We should have a poll for who will buy this, just based on the information we have at this time. I’m in for a no.

  • LaurenceQuint

This is not for me, but I don’t hate it. Looks like it could be fun for kids, the size is fairly impressive and it seems like it tries (maybe too hard?) to be kid friendly with some adult interest, too.

However, given how the AT ACT bombed at a high price point, I can’t imagine this one won’t be discounted very quickly. Spend Two Hundred bucks on it at your peril…

  • Paulskywalker

The jewellery in smokes left hand makes him look like his got a cigar from a distance.

  • mic windu

That’s disappointing. The back of the packaging doesn’t show Snoke sitting in his throne…

Oh yeah coz it would of looked crap because his knees don’t bend!! Enough of 5poa!!

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Where are you seeing the back of the box? I just see the front.

      • CT-7567

Do you think the back of BB-8 opens too? I really need to know to decide if it’s worth the price. Snoke having to stand on his throne is just sad. That kind of thing would have been acceptable in the Kenner days, but now it’s just lazy. I mean, for $200 they couldn’t design a 7poa Snoke that can sit??

  • Jamie Biggs

So I show the pics to my wife (not a Star Wars expert by any means) and she notices the Snoke figure and says…

“Looks like Goldmember from Austin Powers.. “

  • Unlucky in Kentucky

The most important question, at least to me is, WHERE THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT THIS THING?

    • Rivesjunctionite

I’ve had that problem for years. Just keep buying, like a crazy cat lady.

  • Do not post the pics in the comments, the images are at the provided links. Posts with images will be deleted.

    • CT-7567

Dude, you’re killing it with the FF reveals. 🙂 Thank you.

  • Rykrof_Enloe

Regarding the throne.. notice how tall it is, but the “butt” part you sit on is extremely low to the ground. I wonder if they redesigned it so this poorly articulated Snoke could sit on it.

    • Matthew Leuck

I noticed that, too, and think it is DEFINITELY the case. The fully-posable one may need a booster seat…

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Did anyone ever buy that 12th Parsec Death Star set? It looked a little rough, but some sandpaper and some customization skills could make it shine.

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Did not, though I did like much of the layout and design. The 3D printing just looked too rough on it and I didn’t want to have to try and customize it. I am hoping GTP-Toys is paying attention to that design though!

    • Rivesjunctionite

I got one. It is pretty rough, but it looks good with my figures on it. I like it.

    • Dave

I did and was extremely disappointed with the quality. I tried sanding it and it didn’t help. Quality is low res crap. I have never regretted a purchase more. Will never buy from 12th Parsec again.

  • Matthew Leuck

With what Hasbro has been giving us for our money in recent years, this is actally much cooler than I expected it to be. When it is open, you can’t really tell that it folds up in to BB-8, and it looks to be a good… 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide? It’ll be a nice centerpiece for a First Order display. If this does well, hopefully Hasbro will consider more playsets, of various sizes and price points. While many collectors may not like the fold-up feature, parents will LOVE that it makes for easy storage and clean-up, and kids will like that it is (what looks to be a life-sized) BB-8. $200.00 may not be a small sum, but considering Hasbro wanted $30.00 for Hera’s A-Wing (a $10.00 small Nerf gun with a 5 POA figure included), and $300.00 for the AT-ACT (which should have been half that), I actually expected this set to be much crappier.

  • Paulskywalker

Is there another part to it around the other side? Look at the bottom of whatever the lower part in the centre, there seems to be something going behind it.

    • Matthew Leuck

Yeah… while I would love it if there was an additional playset area, maybe it is storage space, so people can store additional figures and such in the back of the playset when it is folded up?

      • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Buy some Space Walls to extend the sides, park some TIE Fighters.

      • CT-7567

If it doesn’t at least have figure storage that’s pretty lazy.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Snoke has been in BB-8 THE WHOLE TIME!

    • Rykrof_Enloe

      Genius!

  • David James Downey

Looks good from the small pictures. If this was say a death star instead of bb8 more people would be happy. I like it.

    • The pics are quite large on Amazon

      • Rykrof_Enloe

True, but I think he means close ups of the actual interior of the playset. This thing is growing on me though, I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to examine the interior more.

        • Looks like Snoke is going to be standing on his throne.

          • Joe G

That’s the first thing I noticed. While I’m definitely going to get me one of these, I can’t believe Hasbro’s stupidity on this…make a throne with a figure that can’t sit on it.

Here’s to hoping Snoke gets released in TVC next year.

          • It would have made SO much more sense if they had an exclusive sitting Snoke for this pack, as im sure snoke will get his own release later, in which case they could have used a standing version.

          • Rykrof_Enloe

Or articulated, for the love of God!

          • I was never an optimist when it comes to most things. Even more so now with hasbro.

