I know there have been plenty of girls who have loved Star Wars and its characters over the years, even before it was “acceptable” for girls to admit. It certainly seems that in recent years comic book heroes and pop culture characters have become more mainstream and that “fandom” has spread across many demographics. It also seems as though there has been a concerted effort to draw the female audience in to Star Wars under Disney leadership.

I look at these as Star Wars Barbies or perhaps more accurately Star Wars Disney Princess dolls. Not meant to be realistic representations like the Kenner / Hasbro 12″ line of “dolls”, but more of a doll depicting a cartoon character. This is part of the reason why I believe Chewie looks “off” to many people. The doll is not trying to be a faithful recreation of the Chewbacca we know from the movies, but rather a doll of a cartoon caricature of Chewbacca.

They won’t be stocked in the boys asile like the new Wonder Woman dolls that don’t seem to be moving. Worst-selling toy line now is the Power Rangers Movie.

I thought Hasbro said kids don’t want multiple poa?

If that text is from Hasbro it is clear whoever wrote it has no idea what they are talking about, their pictures clearly show BB-8 and Chewie working with them.

I think it’s a smart move by Disney, though, and I hope these are a huge hit.

And I’ll definitely be watching the shorts! I love the idea of a short, animated anthology series with these characters. Bring on Jyn and Hera!!! The original Clone Wars proved you could do a helluva lot in just a few minutes.
