones they used to do for their figures. And Hasbro stepped in and said no we do action figures they can’t. But Hasbro can have a slice of the statue market from GG and Attackus.

    • Tom P.

Apparently they each come with both back drops. So you can connect them all. The weapons are probably interchangeable. But still, no thanks.

      • Paulskywalker

Ah i thought at they also have different light sabres and blaster bolts they were going to be two separate versions.

  • Matthew Ruch

Good thing my garbage collection is tomorrow, if not I wouldn’t know what to do with these.

    • 80sRobot

      Is die cast a recyclable?

  • 80sRobot

For those who complained about 5 POTA… here’s zero POTA. 🙂

    • CT-7567

      Ikr

  • Eyositer

    Junk

  • Diddly

Hasbro is finally giving fans the playsets they’ve wanted for years!

  • Boba Fettuccini

What a huge waste. What a huge, huge, huge waste of time and shelf space. Here we have a product that neither collectors nor children will want, that’s most likely going to be merchandised with toys.

  • RumSleg

STATIC (aka NO POA) 3.75″-scale statues for $15 each? Sounds like something that should be a Disney Store exclusive. I can’t imagine these will do well at places like Walmart. And if the paint apps aren’t flawless (not exactly Hasbro’s strength in recent years), these will look really bad. 🙁

    • They all have ball jointed shoulders, but yea that doesnt really help if they are pre-posed. Im interested in who the heads articulate, but it not easy to tell from the pictures.

  • TatooineSandworm

I think Gizmondo is confused. They state the line launches with these 5 figures…I think they meant to say the line ends with those 5 figures. I get it though. Easy mistake to make.
