Celebration Exclusive 6″ Luke X-wing Pilot Revealed

You’ve read the teases for a while but the latest edition of the Star Wars Show has revealed the Vintage Kenner style packaging for the 6″ Black Series line of 40th Anniversary figures. While not all figures are shown, they do reveal a special exclusive version of the Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) available at Star Wars Celebration.

  • Captain Yorr

    Hello
I’m not sure if this was already mentioned but this luke figure in x-wing outfifit was not part of the original 12. Yes he was a NEW HOPE figure, but released in the second was of figures. I think I brought the count up to 20 or 22. That wave included figures like Power Droid, Death Star Star Droid and the Cantina aliens. I don’t understand why they would pick this luke from this wave. I would have picked Blue Snaggletooth, he would have been a cool exclusive and from the correct wave. IF they wanted to do something special and exclusive from the original 12, there is really one one choice that has never truly been done. I would have made a 6 and 3.75 40th Anniversary 2017 Star Wars Celebration exclusive of the ORIGINAL DEATH SQUAD COMMANDER. Nothing the replacement name death star or star destroyer commander or what really heck the degraded him too. These are just my thoughts. Thank you for reading.

  • Zachary Hering

probably true, but I hope not. I want the figure, but could care less about the packaging. All mine get opened.

  • Zachary Hering

wonder if original will go down in price.

  • jacksonactionjackson

Aside from the 6 inch vintage, are there plans/rumors for any 3.75 vintage SA or 5POA (original molds) figures to be announced at Toy Fair?…and I don’t mean titanium.

I keep seeing posts on other sites about ‘hoping a certain rumor comes true’ that we haven’t seen yet?

  • Brian Beck

Alright now that everyone got that out of their system, does anyone (Jayson ) know what the msrp for these might be ? I’m guessing north of the regular black series price of $20 due to the packaging.

    • Bombadgungan

Now that everyone is done complaining, the hunt begins for them to add this to their collection. LOL! Funny how that works.

      • Brian Beck

        True dat

  • Jaken Wraith

This is the Luke from the Earlybird 40th Set. The new Vader comes with the Base for $39.99, and it will be all re-pack’s except the Imperial Commander, and the Jawa. The Leia will have the new, better Head Sculpt, and they will all have better Paint app’s. This is NOT a Convention Exclusive.

    • Luke (x-wing) is not in the early bird set

      • Jaken Wraith

Your right, i forgot “Farmboy” Luke is the Earlybird Fig. Then maybe it is a “one-off” for the Convention. This is supposedly the same Packaging for the coming Earlybird Set though.

  • Gloriouscollector

Let’s hope it’s just a stupid convention exclusive.

  • Adam Holt

Celebration only exclusive? So a $100 repack? I actually wouldn’t mind supporting a vintage themed line but not at exclusive prices! And if they are all going to be re-packs and I can’t complete the set at retail price I may not buy any of them.

  • Paulskywalker

Finally i might actually own a X Wing Luke, hope they do something with the rest of wave 1 so i can have them too.

  • RumSleg

Having the logo and name pill off-center really bugs me, for some reason.

    • jacksonactionjackson

Yep. It just doesn’t look right.

    • CT-7567

      Agreed.

    • Paul B

Don’t the GG jumbo vintage figures do the exact same thing?

      • RumSleg

Yes, and it bugs me there too. 🙂

  • Ah! now this is the comment section you want to be in!
I have always liked the “Foil” gimmicks on carbacks/cards even though it dulls the color, but I think that very reason is why they should have been more selective with the effect in this case. Those Saga Collection “Ultimate Galactic Hunt” come to mind. They just did the foil effect on the logo and if they had done it here, you would still get to see that great picture clearly.
…also is anyone else weirder out about the main logo and name-plate being off centered?

  • LesterF

Looks like crap! Off centered logo and name block. Ripping off Kenner in my opinion. Won’t be buying this line. Hasbro and Disney need to get a divorce.

    • Paulskywalker

Not actually ripping off Kenner if they own the rights to all of Kenner’s stuff?

      • LesterF

Way I see it, with Disney’s hand in the cookie jar, they’re jacking the price up on everything Star Wars, only because they’ve added there name to it, that is what Kenner originally produced.

