Exactly. Every collector knows the feeling of getting their hands on something elusive and rare. In a perfect world every collector would have equal and fair opportunity to buy every SW collectible available; but there’s something fun about having an item that few others have. That sense of uniqueness.

Also, Mara Jade’s hair. That created a lot of buzz, just sayin’…

Here’s a question for ya. What gets all the buzz among the collecting community? The millionth Anakin figure that is cranked out or those elusive and rare items that not everyone can find?

And that’s why I said highly unlikely,lol. They really do want it to be
exclusive,and I’m not a big fan of exclusives. Hallmark always have two
or three at the two big cons,Comic Con and NYCC,and usually at least one
for SWC. Luckily I don’t collect these. I get orny’s,just not SW. I
have some of’em though,my fave ships and such,lol. As for any TFA orny?
Most likely not for sale,but they MIGHT have some on display in the 2016
Sneak Peek that they do at the cons.

Ornaments, before even Kenner Star Wars figures… “collectibles” were
never a commodity that was guaranteed to be readily available to
everyone. There were plenty of rare baseball cards, comic books and Hot Wheels that
the average joe collector would never find or would only come across at
an astronomic price from a dealer. The chase has always been a part of the collecting game. So if you have to search for a desirable item for years at comic shops and swap meets and small local conventions, that is all a part of the hobby. I agree, scalpers are a pain in
the exhaust port, but should companies not be allowed to offer something special for a specific event and its attendees? Perhaps limit these exclusive to one per person or even offer a small batch after the event in their stores or online, but still keep the quantities limited.

I sure hope collectors don’t “stop collecting” just because they can’t own every last piece that was ever made for a particular line. I get a lot of joy out of the lines I collect and I can unequivocally state that I do not own one of everything. Does not getting this year’s Celebration Anaheim ornament make my other Hallmark ornaments less meaningful to me? No.

Yeah, but that’s why I said maybe. Wonder if they’ll have something for TFA.

Highly unlikely,they are exclusive to SWC. They never do that with the Comic Con and NYCC orny’s either. And they ALWAYS do a SW orny for those two cons as well,and two others,usually a repaint of some orny and something new. They’re called con exclusives for a reason,lol!

It works as far as advertising goes; I’ve checked out the Hallmark store at my mall on many occasions and always went straight to the ornaments because I’m aware that they make SW and other pop culture icons. So yeah it always pays to advertise.
I’m glad that many fans, like yourself, can afford these sort of things on the aftermarket. I may not have the resources to do that personally but at least SOME people who aren’t attending Celebration will be able to get these on ebay. Better some than none.

Many of these do end up on eBay. The die-hards, like myself, will purchase these Star Wars ornaments at inflated prices. Hallmark’s original intentions were to create new legions of collectors and shoppers for Hallmark products. I doubt this has happened. Very few people are going to be hooked on Hallmark branded items because they see a cool ornament at a convention or celebration. It is advertising for Hallmark-and I assume they are covering their expenses for creating these masterpieces of pop-art.
