Coming May 4 at 8am PT to Disney Store: Starspeeder 1000 (with C-3PO and R2-D2) from Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. This version is a redeco of the Starspeeder 3000 from last year but also switches out REX for C-3PO. Price is not listed but full details came be found at Gizmodo/io9.

WDW News Today is reporting that Star Tours attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park is planning on updating the ride experience giving riders the option of experiences elements of Episode 1-6 or 7-8 and beyond – essentially splitting the characters and locations from the Prequel and Original Trilogies from current Sequel Trilogy (pre- and post-Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm if you will). Instagram user sw_up_wir20 has posted the first look at a couple of D23 exclusive Vinylmation figures scheduled for release this July at the event. The Star Tours themed figures include the Imperial Sky Trooper packed in a 9:10 ratio, with a chase RX-24 packed 1:10. The figure retail for $16.95 and are limited to 2500 pieces (total).

EndorExpress has posted this cool update to the Starspeeder 1000 3.75″scale vehicle/playset available at Star Tours. The vehicle (and packaging) has been updated for 2016 to include a new Tour to Jakku scene inside the vehicle. The vehicle now costs $75.00 – the 2011 version was $54.99

Vinylmation World as posted that today marks the release date of the Limited Edition Vinylmation Eachez Series 8 that features Star Tours Starspeeder pilots Rex (9/10) or Ace (1/10)  . This series is available now at Disney Parks at Disneyland and Disney World and on DisneyStore.com.

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with a series of entries covering a few of the past STAR TOURS releases available at Disney Parks. We continue with the addition of the 2013 Jedi Mickey’s Starfighter.

PROS: Disney dips into the 3-3/4″ scale vehicle pool by repainting the 2005 Jedi Starfighter mold from Revenge of the Sith giving it a striking red, yellow and black deco. The vehicle is virtually the exact same sculpt except for a small peg sculpted to the seat to hold the included Jedi Mickey figure when placed in the cockpit. Mickey himself is based off of a prior release as well with a slight tweak to the color. The surprise in the set is the included R2-MK which utilizes Disney’s (now proprietary) Droid Factory/Build-A-Droid R2-series sculpt.

CONS: A tad gaudy with the Mickey logo emblazoned on the wings and rear. If you are a build-a-droid completist, you’ll need this release for the R2-MK which may be a bit of a hit to the wallet at a MSRP of $34.95.

PROS: As someone that passed on the many of the initial Star Tours figures, it’s nice to be able to get some of the droids from the attraction. The G2 Droid is the star of this set as it’s an all-new figure with a lot of detailing in the sculpt and has a surprising amount of articulation. He sort of has that Johnny 5/Wall-E look about him which I find fun. C-3PO is a repaint of an older TSC figure but the vacmetal treatment is pretty unique. RX too, has a lot of articulation as each “ring” of the body can move independently making for a wide variety of display and posing options. Plus, he can fit into the newer, larger Starspeeder 1000 vehicle, bringing added play value to both pieces.

CONS: $34.95 may seem like a high price for 3 figures, especially since we are getting C-3PO again, albeit in a new, brighter gold. Something about the RX droid feels more Hoover vacuum cleaner than Star Wars universe character, but I admit that’s a fault of my perception and not the overall design.

PROS: Aside from getting another Sky Trooper, the highlight of this set is the cool Seeker Droid that looks like a cross between a “Bayformer” Decepticon and an Imperial Probe Droid. It features several unique parts that are only available in this set. The deco for all 3 figures is well done as the Signal Droid gets a fresh coat of paint which helps to set it apart from the prior release and the Sky Trooper (depending on which variant you get – see toyguide details for info) again looks cool as the gray stripes break up the stark white armor nicely.

CONS: $34.95 may seem like a high price for 3 figures, but the deco refreshes and the new components should help to sway your opinion, especially if you liked the experience of the ride itself. I know I did. (I was the Rebel Spy!)
