In reply to Journey Goff. Even if demand isn't there, the fact that they had a grand total of 18 proves my point. Popular character, popular product (6" scale action figures), weeks after force Friday and months before a new Star Wars movie and they shipped 18? Those will likely be the only ones that store ever sees.

My new slogan is ‘Done with Disney’. Would not collect this line now even if I got one for free, that’s how repulsive it is, what Disney is doing with the Star Wars brand/toys and this is a prime example. All I see every time I look at one of these Elite series figures is Scrooge McDuck, not the Star Wars character inside the box.

The disgust I feel isn’t even for me. I’m a lucky guy, I already have every Star Wars item I could ever need. Anything I buy today is gravy, not necessary. Thing is, I feel bad for the new collectors, the kids who are being targeted by the new Star Wars films. Because Disney is making it very difficult for them to find product. And you can’t generate interest in a new fan/collector if you have nothing to sell to them so yes, I do see this backfiring on Disney big time.

A lottery for an non-limited edition toy manufactured by your own company (which means they can essentially make as many as they want and make it as available as they want because they control it all) doesn’t drum up interest or make things fun the way it was when Lucasfilm was handling the brand or at least during his era of films. If anything, it’s creating ill will and revulsion. Good job, Disney! Walt would be proud.

In reply to Emperor was a jerk. At my store they had 18 of these but only 7 of us showed up. So I don't know if the demand is really there seeing as Darth Maul is a very sought after character. I am in the Milwaukee WI area so it should have been hit hard as I have trouble getting my hands on so many star wars products.

I mentioned this elsewhere but this confirms that the toy shortage of late (both Disney branded and Hasbro branded) is a purposeful tactic by Disney. If they can go through the trouble of creating these tickets, print them ship them out set up a lottery in each and ever store on a specific date, this shows they wanted it to be like this. These are not even “limited edition” products with numbers on them. They are just dolls.

Wouldn’t participate in this kind of thing even if I wanted it. Lousy way for Disney to do business. It probably won’t, but I hope it BACKFIRES On them.
