Ok I have a beef with these newer Lego sets. They got way too customized. Back in the day you had maybe 30 dnffereit types of pieces each with multiple dnffereit colors and that was pretty much it. There were a few specialty pieces here and there but they were across the entire family of sets (like those special windows for Space Police). Now they have Star Wars sets with special pieces for each of the ships and even specific characters with dnffereit faces! Don’t get me wrong: they are really cool. I just feel like its cheating, and in some way takes away from the Lego experience. When I was a kid I had to make a lightsaber out of the general pieces that came with the space ship sets (it was respectable too). I even tried to make an X-wing. It wasn’t that great, but it was still cool that Lego pieces were made in such a way that I could come anywhere near a ship that looked like an X-wing so long as you use some creativity. Now Legos seem to be about building the boxed set and not about messing around with a bunch of random pieces to see what you come up with. Ok, thats my rant. Given that, I will admit though that I am a little jealous they didn’t come out with these sets when I was a kid. They did a really awesome job and I would have been all over them. I’m actually still tempted whenever I’m at Target.-Sean
