Hasbro has released official images for 4 new characters that include BB-8, Porg, First Order Stormtrooper and Supreme Leader Snoke. The Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society (PSWCS) and No Warrior without Help have teamed up to offer their remaining BB-8 charity medallions for St. Patrick’s Day. Their coins originally debuted at Star Wars Celebration 2017 in Orlando, FL and are now exclusively available online. Each medallion is $15 shipped in the US (international shipping available) and all proceeds benefit No Warrior without Help.

No Warrior without Help, based in Central Pennsylvania, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides direct financial support to assist wounded veterans as well as train service dogs.

The limited edition medallion is fully approved by Lucasfilm and has an edition size of 1000 pieces. Each medallion features the likeness of BB-8 on the front, along with the date and the name of the charity, No Warrior without Help. The back features the PSWCS logo.

Medicom Toy has updated today announced Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and C-3PO with BB-8 for their MAFEX line of 1:12 scale figures. These new offerings feature incredible detail, soft goods and switch out accessories. Click on through to check them out.

Jakks Pacific has announced their giant size, Deluxe BB-8 18″ figure. The Deluxe Version features lights and sounds, a swiveling head, and a hidden trap door that reveals a spring loaded arm. A standard version will be available as well. Look for these on display at this year’s Toy Fair.

Gizmodo has posted an article regarding the development of a new wearable piece of tech from Sphero to control their popular BB-8. The wrist-worn device uses simple hand gestures to control the rolling droid rather than relying on an app on a smartphone. It will be available later this year as standalone purchase or bundled with BB-8. Also stated in their article is Sphero’s plan to release a weathered/battle-damaged version of the droid as well.

According to Mark Hamill in an interview with Yahoo, BB-8 aka ” the Ball Droid”, the small droid is not CGI (computer generated imagery)* but “a live prop”. All the more reason to like the little guy/girl. Head on over to read more including his reaction to the teaser and is thought on the sequel in general.

There’s no doubt that there will be a CGI version at some point in the film(s) but having a physical model will surely help “ground” the actors in the scenes.
