Those are two interesting choices.

I’d have no problem with Hasbro not having exclusives for conventions. The only one’s who’d lose out are the people who run the convention; every exclusive is another draw to get people in the door.

I like your second idea. Create enough product so that the demand is met. Convention goers get first crack, and at reduced prices. Then after some grace period the rest of us get to buy it online. Hasbro could make some more money if they’d just release the 6″ Carbonite Han. What on earth is stopping them?

LOL! It’s not your ire that worries me. 😉 But yeah, I was actually thinking that as well as I wrote my post. That there would no doubt be some very upset fans that wouldn’t have a chance at it. I’m not sure what the answer is. Never ever have convention exclusives? Maybe instead of convention exclusives in the true sense of the word, make them more convention “debuts”, where they are available for the first time at a given convention, but then make them available to online retailers after the fact?

How sweet would that be, eh? With his throne, and the ability to sit. Would’ve made for one bada$$ exclusive.

The back-lash, of course, being the ire of fans who couldn’t make the Con and don’t have money to burn on ebay.

My plan was to wait for the Walgreens exclusive with the Force Lightning hands, but with how hard it was to acquire Prototype Boba Fett, maybe that is too big a gamble.

I know what you mean by the inability to sit. A real shame. An exclusive SDCC edition including his throne would have been sweet!

If only they could’ve made his inner cloak soft goods as well, enabling him to sit properly. This version of Palps is more iconic seated on his throne. It’s a shame.
A ‘standing’ version should come with the extra hands w/ force lightning. Alas, this one can’t cast lightning, nor can he seat his regal butt down.

That sounds pretty cool MOC, but I would be really surprised if they did that. Most likely the head will be the same.

I do remember a blurb about Walgreens eventually having some kind of other exclusive 6″ Black Series figure, but it was never announced what it was.

I would hope that if Walgreens DOES have an exclusive of The Emperor figure, the head sculpt is retooled to better reflect his face (clenched teeth expression) while using the lightning.

It would be a shame to just have an accessory (that should be included in the regular release) be the only difference between regular & “exclusive” versions.
