Very on point. I kinda feel this might be the cause… Sure they offer exclusives and “events” but nothing for the collector/repeat buyer to really support them with.

Image if TRU had “ALL” the online exclusives and/or convention exclusives. Only toy store left has EVERYTHING that no other store has.

But then again this store used to be stacked to the ceiling in long isles of product… And not cut in half to sell Baby commodities.

The one closest to me is safe for now. But the problem is I rarely go there anymore. It isn’t even so much because I have to travel to go there. It’s because they almost never have what I am looking for and their prices are consistently 10% higher than normal retail. I’m okay with paying extra if I’m getting what I can’t find most other places. (I order from BBTS regularly. Higher prices, get what I want.) But they never have what I want. So what is my incentive? A lot of retailers have fallen due to online sales, but it isn’t impossible to continue to succeed. TRU just stopped innovating.

Well looks like my 2 closest are safe… For now.

But the single location closing in RI is sad (you’ll have to go out of state now) I remember in 2000 when they remodeled it into a flagship store. It was well worth the trip… Until they shoved Babies R Us into 99% of the locations.

I’m not surprised hearing this about TRU I just wish they would have been more competitive and/or kept better stock. Its not like 90’s anymore when you had trouble deciding which toy chain to vist. With them gone it will be truly THE END.
