It looks exactly like a Henson Creature Shop creation to me.

I am guessing they decided to show this one creature because it is in the background somewhere and will be one of tho hose blink and you’ll miss it things.

Abrams has said he was going to use practical effects over CGI and CGI would only compliment things. Plus Serkis maybe be a human, as he does act without CGI.

There were plenty of costume/puppet/masked characters in they background of all three prequels too. Even in the Mos Espa market which looks very similar to this set. Besides there would be no reason for them to create an expensive, time consuming CG creature for a quick video like this. Just grab one of the “extras”.

I think with he inclusion of Andy Serkis to the cast we can be very much assured that CG and CG characters will be a big part of this movie. And for me that’s not a bad thing. I don’t mind CG. I grew up with the OT when they were new and we would have been thrilled to see something as realistic as Watto in Star Wars instead of recycled werewolf masks!
