During the OT we got a new TIE with each movie. The bombers didn’t have much screen time in ESB, but they were new, cool and served a purpose. In Jedi, as a kid I always thought the TIE Interceptor was just a newer, better version of the standard TIE. I like this striker design and if it’s more of an atmospheric fighter then it makes sense in the story.

They look a bit like the TIE Predators from the Legacy comic. I like the design.

Excatly in life if things cant be explained by top gun or star wars they are not worth explaining. We have never seen a tank or shore trooper either that doesnt mean they dont exist…. people have got to get over there are more things in the sw universe other tha the ot

I don’t even see a remote comparison. Top Gun was fictional but based off real life. If the producers of that movie had the budget to show other aircraft, they certainly would have. Instead they were limited to F-14 and the F-5 which is an American aircraft that served as the enemy Russian fighter. How does any of that relate to the Star Wars universe which is completely fictional?
