In looking at movie stills, it looks to me like OT Threepio had more dense wiring across his midsection than the TFA costume. And yet the general layout of the wires on each of the above figures looks to be fairly accurate. Strangely conflicting.

Having not seen either of these figures in person, I have to ask, is it possible that one or the other had their torso assembled backwards? Very odd that they would sculpt a new piece.

This… is interesting. I’m sure there’s someone out there that knows the costume well enough that they noticed this detail right away, but I have to say this is a surprise.
