The AT-DT Walker itself is on par with Hasbro’s latest vehicle offerings for the basic action figure line. Assembly is very straightforward, only needing to attach each leg and snap on the head. There are no decals.

The “legs” are attached via large ball-sockets and feature ratcheting “knee” joints that hold their position firmly. The “ankles” are ball sockets as well for adjusting to uneven terrain.

Each leg can be move independently and adjusted to convey a walking stride or staged in tandem to give a crouched or elevated stance. The “head” swivels 360º and is locked into the body by a flared peg/post that snaps into position. Unfortunately, there is no vertical (elevation) adjustment for the cannon. The rocket/missile/projectile is fired by a single button on top of the cannon.

The walker has a blast apart feature activated by a button on the back of the “head”. It ejects the cannon from the side and the pilot/driver seat to the rear, sending the figure flailing from position. It’s fun! The walker could benefit from heavier weathering paint apps as, for me, it’s far too clean considering the environment in which we saw them.

The exclusive Mimban Stormtrooper is an all new mold (made in Vietnam) as is the included blaster. The details for this version of the trooper are much better than the standard figure especially the helmet accents and the muddy Mimban effects are more pronounced as well. The figure’s articulation is the standard 5 POA with swivel shoulders, hips and ball socket head (which is NOT swappable with the basic Mimban Stormtrooper) nor is it easily removable.

Surprisingly, the Force Link functionality for both walker and figure worked right out of the box! Yay for toys that work. (As of this writing, there is no entry for this product in the current build of the app.)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Toys”R”Us exclusive 6″ Black Series Rey (Jedi Training) Crait figure.

PROS:  The upgraded deco and soft goods for Rey make this far superior (in my opinion) to the standard Black Series figure release. The inclusion  of diecast weapons are a nice touch as they feel weighty in the hand and add a bit more authenticity to the figure. The included Crait base components are nicely sculpted and painted. It will be interesting to see how this environment and Rey interact in the film.

CONS: I, and I think many, feel that issuing superior versions of the same character in such close proximity to the initial figure release date reinforces the practice of collectors waiting out inital product launches. Despite the improvements to the figure and the inclusion of the environmental base, the price of this exclusive at 75% markup over the basic Black Series figure seems excessive.

The Yakface Toyguide updates today with a special addition. Hasbro and their PR company Litzky Public Relations sent out a special Join the Rebellion Promo Box to news sites and toy blogs which contains a complimentary Jedha Revolt 4-pack as well as a digital download code for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Yakface Toyguide return today for our next entry in the Rogue One 3.75″ basic figure assortment with the Admiral Raddus figure.

PROS:  Overall sculpt and deco is fantastic with crisp details and decent color blending especially on the hands/forearms. Like the TFA Admiral Ackbar that came before it, Raddus features an articulated mouth to bark out orders to the fleet over Scarif. It works well and is reminiscent of a time when toys were toys. He includes a DH-17 blaster pistol which is oddly oversized, and a rocket firing rifle.

CONS: The incorporation of the movable jaw renders the neck immobile so the figure is perpetually stuck looking forward/up. As one of the final figures released in the Rogue One line look, this may prove to be a tough find as we approach spring/summer with the 40th Anniversary and The Last Jedi product on the way.

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue for our next entry in the Rogue One 6″ Black Series assortment with the Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader.

PROS:  The colorful Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader recycles the fantastic Imperial Hovertank Pilot sculpt only this time, we get a new helmet and belt. Obviously an easy update but the recast is another amazing trooper from Rogue One. The deco and weathering on the figure looks faithful to the shots of the trooper we’ve seen. Hasbro also elected to detail the new E-22 blaster rifle with various paint apps which goes a long way to finish off the overall presentation of the figure. Articulation is comparable to the Hovertank Pilot and despite this trooper having the kama/waistcoat, most poses are unencumbered resulting in some great battle stances.

CONS: This trooper has already proven to be in high demand based on third party sales, discussions in various forums and social media interactions, so expect the Scarif/Shoretrooper to be a tough character to spot at retail — at least initially.

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue for our next entry in the Rogue One 3.75″ basic figure assortment with Captain Cassian Andor (Eadu) – the newest member of the “blue coat club”.

PROS:  Another solidly sculpted figure that features a lot of great detail in the entire outfit.  Includes a fun(ctional) zipline accessory and the working holster holds the unique blaster securely. For diorama builders and customizers, this figure may serve as a great base for bolstering rebel troops.

CONS: Despite its appearance in and out of the packaging, the hat/helmet for Cassian is not removable and sadly, the head from figure packed with the U-wing is not a direct swap due to different sized neck posts. A few minor paint flaws – your mileage may vary.

PROS:  Chirrut is another stand out figure in the 3.75″ basic figure assortment as he is extremely well sculpted and the likeness is pretty recognizable as actor Donnie Yen. Again, Hasbro captured many of the varied fabrics through subtle use of texture and color variation that really makes the outfit pop – even in this scale.

CONS: It looks like it would have be very easy to include a sixth point of articulation for Chirrut’s right wrist/forearm but instead, Hasbro elected to glue the hand in place. Freeing this joint would have made for a more versatile figure, able to hold his staff in additional battle stances. Sadly, Chirrut does not include a screen accurate version of his cool bow rifle. Not currently available at retail in the US, but expect soon.

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue for our next entry in the Rogue One 3.75″ basic figure assortment with the reprogrammed Imperial security droid, K-2SO.

PROS:  K-2SO may be the best of the Rogue One released thus far in the line up as Hasbro managed to capture the stature, details and scale for this figure almost perfectly. From its lanky frame, to its new, yet familiar Imperial design aesthetic, K-2SO looks pure “Star Wars” which is not only a testament to the character’s concept, but to Hasbro in translating that into plastic. Sure, it’s only 6 POA (all ball-joints), but I think you’d be hard-pressed in finding anything else to take issue.

CONS: Despite the figure’s fantastic sculpt and deco, it is lacking in accessories as you only receive a retractable zipline attachment where a piece of in-film weaponry or piece of tech may have better served this figure.
