Based on various affiliate data sources I check after preorders drop, they show that “voting with your wallet” was put into full effect yesterday. There was a definite reduction in preorders placed. The higher prices coupled with more collectors changing their “must preorder it now” mentality to a wait for sales/deals/clearance is (anecdotally) undeniable.

Discussion has been swirling for a few weeks regarding upcoming Hasbro price increases for 2027 and it appears that they will be going into effect soon for collector lines including Black Series. BS will get another $2 price bump from $27.99 to $29.99 which I have seen reflected in some upcoming preorder announcements. No word yet on how this effects exclusives, deluxe and multipacks but I’d expect comparable increases. As for the Vintage Collection, that remains to be seen. “A New Era” feels a lot like the old era in terms of price stability.

I was drawn to this discrete strip of text on Hasbro Pulse at the top of the window while preordering some of today’s products. It reads:

“Lock-in pre-order pricing today. Current pre-orders end May 9th at 12:01 EDT“

It sounds like after the deadline, new preorders will get a bump in pricing but existing preorders you have will hold at their current pricing.

As we’re all well aware, increased costs for manufacturers worldwide since the pandemic started continue to affect us today and Hasbro is not immune (no pun intended). Retailers/distributors have been notified that price increases will go into effect in the coming months. It may take some time for those prices to hit shelves and online stores but expect to pay a few bucks more per figure (in all scales) before too long.

With this news, how will it impact your collecting?