          • CT-7567

            Exactly!

      • CT-7567

Is this something you’d get? I can easily see this on clearance in January. But I kind of like it.

    • Stereotypical Evil Archer

A Star Destroyer that could fold open into a large playset makes more sense than a BB-8.

Will the Resistance Base fold up into a giant Porg?

      • Rykrof_Enloe

        It turns into Vader’s helmet

      • Matthew Leuck

        A giant Admiral Ackbar head!!!

  • General Hux

We’ll, it’s not terrible but it’s not great. I like the Snoke figure and the Guard but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of playability with the set itself. Obviously this is for kids so I’m not gonna be a tough critic.

    • Rykrof_Enloe

True, but I do think they took into account the thinking of “display piece” too – and it has some good display elements. So I’d say 75% kid appeal was their intention, but also tried to throw a bone at the older crowd.

      • General Hux

That’s a good point, I really wish this was cheaper, because I do like certain aspects of it. And I have a lot of First Order troopers so I kinda feel a need for this thing lol.

    • Fluke Skycrawler

So was the original Death Star, and it had a working trash compactor and elevator, retractable bridge, and exploding canon. Most importantly each floor had for surface area. Where are the figures gonna stand if kids want to bring captured fighters before snoke. Throne room barely has enough room for snoke and his guard. This has no playability other than electronic noises. The box doesn’t show off any features except force link.

      • Rykrof_Enloe

Well, the main level looks like you could easily stand 15 or so figures on it. I think we need to see a lot more pics on this before we can really judge it all fairly. I am hoping the back of the box reveals a lot more.

      • General Hux

Okay grumpy collector, don’t get too worked up over toys.

        • Fluke Skycrawler

I was supporting your point that this one has no playability, so compared it to the Kenner’s death star, you stupid idiot.

    • CT-7567

It would make a nice FO display….

      • General Hux

Yes it would…And my First Order army is pretty big so I think I need this.

        • CT-7567

I want it. I just don’t want to get it for $200 and then have it go on clearance. You got tge RO two-packs, right? I paid full price for those and seeing them show up at Five Below really burns. I also would like to see if the back of the set opens up. Even the if it’s just storage for figures it would be logical to use the space for something.

  • Rykrof_Enloe

The more I look at this, the more it’s growing on me. It’s quite a bit better from what I was “dreading.”

    • General Hux

Yeah, I think I would like it more if it wasn’t $200.

      • Stereotypical Evil Archer

I don’t see how this is over $80. Barbie and Batman playsets look bigger than this and they are in the $80 range.

Unless when in BB-8 form it can roll around and follow you like a puppy.

        • General Hux

I’m just hopping there’s a little more to it, it seems like the Force Link feature is a substitute for having it battery powered.

        • Rykrof_Enloe

One of the things that truly sucks is Star Wars pricing is always premium pricing. Especially with the “Hasbro tax.” If this were Jakks Pacific, with same quality, I’d say it would be about $150. I do think it looks worth $150 though.

      • CT-7567

Wait a few months. This is the Nerf Falcon and AT-ACT if this year. I got the Falcon for $35. It just took a little time. 🙂

    • CT-7567

      Me too.

  • Robert Collins

This would make more sense done as BB-9E…

    • Rykrof_Enloe

I don’t disagree, but at least in display form, from the front angle you don’t see any hint of BB-8’s color scheme.

    • Matthew Leuck

BB-8 is a well-known character, who is well-loved by many (especially kids), so it makes sense.

  • *SPOILERS BELOW*

JUST REVEALED: Snoke’s FULL name revealed!!:

    Supreme Leader Snoke Hefner

    • Fluke Skycrawler

      Ha, Ha, Ha… hilarious.

  • SID

EQUAL PARTS NEAT / POINTLESS. What a waste of $$$.

  • MyenShi

I don’t know if making it look like BB-8 drove the cost up, or if they made it look like BB-8 to justify what was going to already be a high cost.

I feel like they would’ve been better off either breaking this up into 3 or so smaller playset at $30-50 each, or making it a simple box/case that folds out for $100-150.

Even without knowing all the details, $200 feels way too high for the average shopper, let alone collectors who are wary about Hasbro.

I’ll probably get it to save for future kids if it goes down to $50 somewhere. That’s how much I got the AT-ACT for on Amazon.

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Or, why not make it 2 or 3 sided and lose the transforming feature all together? This has Steve Evans fingerprints all over it. Good intentions, but trying too hard to be clever and thus losing appeal. I wish they’d use a more common sense approach.

Again though, I don’t HATE this thing. I just see missed opportunity for greatness.

