He and I both live in the Kansas City Missouri area. We had never met but spent hours chatting about the Star Wars toys and memorabilia that we both love so much. Mark actually lived in a house that was adjacent to the High School I attended in a small town just south of Kansas City called Belton. We had discussed going on toy runs together though we never got the opportunity. I hadn’t chatted with him in several months. He had sent me some photos from his attendance at the Kansas City Planet Comicon back in March and he also attended Celebration in Anaheim this year. I am truly saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. I had thought he was beating the cancer. I hope to attend his services when they are announced.

Here is the email I received from Mark in March which show his enthusiasm for the Star Wars:

well I see the pictures loaded in the reverse order I wanted them to be seen in, oh well
one day I’ll get the hang of these dang machines

so here’s a few things from planet comicon
the Luke in the middle is the new addition to my variant Luke figures
that is indeed a double telescoping lightsaber
it was damaged, actually broken in two pieces, but the tip was undamaged and slides with just the slightest resistance
I’m very happy with it, considering it was basically a steal I thought
then I was so happy to see that his boots were a different color too!

other vintage goodness was another 8D8, Han Endor and Rebel Commando, as well as a Death Squad Commander
the DSC has no rank badge, but I think someone removed it with paint thinner
I also bought the radio control Hail Fire droid which I passed on when it was new, got a couple more moisture vaporators from the old Luke figure from the 30th anniversary line
oh and the IMAX poster for AOTC

well that’s about everything I think!
