I thought this was a really cool collectible at first, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I don’t need 2 Vaders in this scale. If I’m only going to have one, then I think I’d prefer to have a more all-purpose Vader. Now if this came with a swap-able solid black helmet I’d be all over it.

Between MAFEX and Figuarts, Hasbro’s stuff just doesn’t appeal to me as much as it used to. Yeah, they’re more expensive, but the quality really is just so far beyond. If hasbro went fully committed to the line, giving us NECA quality work, I’d stick with them without question.

As it stands, I’m just using the BS figures the Japanese companies aren’t likely to make to subsidize my collection. Mostly human characters, but even figuarts is dipping into that pool, albeit slowly.

However you slice it, it’s a great time to collect this scale. So many options.

Having NEVER once seen the first Vader in any store, I thought about getting this, if I can find it, and doing the same thing. Also thought, if the head was a ball joint, and can be popped off, maybe trying to cast it in a black resin, so I have swappable heads.
But, not knowing how the first Vader head works I don’t know if that’s possible.

I don’t know Jayson, look at all three pictures, the last pic looks like the helmet portion is up much higher on the mask than the first two pictures, hopefully it’s just a camera angle issue!!!

His head looks good. Non removable right? I may just get an extra one and paint his helmet gloss black.