        • Paulskywalker

Thing is this time every year toy companies jack the price up with no excuse. Toy companies are notorious for it. Like this year Lego decided that the EU Referendum was a great excuse to put the prices up even higher where i am. But i do admit Hasbro are right it is the retailers too sometimes, they had a thing the other week saying 5 POA rubbish RRP was £8.99, here though they are £10 in stores

  • Theater Geek

So Hasbro is releasing the scale we want but in 0POA metal figures and the scale we don’t want in TVC packaging? Wow, it’s like getting pooped on twice.

  • Fiery Little One

If they are going the rerelease route, this will be great for those of us that missed out the first time.

    • Brian B.

Agreed. Whether or not that Pilot Luke ends up in a regular release or not, I’d like a new shot at it. Plus they might tweak some of the older figures like R2 and maybe change up the Stormtrooper headsculpt, so a re-release would be welcome in those cases.

      • Fiery Little One

I could see minor tweaks, paint-job mostly, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t change anything up physically too.

        • Brian B.

Another, better scaled R2 would definitely catch my eye. And the new Vader, of course.

          • Fiery Little One

I don’t see them stopping use of the current R2 mold just yet. I didn’t even think the new Vader would be released this way… I look forward to seeing what they’ll reveal this weekend.

      • Paul B

Not to mention giving Darth Vader a solid, non removeable helmet.

        • CT-7567

The new Vader does look nice. The Stormtrooper could really use the collar piece like the one they tooled for Stormtrooper Han. The neck post sticks out badly. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/17eb98047dcaee469c607a69acd4f0a4eae83f45aa2e5967cf8da23e81b29dae.jpg

          • Paul B

            That’s a wonderful Darth Vader
Hopefully the actual production piece turns out half as nice.
The stormtrooper without that neck piece sticks out like a sore thumb.

          • Bombadgungan

Just how new is this Vader? 5%? 42.68%? 100%?

          • Brian B.

I wanna say at least 80%…I’m thinking they re-did the joints, sculpted new gloves, chest box, helmet…maybe even re-sculpted parts of the body to be more proportionate? There’s gotta be some re-use somewhere, though.

        • Brian B.

I have so much hope for that new Vader. They pinned it as “definitive” so hopefully they do get it right.

  • Rivesjunctionite

Really not what I was looking for, but cool for the 6″ collectors.
Is this the return of TVC that’s been rumored? Mwa ha ha ha haha !!

    • CT-7567

TVC is 3.75″ SA. Period. Anything else would just be a ripoff of TVC name

      • Rivesjunctionite

        If only…

        • CT-7567

You know, I have that X-Wing Luke and it’s actually a very nice figure. I just don’t understand why they are making everything but SA 3.75″ and I don’t really like the idea of 6″ n Kenner cards. I think replicas of the 12″ Kenner figure boxes would’ve been better. Having a selection of SA 3.75″ figures along side them would’ve been nice. Also, I really don’t want to buy figures I already have just for new packages or to have the set of twelve. I don’t mind 6″ figures, but I prefer 3.75″ and I can’t believe they wouldn’t honor that scale for an important anniversary. It was that scale that started it all…

          • Bombadgungan

Same here. I’m still sticking to my earlier statement back when these were rumored. Cool, but I don’t see myself rebuying the same 6″ figure at this point in my collecting just to have it on a nifty vintage-inspired cardback. I will only buy the characters I do not yet have. Forget having a complete carded set. Where would I put them?

  • Brian B.

The card’s huge! But I can store it like I stored my original VC cards, at least. Less space than the black series boxes for sure.

  • jacksonactionjackson

Is it a foil card? Can’t tell from the reflection in video?

  • Danny

So these will only be available at the celebration??

    • jedialex17

I’m sure there will be another version without the foil cardback hitting retail.

      • probably not of X-wing Luke

        • CT-7567

Ok, so as far as regular retail it’s the original twelve wth Vader coming with the stand and the early bird kit, right?

    • General Hux

They’ll probably be available on Hasbro Toy Shop too.

      • Danny

        i can’t order from their store…..[long story]

        • Does it end in “life-time ban”?

          • Danny

No, I’d have to legally change my name and address

          • I dare not pry further.

      • CT-7567

Do you think you’ll be breaking your 6″ rule and getting any of these, Hux?

        • General Hux

          We’ll see, maybe.

  • SlothFromHoth

Remember Krennic flipping out on Tarkin after the test fire on Jedha? That’s how I feel about 6″ figures on vintage cards.

    • Brian B.

“These are Kenner’s designs, NOT yours!”
