In reply to 12O-12K. I hit my local store the day news broke and found they only had 2 out on the pegs. A search of the back revealed 4 more. The clerk was unable to tell me whether they had originally gotten in a full case of 12 or just these 6. Hope that helps

In reply to Brian V. Klein. Man, I was thinking of that poor soul on ebay that paid thousands for this set. The sad thing is that it was likely sold by someone who worked for Go! Calendars and had first dibs on a case of these.

There's no evidence yet that they'll ever come to other discount chains like Five Below, etc. This may be a one and done deal. But then again, they did also appear at that Home and Bargain chain in the UK. So very weird.

In reply to 12O-12K. He said he asked the girl at the counter who went in the back and was surprised to see the case back there. I just called the same store and the woman on the phone said that the only case they had was sold this past weekend. I assume she's referring to the case my friend bought, so it looks like they may be scarce, but it may also be too early to tell.

In reply to Brian V. Klein. Did your friend find that these are plentiful at the store? Or do they seem to only be sending a small amount to each store? It would suck to make a long trip to try and find these and come up empty. But if they seem to be coming in decent quantity, it could make it worth a long trip to find a Go! Calendars store to hit.

Since I am a carded collector, I was hemming and hawing over these 12 figures since word came out of their recent existence. Since I missed when it was available on the Go! Calendars website, I’ve been watching every complete set that has been listed on eBay, almost pulling the trigger once or twice @ around $350 for the full set. Luckily, a friend of mine was at the GO! store closest to me (around 45 minutes away) over the weekend and was able to pick up the case for me. On top of that, he was able to get 30% off, so they came out to just under $14 a figure. Like you mentioned, we don’t currently know how plentiful these figures are, so the prices may come down. But at least I didn’t pay $7000 like some guy did back at the end of last year 🙂

Looks like these Go! Calendars-obtained specimens have all had their UPC’s stickered over with a combo UPC/price sticker that is probably a creation of their own. It puts all the different characters under one number. So if one were hunting for these and found an employee willing to look it up, and the store even had the ability to see which store had what items in stock through their computers, they’ll never be able to tell which figures exactly they have on hand.

I wonder if specimens obtained from another source will be free of these stickers and if we’ll ever get a look at the individual UPC codes. Does calendars.com have anything to do with Go! Calendars? Or are they a totally different chain? (Thrill of the hunt, indeed…)