      • CT-7567

Agreed. I really don’t think Evans understands the audience he’s selling this stuff to. I replied to him in a thread over at JTA with the whole idea of TVC “conversation” in my mind. Paul said I was harassing him. So I guess it’s s conversation between Hasbro and website owners only.
        :-p

  • Vadersaber

Hasbro has their heads up their…. I hope all you vintage collection fans are prepared to be disappointed.

  • Paulskywalker

Not to sure what to make of it so far. Just feel like saying the Hasbro so near yet so far. It’s the BB8 thing, it just doesn’t lend itself to it. Also 2 in 1, from a 3.75 stand point it’s not.

  • Rivesjunctionite

Odd. I don’t hate it. I wasn’t expecting to not hate it. Confusing.
It doesn’t have a lot of features on the playset side. Wish it transformed into something other than BB-8. So I don’t love it either.
Maybe I’m just starved for playsets.

  • Fluke Skycrawler

The previous one they did for younger kids looks way better than this one. When opened, it looks like that cardboard death star play set that was sold at Toys R Us. No one is buying that thing at their proposed price point. This thing will be on clearance on arrival like the Rouge One Walker.

    • Rykrof_Enloe

I think a lot of this will depend on how fast it makes it to retail. I think $200 for this looks much better than $300 for that walker.

      • CT-7567

Maybe it’ll only be half price when it hits. Like the AT-ACT. 🙂

      • Fluke Skycrawler

Guess I was right. Latest post reveals Walmart has already slapped these with clearance stickers.

        • That’s not the clearance price. It’s Walmart reg. retail price.

  • CG

That Snoke looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see a 3.75SA version

  • Rykrof_Enloe

I will wait for larger close up pics to make a final decision on this, because it’s not horrible, it’s just not that impressive, either. Hasbro should be able to do better, and they can.

If this diehard fan (and his 10-year old son) pass on it, that’s probably more $$ for http://galactictradingpost.com/ – at least then, I can make the scenes modular and customize them however we want. And my son now has some walls too, he loves them every bit as much as I do.

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/0e74074c4f06e5bf4584d90250fcf89f1ac4751b95e36809faa79dbc88c3c58d.jpg

  • Rykrof_Enloe

Just showed to my 10 year old son.

He’s kind of at the edge of his “liking action figures” right now. From ages 4-9, he was a diehard. The past couple of years, he’s been gravitating more towards games. But he still likes his GI JOE stuff a ton, and wants more of it. He still plays with his toys, but not as much as in the past.

I just showed him the playset to get his opinion. His initial reaction was “Whoa!” when I showed him Snoke. Then he asked if he has good articulation, and he said “Why don’t they do that for him? He’s the leader of the First Order!”

Then, I showed him the playset. His eyes popped out of his head and he said, “They’re making Snoke’s base?!?!” He was very impressed, especially at first.

He studied it some and said he likes it. But then he asked “why Stormtroopers are on the walls” – he didn’t like that. He also commented that “Snoke can’t even sit in his throne!” He did like that it appeared there was a trash compactor, and perhaps torture rack at the bottom of the set.

I asked him on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the best, how he would rate it. He thought for a moment and said either a 7 or 8. I asked him if he wanted it for Christmas, he said “I don’t know, I’d rather have the Terror Drome (he wants a classic 1980’s Terror Drome).

So that’s his reaction. He’s now playing a video game with his sister.

    • bmales01

I’d rather have the Terrordrome too. Smart kid.

      • Elvinajschwarz

    • CT-7567

I had the Terrordrome. It was WAY better than this playset.

      • Rykrof_Enloe

        Me too!

  • Boba Fettuccini

Im down for the playset. I wouldn’t be able to justify a large playset that doesn’t have some way of downsizing for storage because I simply don’t have space, and given the housing trends in my area, probably never will. I can’t think of anything else it would make sense for it to fold down into anyway, and the BB-8 mode doesn’t look bad.

  • Rykrof_Enloe

I’m really torn on this. For years I’ve been one of the most vocal members of the forum community saying Hasbro needs to make some playsets.

Now that’s finally happening, I’m not very pleased with the execution. Maybe larger pics will change my mind, but from what I can see, I don’t care for the aesthetics… and it looks like the walls are stickers… Ugh.

    • bmales01

I agree. I am not really sure why is had to be set in BB-8. It constricts the design and layout. And I thought the walls were cardboard from the pic.

      • Rykrof_Enloe

And what’s the point in a throne if Snoke can’t even sit in it properly? Wow, so many resources go into this and this is what they think people want? Sigh. I’ll show it to my son for his opinion.

        • bmales01

I really dont know. I am curious to your son’s opinion; what’s his age? I want to know if Yazflow used a focus group of a similar age that greenlit this thing.

  • Sithewok

Wow, that looks awful for the price. Not even sure I would buy it at half price.

    • bmales01

This thing will be sitting around forever, most likely with the pack-in figures lifted out
