I agree, its good news but the trend of cheap 5POA will continue with the upcoming movies, not to mention that they also canceled the Command line in favor of bringing back micro-machines. And with those god-awful mashers on the horizon, all collectors will have to depend on will be the 6 inch Black series which is a hit and miss because Lea’s, Solos, Kenobi EP 3, Jabba, Speeder Bike and Greedo are warming up some serious peg real-estate. No telling how long that line will last. I don’t understand why Disney doesn’t have a say in this, Toys is what has kept Star Wars relevant, and they experienced greater rewards when they began making articulated figures. If they stopped experimenting with ridiculous, unprofitable lines and focused only on articulated 3 3/4 figures they could maintain a $8 price point. High prices are the result of developing those one and done lines which seem to come every year. Look at the TNMNT figures, the basic line of highly articulated figures which are larger than star wars figures are $8.99 at Toys R US. Makes no sense.

It’s a pretty terrible value for your collecting dollar to pay $9.99 for one 5-POA figure when you can get two 5-POA figures for the same price. This is price gouging on a toy line, pure and simple.

Right now my local TRU sells Rebels/Saga Legends figures for $7.99 and don’t seem to be raising the price any higher (at least not at the moment), but since there are few Saga Legends figures I want and that show up at any given moment it’s not all that much more expensive to get a few at TRU than it would be to buy them at Walmart or Target (where the selection is usually much smaller if not sold out with empty pegs).

So I’m not at all surprised that Toys R Us would jack up the price to meet the supply and demand that the remnants of this line will create. So the new troop transport will join its predecessor in the collectors market. I have yet to see one in my area and I hope I can get my hands on one for I missed out on the original version as a kid.

I love the line and am OK with them being simplistic, but I wouldn’t pay $10 for them. That’s just crazy and defeats the purpose of the line, especially with Mission Series packs costing the same. Those would need to see a price increase too for this to make any sense, and even then, it doesn’t.

Yep, started at $5.99 then started to creep up. My Target is still holding at $5.99, Walmart here has them at $5.88 and regional retailer Fred Meyer has been charging $6.99 for SL since I believe before the Rebels wave launched. I hope $9.99 is just a crazy stunt that TRU is pulling and they will see the error of their ways and drop it back down as opposed to other major retailers following suit.
