Official 3.75″ Fans’ Choice Poll Now Open

StarWars.com has updated today, activating the official Hasbro 3.75″ Fans’ Choice Poll! After asking the fans and culling the lists submitted by nearly two dozen participating fan organizations, the following characters have been selected:

Dr. Aphra, Yak Face (Saelt-Marae), Emperor Palpatine, Sim Aloo, Clone Trooper “Fives” and Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars Rebels)

The winner of this poll will be realized in super-articulated form and released on the Vintage Collection card back in 2018. Vote early, vote often.

  • Bombadgungan

Yakface for the win!!! Of course. 🙂

I felt compelled to get that out there. Now, in all honesty Sim Aloo is my personal choice. Just because he is such an enigma and I feel he has very little chance of being made outside of winning a Fans’ Choice Poll. Yakface is my #2, but I feel would likely be made at some point anyway. Emperor Palpatine (ROTJ) is also a great choice that sorely needs to be remade. I very much look forward to the eventual release of that one.

Dr. Aphra is an interesting EU character that I know nothing about. I’d be excited to pick on up if it got made, but I wouldn’t feel like I were missing anything if it weren’t. I’d definitely feel disenfranchised if she won the poll. How did Clone Trooper Fives come in ahead of Rex? I love Ahsoka, but I’m good for now. I’ve got teenage TCW animated 3.75″, young adult Rebels 5POA and TBS 6″ Rebels, not to mention TVC & TBS S/A 3.75″ releases of realistic TCW Ahsoka. Do I really need another when there are so many other characters that have never been made or have not been refreshed in over a decade?

This is a comment from starwars.com by Brian fetterolf :

Based on the 23 websites these are the
characters that got the most votes for each site.
    1st place Tonnika Sisters
2nd place tie between Ben Skywalker & Yakface
    3rd Pong Krell
    4th Dr. Aphra
    5th Sim Aloo
    6thArc Trooper Fives
    7th. Luke from TFA
8th tied between Satele Shan & Ahsoka Rebels
9th Tied between Jedi Temple Guard,Jaxxon, Padme, Dash rendar and Palpatine.
I had counted myself and this is exacly the results from the sites.
Can’t understand how Palpatine is in the final poll…
What a waste of time and waste for a collector “fan choices”
So disapointed… EU characters are not well known here in Europe (France). I don’t think Dr Aphra will be a good seller.
    So sad :_(

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Honestly, I think the whole Fans Choice thing is stupid. Hasbro should already know what to make and have a better idea on quantities to produce.

      • oolax

Yes ! And Now with the New films comics and cartoons hundreds of characters joined our beloved OT ones… How could They satisfy everybody ?

  • heybert17

Tried to vote but I just got “Uh Oh, Try Again Later”.

  • John Morin

Fellow collectors we forgot about Force Unleashed Characters, like those Terror Spider Droids, it would be easy for Hasbro to make these. Also don’t forget about Republic Commando Figures, Hasbro will not make this either.

  • Barney Dunn

Triple Zero and BT-1 would make more sense than Dr. Aphra.

    • LaurenceQuint

Um, no. Why would you want just another couple of droid variants? If they were in a comic pack with Aphra, fine. But on their own? Huh? Who cares?

  • LaurenceQuint

How does the voting actually work? I went to the link at starwars dot com and clicked on my favorite three times. Is there no security system in place? Was I actually doing anything?

    • El_tito

After you click the first time it should show the percentage they are at. You have to refresh the page to continue with a new vote.

      • LaurenceQuint

So you can just keep voting over and over? Um, how could that possibly go wrong??

  • Derian Stockburn

What a waste of a ‘fans choice’.

  • Zachary Hering

    I wanted krell so badly

    • Gloriouscollector

That would’ve been a big figure.

      • Zachary Hering

We were to get one beofre disney took over. 🙁

  • JasonH

    Pathetic choices, all of them.

  • LaurenceQuint

Oh, thank GOD Palpatine is on the list! Finally we will fill that glaring hole in our collections, since the previous 50 versions of him apparently weren’t enough…

    Seriously, WTF? Palpatine???

    • xdeathmedicx

There has not been a decent emperor figure. Several darth sidious but no emperor

      • Mother_Talzin

Theres certainly a segment of the OT collector crowd that thinks the previous versions weren’t good enough – I think the best solution is an Emperor / Sim Aloo 2-pack, which knocks two of these characters off the list at once. They could be packed in the TVC 2-pack boxes that were once KM exclusives years ago, but simply give them to a better retailer this time, like Target.

      • LaurenceQuint

These fan polls are best used to give us figures that have never existed (in the modern line) and likely would never exist otherwise. Characters that are a bit obscure that the company wouldn’t bother to make.

We have Asoka. As much as I hate 5POA, we already have a Clone Wars version. We have countless Emperors, even if some cranks don’t think they’re “good enough.” (and I can’t really disagree, as they are all flawed to one degree or another. But there are still plenty of options.)

