Ezra is not caucasian? Really? Since when? Not that it matters… why would a non-caucasian doll sell better or worse than a caucasian doll?
Luke (and Yoda of course) is much more iconic than Ezra. I guess that’s why Hasbro chose him.

To be honest – not sure why they didn’t go with Ezra first. Already anime looking, not Caucasian, and with a cooler outfit.

Exactly.
I actually enjoy and “collect” (when I’ve seen them $1-$5) the Hero Series. I stopped buying 12″ in 2000 the HS line brought me back cuz I really like that the product is a literal copy of the regular release figure blown up (like the old 2up – 4up etc. Prototypes).
The crossover would have been a NO BRAINIER to me if I was paid to work with what’s available (and selling). By transitioning the HS line to splinter into dolls (for females and/or adult collecting) they could have had males buying the dolls to get the females etc.

Really!. If they just would have put effort into a crossover 12″ line from the beginning it would have been awesome. I know the “Hero” series started a while back now, but if they would have done just a few more points of articulation, or at least evolved it over the years, they could have easily created more “doll like” sets to bring in the little girl “doll” demo but had them be interactive with the existing hero series 12″. They could have still rebranded them as “forces of Destiny”, but with the slightly more realistic look, like their real world counter parts. Instead of a capsule collection they would have had a sustained flow. Repackage the 12″ scale R2, 3PO, BB8, with a more doll like Hero series figure and you have a winner.

Instead, we just get deluxe Maul, with all red molded weird made up armor – that wasn’t even that widely available. The 12″ biker scout bike would look amazing with the Forces of Destiny endor Leia!

They are so close to having 2 winner lines, yet still keep missing the mark.

yeah should’ve launched it Kylo and Luke along with the rest of the gals (minus Jyn).
offered a “vehicle” and photographed the dolls w/ the Droids and Troopers from the 12″ 5POA LINE on all advertising. This would have pushed both lines and fill in the gaps each would have for boys/girls. But then again that would be clever…
