What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that’s all but vanished from Japan nowadays?
Well, I tried my best. Apologies in advance for not living up to Venus Wars standards.
Drawn and animated by yours truly over 4 years’ worth of weekends, with music by the living guitar solo Zak Rahman and sound design by up and coming audio technician Joseph Leyva. Fans of Lucasarts’ seminal 1994 TIE Fighter game may notice a few familiar sights and sounds. That “incoming missile” noise gives me horrible flashbacks to this day…

Gentle Giant/The 3D Studio has launched their all-new website and they are offering their first preorder – a set of AT-AT mini bookends for $225.00. Interestingly, the sculpt for these was teased a few days ago via their YouTube video, which should support the thoughts that other unannounced items in that video will probably see the light of day.
Digitally sculpted by the master artisans at Gentle Giant Ltd., the AT AT Mini Bookends features the mechanical monstrosities as they were seen traversing the terrain on the planet Hoth in pursuit of the Rebel Alliance. Crafted using only the highest quality polystone, each limited-edition hand-painted bookend set comes individually numbered and is packed with a matching certificate of authenticity.
Even as the holidays quickly approach, the deluge of collecting news and speculation is flowing as fast as ever. On this week’s show, Flyguy and I break down the latest info from Hasbro, Sideshow, Bandai, S.H.Figuarts, Hot Wheels, and more. Gentle Giant looks to be teasing some great product for 2015, what it is exactly is anyone’s guess but we are giddy in its potential. The biggest news of the week though was the (partial) character names released for The Force Awakens. What do they mean and will we have to “unlearn what we have learned” based on prior speculation and leaks? Finally, Flyguy and I run down a few reviews and new acquisitions — all this and much more on Episode 44 of The Realm Recap.
After a day that is surely to be long-remembered, Yakface and Flyguy are back this week to discuss the new teaser trailer for The Force Awakens! All this and more on Episode 42 of The Realm Recap.
Despite opinions to the contrary, the Black Series Darth Vader (#26) suffered from a horrible neck design the essentially rendered the figure to “look, don’t touch” status. We are very happy to share that Hasbro has indeed addressed the known issue (by their admission) and the Black Series #03 Vader now features an updated sculpt with longer neck peg.
