So eight of these arrived at my local toys r us in Ottawa...while i already have all the figures in the set minus the new scaled down 6 inch jabba. The paint apps on all the ones i could access were just plain disappointing. I really can't justify 159.99 for just a new jabba, as much as i'd love twin rancors, this will be a clearance item at best for me.

Further more, I can't get over the speed at which we received this in store while we are waves behind on everything else in the big boxes. Canada, forever waiting for a Bossk.

I'm not sure how you can compare his photos to mine and say they look like completely different figures. His paint is better than mind, and my photos are closer up and in higher resolution, but it looks pretty much identical to me.

Agreed, but its a shame that such an accurately proportioned jabba is ruined by hasbro's lack of attention to detail. I do some sculpting every once in a while and jabba was one that I did attempt so I am familiar with the proportions and such. but one of the things that make the character so great is that face and all the fun and gnarled texture, and almost none of that is present here. Its like all the charm has been taken away from jabba.
Overall I would say that these last two jabbas by hasbro are pretty much equals, with neither one completely outshining the other.

I'm the owner of Mighty Jabba's Collection, so that's my figure. It's true that the details are softer on the smaller version compared to the 6" one, and many of the finer details are lost. But I still think it's a good sculpt overall, and the head is more proportionate to the body than the 2010 version. With a decent paint job, this would be very good.

The 6 incher definitely has all that great detail present in the sculpt, so I wonder how and where in the process that information was lost. Like when scaling down a picture you lose some of the pixel information and the quality suffers. Perhaps something similar happened here, and yet the one that Adam Pawlus posted a few weeks ago looked excellent. It looks like a totally different figure from this one. I dont know whats going on...

This is a scaled down version of the 6" Jabba, which is really good. I agree this 3.75" scale down looks inferior to the 2010 mold though.

SUCH a letdown on how soft the sculpt is on this new jabba. Just comparing the eyelids, look how beautifully they are sculpted on the 2010 version. You can make out the ridges and wrinkles. David Silva (the sculptor) did an incredible job of bringing the character to life. The new one looks like it was "sculpted" by a cgi modeler who relies heavily on texture mapping to give his model detail...and well thats pretty much what happened.
In terms of sculpt work, there is absolutely no way anyone can make the argument that the new one is superior. A vaid argument can be made for the accuracy of proportions of the new one, but if you say that it is sculpted better then you are in severe denial.