I’m sure an Emperor figure will eventually get released. Let’s give the Doctor Aphras and Sim Aloos a chance that they would otherwise never have.

  • Punchy

I picked Ahsoka as I would be interested to see a Vintage Rebels card. Had not heard of Aphra until I saw her on this list.

  • Doog

Really disappointed that the Tonnika sisters didn’t make it. Of course, had they made it, I likely would have been voting from as many IP addresses as possible, which would have been quite the jerk move. So at least my single vote for Sim Aloo keeps me honest for at least this one, small area of my life.

  • Gloriouscollector

Dr. Aphra is the hipster of the Star Wars universe, stupid tattoo.

    • LaurenceQuint

Thank god there’s never been any overlap between Matrix and Star Wars design aesthetics…

      http://www.rebelscum.com/Hasbro-Star-Wars/The-Black-Series/Figures/14-Mara-Jade/photo-archive.asp

      • Gloriouscollector

        Eh…..that’s a reach,and I was talking about the tattoo.

        • LaurenceQuint

I know you were. My point is that there is bound to be at least some overlap in design aesthetics between various sci-fi/fantasy properties.

There’s nothing about Aphra’s tattoo that feels out of place in SW or too “matrix-like.”

And no, it’s not a reach to say that the Mara jade outfit is basically exactly like Trinity’s outfit.

  • Kevin Knight

#notthisfanschoice. I seriously need an explanation how the top choices clearly didn’t make the list. Why call it fans choice and then choose it yourself. Only options now are yak or sim.

    • Doog

Ben Skywalker or the Tonnikas might already be in development, hence their exclusion from the list. Not that I expect this to be the case

      • EntEarthAdam

Hasbro has frequently included figures already in development in the voting (and sometimes they were already in production) on the list over the years, so while it’s possible it’s been unlikely historically.

        • Doog

You’re correct and all, but do you really have to so heartlessly quash my delusional rationale for the lack of Tonnika amongst the options?

Was it Mara Jade who won a fans’ choice despite being in development?

          • EntEarthAdam

I don’t know that Mara was, but Kir Kanos *definitely* was in development before the poll where he was an option. I’m trying to remember which other ones were….

      • LaurenceQuint

Ben Skywalker is a terrible, idiotic choice for a figure. Exceedingly obscure and from Legends material that is old and forgotten.

It also doesn’t make sense for Disney to release a character that would just create massive confusion with a major character in the sequel trilogy who has a similar name and similar story function.

If Hasbro/Disney did veto Ben Skywalker, it was 100% the right call.

        • Doog

Dude, I’m willing to beat the drum for Zayne Carrick, so obscure, boring humans from the Legends apparently aren’t an issue as far as I am concerned. Note that I am not necessarily proud of this desire. And at least Ben Skywalker is way, way down my list of obscure, human character desires.

Your other point about confusing the storylines is a good one. But I am against Hasbro/Disney vetoing any character from the poll unless that figure is already on its way. Had the powers that be decided to unilaterally nix the Tonnikas (who, incidentally, could well be retail poison), I would be writing them a strongly worded letter about how they had wildly misinterpreted the the “Fans” portion of “Fans’ Choice”.

          • LaurenceQuint

Of course Hasbro/Disney reserves the right to veto. And they should. They are still a business and, as much as they want this figure to be fan-driven, have to be realistic not to throw money away if the fans choose something moronic.

      • Who the hell started that rumor anyways? It does seem more than implausible.

  • Lando Griffin

If we vote Yak, it’s doubtful we’ll see Sim. However, if Sim wins, we will still see Yak at some point over the next 3 years.

  • Littlegreenwiseguy

Voted SIM ALOO. WTF is Doctor Aphra on there!? Wasted slot.

    • tyehyll

And yet, she’s winning and will likely win.

    • She is the more interesting than half of the other available characters.

      • LaurenceQuint

By far. I used to buy all the comic packs even though I never read the comics because they had fresh and original designs and helped flesh out the line (and the universe) from the same old boring choices.

  • tyehyll

    Aphra FTW!!!

  • Mother_Talzin

As much as I like YF, I voted for Sim Aloo. YF and the Emperor at least have modern figures. Sim Aloo is a Kenner only figure, begging to make the vintage resculpts complete.

  • Sith Lord Jacen

Yak Face #1 Emperor #2 we don’t have these awesome figures on TVC but there is a Battle Droid..

  • Firdaus Yahaya

Fives please! We need Pong Krell too

  • Lance

Once you go yak you never go back.

  • Jay Radd

    Yak to the Face.

  • jedicrippler

Sorry, but Sim Aloo is my choice. The only vintage figure that hasn’t even remotely come close to being updated in the modern line. At least the Star Destroyer Commander, Power Droid, and Bespin Guard are basically repaints/minor re-tools of existing figures to get right.

