In reply to Barney Dunn. I'm just going to take a guess that licensing fees vary. I would think a licensee would have a multi-year contract and pay by theme not per individual character. Also, the licensing cost may very well be dependent on what your going to do with it, ie. make a slew of bobble heads, make hundreds of thousands of 3-3/4" action figures or slap it on a box of cereal. The higher the profit potential, likely the higher the cost.

How is Funko able to afford the massive licensing for so many properties. Yes they do churn out a lot of POPs and DORBZ. But they must have angel investors or hundreds of millions of dollars in loans to be able to pull this off on this scale. Could one company actually afford the rights to every character and personality that has ever existed? Star Wars, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Star Trek, Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, Back to The Future, World of Warcraft, the NFL, the NBA, and don’t forget ALL of Disney, and DC, and Marvel. How much of their reported $40 million revenue is to pay off licensing. Perhaps all and then some, do they or can they turn a profit?
