I still think that this may have more to do with Q3’s “revenue recognition” rather than how anything is actually moving in stores, and isn’t related to Q2. Some companies don’t recognize revenue until after a product is delivered.

Yeah, I do agree that the 2013-2014 approach is looking better overall than their 2012 strategy. The biggest improvement, in my opinion, is they haven’t flooded the market with an onslaught of product at the onset this time around.

I certainly agree with the majority of what you’re saying, however, retail orders products way ahead. If this was just retail ordering for a line launch it would have showed up in Q2. Let me be clear, I have no interest in the six inch line, found the black series 3.75 wave one disappointing, and despise the 5 POA line. That said, the subsequent waves of TBS 3.75 look great and the 5 POA stuff is selling well in my neck of the woods. I think as a whole, collecting today is better than it was in 2012 (I’m no longer concerned for the future of the license as I was in ’12).

Actually I don’t believe their revenue is based on what we’re buying the last month or two.. it’s what the retailers ordered. They ordered new product for Q3-Q4 for the first time in a LONG time. That’s what their increase in earnings represents.

I believe Hasbro’s 3Q profit rises are very deceiving. It’s not what’s selling at retail – it’s what retailer ORDERED from Hasbro for the new launch. That is what drives Hasbro’s revenue – what the retailers order. Each time there is a new line, the retailers order in bulk. That’s what happened. They likely ordered more in Q3 2013 than the past 3 quarters combined because of the Movie Heroes and TVC Phantom Menace logjam. Back when Fighter Pods launched, they reported an increase in revenue based on those, and they actually tanked at retail.

I think that’s partially because the market is starved for NEW products, not the constant repacks that plagued 2012
the few of us that did buy these things, we bought them because they are new

instead, I’m told to buy the final waves of MH figures from overseas markets, and I am presented with much lower articulated figures of the same characters that I already have multiple figures of

I sure hope Hasbro gets their act together for episode 7

I don’t want to even imagine what life would be like with new star wars movies but no action figures to go with
