ShipGirlLover…it really wasn’t that flimsy. The plastic used by Kenner is more sturdy than the cheap plastic for TLJ and FA toys. The wings on the Tie Fighter, for instance, bend easily, while my 1977 Tie Fighter is still straight and sturdy, as is my 1981 Star Destroyer playsett. It was a quality product. Of course, there is a lot you could do now to enlarge it, put more intricate designs into it, but they would have to spend the money. With the BB-88 playset, I found a lot of it to be clunky with overly large plastic fixtures and minimal detailing and too much use of cardboard (like the ridiculous Stormtroopers backdrop) when more plastic detailing would do. For 1981, the Star Destroyer bridge and the original 1978 Death Star are still stand-out products and put some of today’s playlets to shame (big MF not withsanding).

Its not a Rebel battle, but a battle of pirates and smugglers. It was supposed to take place before Han got mixed up in the Rebellion, back when he was just in it for the money. Like everything else, I am sure Disney will retcon and screw it up–just like they have with everything else.

Cardboard is cheapish and flimsy, but a little bit in the right spots would go a long way. Vader’s view screen could come with a couple reversible cardstock inserts. Same goes for the bridges of the star destroyer or death star.

That doesn’t make any sense–but its Disney Star Wars where everything that made sense before is FUBAR all the freaking time!

Precisely. It was Han after the return from Jabba’s destruction–so the Battle of Tanab takes place probably before ANH.

Wookieepedia says it happened after saving Han from Jabba, but before The Battle of Endor. I guess Han and Leia took a 2 week vacation while Lando was impressing rebels and Luke was talking to dying Yoda.

I understand what you mean. Han was frozen and out of the loop. But I like to over estimate how much time went on between ESB and ROTJ. Lots of stuff could have happened, and Han might have already been briefed on some of it, knew what Lando was referring to.

I’ll be honest – I never liked those sets. They seem so – cheap and cheesy.

Granted, that seems to be most Star Wars playsets but I’d like a little meatier Star Destroyer Bridge, especially one with more room and the Vader Chamber not on the middle of the bridge.
