New Disney Store Toybox Action Figures

ShopDisney has been teasing a mysterious line of Disney Infinity-inspired figures on their website for the past couple of days and now we have a slightly better look thanks to Toy Run Facebook group member, Jose Rivera.

The new Toybox Action Figure line features 14 points of articulation, accessories and more. Look for these exclusively at Disney Store and ShopDisney.com starting November 3.

Thanks to Corey from First Order Transmissions for the heads up.

UPDATE: Added another image in the comment section.

Depending on how aggressively these are priced compared to Hasbro’s action figures of similar scale, I’m ALL IN on these.

    Im loving these toybox figures.
    Absolutely awesome….
    Only one big problem..
    Where is spiderman???

  • Rykrof_Enloe

Nice, but too animated for my liking. I won’t be purchasing these unless there’s some cool droids or aliens, but even then, I doubt it.

  • Bombadgungan

With their highly stylized aesthetic, these remind me of the original Clone Wars line of figures. Kind of cool. I don’t know that I’m open to collecting another line of figures at this point, but who knows. I may get suckered in once a wider range of characters are shown.

  • Nate Hurianek

For anyone wondering about the size of these compared to Infinity figures, they are larger. Not much, but the difference is noticeable. These ToyBox figures seem to be 3.75-4″ while the Infinity figures were around 3-3.5″.

    • ronstoneygold

That’s because the Infinity figures were crouching or posed in action. Most of the figures were not in an erect standing position. I have everyone made.

Based on the height measurements you give, it sounds like the scale is exactly the same.

      • Nate Hurianek

I get what you’re saying, about the Infinity figure poses, but after seeing these new ToyBox figures up close, they are in fact larger, not much, but they are bigger.

  • Richard Grissom Jr.

    These will be $12.95 each.

    • ronstoneygold

If that is the price, these are a guaranteed hit with 14 points of articulation.

      • Richard Grissom Jr.

That’s what my store told me. Hope it’s true. These kinda got me excited. Lolz.

    • Mother_Talzin

I wonder what market these are geared for at that pricepoint? Are they expecting kids to purchase them or adult collectors?

  • mic windu

Could this be Disney dipping their toe into 3.75 articulated figures? They already have 6 and 12 inch scale… only a matter of time for them to take it all on.

Hasbro should be ashamed of themselves, their penny pinching ways and muddled management on the 3.75 line has tarnished it and their reputation. By doing too many lines in different scales (poorly) they have allowed cracks to appear for others companies to rise up, compete with and take their place.

These look cool but I won’t be getting any.

    • 80sRobot

I honestly wonder if Hasbro even wants to make 3.75″ scale anymore. (They appear to have dropped the format entirely for Marvel.) They seem to only make them for SW out of tradition (and begrudgingly so) but perhaps mostly in order to hold onto the entire SW license. Otherwise, if they declined, then maybe Disney would take the entire SW license away.

      • Alexis Lasek

They still make 3.75 for MArvel, its just called MArvel Legends 3.75 now. Its less than b4 but they do.

        • LaurenceQuint

Every movie seems to bring one to two items in this scale. There’s two Thor two-packs (though one is obscure Thor comic book figures, which makes zero sense), there was a Doctor Strange quasi-two pack. An Ant-Man with Ant, Falcon and Cap with motorbike for Cap 2. A Spider-man and vulture two pack. Nothing for Civil War, IIRC.

    • 80sRobot

In all seriousness, I think Lucasfilm/Disney should consider letting other companies make 3.75″ figures, though on a case by case basis and under special categories.

For example, I could see Funko making ReAction figures of characters from the OT that were never made by Kenner, in the classic Kenner style. Imagine a few R2 droids seen in the OT done in the original classic R2-D2 style, the Rebel Trooper, other Mos Eisley cantina patrons done in classic Kenner style. Kenner never made a Sandtrooper. The list goes on.

Second, have another company make SA 3.75″. If they’re Imperial troopers, perhaps they could be made of die cast.

Hasbro could still make basic 5 POTA that are meant for children. They could still make 6″ for the adult collectors.

      • Alexis Lasek

I like the idea of Reaction figures for Star Wars but it would have to be Super 7 as Funko gave Reaction back to them as they were not selling well enough for Funko. Funko now does much more articulated 3 3/4 figures!

      • mic windu

Completely agree, a major missed opportunity has been Rebels. Where has the toy line been to support this? With the animated style someone like Disney could/ should of made a line of figures and vehicles (similar to how the 3.75 started in the first place). There is so much star wars now, it should be divided up so each respective company can get behind there product and make it the best it can be, then allow the market to decide what they want rather than one major company making piss poor attempts at everything!!

  • LaurenceQuint

I feel like I’m gonna blow a gasket here. So this silly looking things can have Fourteen POA, but the hasbro mainline is still stuck in the late Seventies.

    UGH.

These are cute, but I was never one for highly stylized items like this, whether funko pops or whatever. Maybe I’m too literal sometimes, but gimme classic action figures with realistic appearance all the way.

  • ObiWanKenobiJibberish

    Need the Kenobi and Yoda!

  • Max

Definitely looking forward to these. Hopefully, there will be some prequel trilogy and Rogue One stuff. Well, all I want is General Grievous in Disney Infinity style. He looked gorgeous in that game.

  • nate e.

looks like Hasbro’s gi Joe action vinyl line

  • JohnMorog

These are produced by Disney, not Hasbro, right?

    • Mother_Talzin

Is it just me or does Rey look like Shmi Skywalker in this figure?

      • Zachary Hering

        kinda

    • CT-7567

Are these the same size as the statues from the game? I’m actually excited for these. The Stormtrooper looks fantastic.

    • Bombadgungan

Call me weird, but when I look at this picture I see the next evolution of Jedi Force/Galactic Heroes.

  • ronstoneygold

Wonder what the height on these will be. Infinity line was same height as Hasbro’s action figure line—with different cartoon-like proportions.

    • I hear about 4″ or so.

      • CT-7567

That’s perfect. 🙂 If you had to guess at a price, what would you say?$14.99?

    • Richard Grissom Jr.

Most Disney Stores have an in-store sample figure. My store let me mess with it. My Store’s sample was Buzz Lightyear.

  • ronstoneygold

    I’m in.

    • Michael Hawkins

RON, what if they finally make the tonnika sisters but only in this format?

      • ronstoneygold

        Bittersweet.

Though my new hope is to have the Tonnika Sisters make an appearance in Solo. They would obviously be recast for a younger age. THEN…

…that opens the door for a clean path to Tonnika Sisters as action figures.

        • Michael Hawkins

OH MAN!!! I never thought of that! That would be a great idea! I hope they do it.

        • Bombadgungan

What time is the Han Solo movie set in? 10 years before A New Hope?

          • ronstoneygold

            That sounds good, I guess.
I always thought of the Tonnika Sisters as being in their late twenties to early thirties in ANH. So they would be in their late teens to early twenties if in the Solo movie.

  • Paulskywalker

Part of me is like ugh do we really need another action figure line and the other part thinks they look cool. 14 POA too, be ironic if they end up cheaper than Hasbro’s 5 POA.

  • Mother_Talzin

Makes sense that they are exclusives, I doubt stores like TRU would touch anything that looks Infinity related, considering all the pegwarmers. They look pretty cool, but availability (no Disney store less than an hour away from me) will be an issue. Likewise, no mention of pricepoint?
