So now this explains why Leia is the only figure I’m finding at my local Target. I personally think this is a great figure, but I agree that solid cases are NOT the way to go. Especially in this day and age when stores like Target allot space for just eight of these figures at a time. That’s just begging for the line to bottleneck. They’re throwing all of their eggs into one basket, hoping Leia is a huge hit rather than offering a little bit of everything with a mixed case.

I suspect the #wheresrey internet rage (probably propogated by many who do not purchase the products) caused Hasbro to overreact. They were in a tough spot. Either over-produce a figure or take another PR hit for a manufactured controversy.

They are making money, the problem is they are hurting their retail partners – the time may come with the retailers are fed up with it and really cut back the number of SKU’s they carry… until that happens, it’s probably going to be business as usual with Hasbro.
