This was a favorite Kenner figure of mine as a kid, so I was looking forward to picking up this modern 5POA version. I was really concerned about the fit of the helmet based on Hasbro’s press photos. It looks sooo big in those pictures. It looks considerably better scaled here, though perhaps still a bit oversized. I concede that the paint apps are still being sloppily applied, so I’ll have to search for a “clean(er)” example. Fingers crossed.

i saw this figure in person and the hair is pretty alarming! a sight to see, thats for sure!

And the 2001 POTJ X-Wing Luke cost less, had more articulation and came with a fully-painted and lavishly-decorated helmet for an accessory in that size and designed almost 14 years ago. The 2001 Luke's biggest error was his pair of chipmunk-like buckteeth, but that was corrected with the 2004 OTC repaint and re-release of that figure.

In reply to Epc. The helmet's glaring omission of paint details almost torpedoes the whole figure. Luke himself is far from the worst of the modern 3.75" Luke Skywalker Pilot figures that we've seen (not even close), but the partially-unpainted helmet does this figure no favors and leaving it off makes him look a whole lot better.

The helmet isn’t actually bad when it’s put on, but the missing details is still unacceptable. Also why’s the torso a different shade of orange compared to the arms, and legs?

If they just could add a new, better head to POTJ Luke Pilot, it would be much more sencible – it was a great figure and the helmet had very accurate paint apps, if I remember correctly.

Looks like the shade of orange on the torso doesn’t match the same shade of orange as arms and legs… I wish other than Rebels series, these 5POA figures would go away.

The 2001 POTJ X-wing Luke also only included his helmet. His 2004 OTC re-release added a generic base, but no additional weapons. The POTJ figure was a super slow seller in my area, and I don’t know if that was due to him not having any weapons, or what, so it’s surprising to see that again here.