    • Mateo Galvez

Right! That’s my vote! 🙂 The imperial dignitary is a really interesting character. I’ve been tempted to purchase one but I’m too cheap to fork over 80 dollars for a loose figure.

    • jedipatrick

Sim Aloo has simply no chance against Ahsoka, Doctor Aphra and other EU characters. Although I would love to see him as well, let’s get real, voting for Sim is a path to Doctor Aphra’s victory…

    • Mother_Talzin

I agree, Sim Aloo will complete the Kenner vintage movie figures. I hope he’s made.

  • Fiery Little One

I voted through JTA for Aphra. (shrug) From what I’ve read she seems interesting.

    • You should read the Vader comics she appears in. I guess she has her own series now, but I havent gotten around to it yet, but her first role in the Vader comics was enough to warrant a figure. She is a really fun and crazy character that isnt a rehash of previously seen character types. How can you not like someone who is introduced while in the middle of a heist to steal the personality chip of a homicidal protocol droid just so she can have him activate a homicidal astromech droid. On top of that, we get an homage to Indiana Jones as she is trying to outrun a rolling destroyer droid!

      • Fiery Little One

Based off of that description of how she was introduced? SOLD! As soon as they release an omnibus of the Vader series I’ll pick it up.

    • Brent6118

I think an Aphra figure would be coming even if she doesn’t win the poll. She is a very popular new character from the Marvel Star Wars Comics. Hopefully Triple Zero will be next since he is merely a C-3p0 repaint.

      • Brent6118

I did vote for Sim Aloo though. (I believe Aphra is already in the plans whether Hasbro puts a “fan choice” label on the card or not.)

      • Fiery Little One

That’s possible, but I was thinking about who hasn’t gotten a figure at all out of the choices we were given. As far as I’m aware that only applies to Aphra, so I voted accordingly. (shrug) And yes, BT-1 and 0-0-0 would be great companion figures. With 0-0-0 being the easier one to make.

  • Danny
  • Are you trying to tell me something? 🙂 He has my vote too!

  • jedipatrick

The circle is now complete! And this is your chance to be part of it!

Long time collectors unite! Choose your Fate. #VoteYakFace

  • Matthew Ruch

Disappointed there’s no Pong Krell, but still good choices. Rooting for Ahsoka!!!

    • Mother_Talzin

Disappointed as well – would make for a far more interesting figure than Aphra!

      • Zachary Hering

I agree, but Krell really needs a six inch version to fully capture his size. Deluxe figure. I’d pay like 1,000 for him.

  • Zedrick

Doctor Aphra FTW!!! I am almost certain she will win due to her never having a figure before and being very popular now.

    • Zedrick

Palpatine is such a wasted option to be honest, we have tons of SA
Palp’s out there… If Fives wins, he better not look like the example
image to chose to show for him…

      • LaurenceQuint

Fives. Palps and even Ashoka are bad choices. There are a billion Palpatines, three Asokas and enough clone trooper variants to reach to Pluto and back again.

Sim Aloo and Aphra are the only decent choices here. (Sorry, YF)

        • There is no acceptable ROTJ Emperor Palpatine figure.

          • LaurenceQuint

Saga, Legacy, Evolutions. Plenty of acceptable options. These polls are designed to give obscure figures who might otherwise never see plastic a chance.

          • WolfStark

I don’t even get the argument “no acceptable” as if a new figure would be suddenly perfect. The vote is not for a Hot Toys definitive ROTJ screen accurate Palpatine, just for a 10 Dollar TVC Emperor Palpatine. I think they should have never included Palpatine, Fives or Ahsoka, there are enough Emperors and they will do more anyway, Clones are everywhere and Ahsoka got enough attention just last year. Half the characters in the poll are contrary to the polls purpose. At least Sim Aloo, Aphra and Yak Face deserve their spot.

          • LaurenceQuint

110% agree. Let’s give the love to the figures who would otherwise never get a shot.

(That said, if Aphra comes in a very close second, I hope they’d use it as justification to start at least a limited return of Comic Packs. Just repaint a protocol droid for 000 and hit the ground running.)

      • Bombadgungan

In my opinion Emperor Palpatine is a legitimate candidate. Sure we have great TPM and TESB Darth Sidious/Emperor figures, but we’ve never had a decent one from his most iconic role in ROTJ. I refuse to accept the figure I call “sad sack Emperor”. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/895c0c1fcd4a6ac7bde4c123e3fc3b61a5f4011cb64d5b4c083dd72cb7b09c7f.jpg

  • Nexus✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Wasn’t there already the ahsoka 3.75 black series? Would we really need another?

    • El_tito

Yeah I’m sure there was.i can’t find the link.

    • Zedrick

This version is for her Rebels look, the other one already released is for her Clone Wars look.

      • LaurenceQuint

The 5POA rebels head fits perfectly on the SA Clone wars body. Come on, people, use your imaginations and don’t waste slots on figures that already exist!
