We’ve been hearing rumblings that Wal-mart turned down the Ammo Wagon with Falupasett and now we have been able to confirm it. This is why the Ammo Wagon has been showing up at many online stores.<\/span><\/p>\n

Update:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0To clear up any confusion, the Ammo Wagon has NOT been cancelled – it just won’t be a Wal*Mart exclusive. It will continue to show up, because now that it’s no an exclusive, I’d suppose anyone could order them. If we get any more info, we’ll let you know.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I thought I’d mail you folks at Yakface about a packaging change I noticed on some Gungan Scout Subs I received recently thru mail order. On both versions (.0000 & .0100) there are pictures on the top and bottom of the box showcasing the snapping claw play feature. On the .0000 box, to demonstrate graphically the claws snapping open there are white zigzagging lines on either side of the claws. And on the .0100 version instead of the lines there is a time lapse picture of the claws opening with 3-4 semi-transparent pictures of the claws themselves from shut to open. Yet another lame packaging variation again, however I think that the .0100 does look slightly better – though why this gets changed and not the seemingly countless commtech line errors I don’t know.”<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

I have been on the phone to Target and got the following info:<\/span><\/p>\n

The rep has told me that there is NO definite amount of the product (the 40,000 number was incorrect) at this time. Do not expect to see the item in the store until mid to late August. Which they consider fall. Even though we know August is Summer, that is when the fall line for Target starts shipping. The rep was very helpful and she will be calling me back with more definite information as she gets it. She looked up my last call and found out that the last person I spoke with did in fact tell me incorrect information that they shipped from the warehouse. Fact is, the warehouse does not even have them yet. Sorry for the mis-information, we will let you know more when she calls me back. She told me that she is working to get us the most current and official information so that we can post it on the web. Hopes this helps the people who’ve been writing with questions. So far, NO stores have received this item.<\/span><\/p>\n

New figures sighted in the UK (tri-logo cards) are: Captain Panaka, Naboo Royal Security, Naboo Royal Guard and Darth Sidious (Holograph). All ship in one C2 case. These are the first new figures to hit since the Tatooine Maul lot, which arrived in the UK only a few months after they hit US shores, so we’ve had quite a wait for new figures! They’re priced at \u00a36.74, and still have only been found at TRU. They’re still running the 2 for 1 deal on figures, but it ends Tuesday. Thanks to Andy for talking to me today. I was able to get the entire low down on the Shmi Figure. Here is the whole story as I was told, so that this can be put to rest. The Petition was a good thing as it made this whole story come to life and that the fans out cry was heard by the people that mattered. Shmi is not cancelled, however there are NO definate plans to make her at this time. She has been put on hold indefinately. She will definately not be made this year (2000). The soonest she could be made would be sometime in 2001. At this time noone has been selected to have her as an exclusive either. I have talked with Dan Madsen from the Fan Club and they have been in negotiations to get her made. Nothing more can be said. At this point, they have the prototype (the one that we have all seen) and that is it. Hopefully the Fan Club can get something worked out with Hasbro and this very important figure can be made. Please check back as I plan on talking with Andy more about this, but also remember things can change overnight. On a side note I can say that I have been assured that there are many more R2 w\/holo leias on the way!!!! Do not pay sclalpers prices. Please do not spend your hard earned money for one on EBAY, you are only keeping scalpers alive and breathing by doing this. I say don’t buy the toys from them. Let them choke on all the toys they have. YOU WILL SEE this figure on the shelves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following yesterday evening’s news that the Commtech chips have indeed been discontinued, it is pretty clear now that the planned oval Commtech chips and the\u00a0Commtech Reader 4.0<\/a>\u00a0have indeed been cancelled and won’t be produced. But, it seems that the new generation of Commtech that had been planned, and indeed some chips and readers were made, had a few new gadgets.\u00a0Robert Musco<\/a>has unearthed this\u00a0Commtech Memory Chip<\/a>\u00a0which seems to have been planned to go with the new set. Hit that link for a photo of the memory chip, and for a little description of what it seems to have been planned for. Update:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Lococaca points out that this is a clear version of the red chip on the right hand side of the new reader. The red chip on the reader appears to be what stores the generic Commtech reader sounds, but the fact that it’s removable suggests to me that you would be able to store any Commtech sound you wish on these memory chips, then plug them into the reader. I’m trying to get more info on this, so I’ll update with the full story if I can.<\/span><\/p>\n

Got an update on the differences between the 3 Marmit Sandtroopers, other than the shoulder pad colors. It seems that the white pad Sandtrooper will have different helmet detail than on the orange pad version. The black pad figure will have a new waist bag and a different blaster. A reminder that each one will be released separately, so don’t go out and buy 3 of these in hope you’ll get all three versions – it’s just the orange one out just now.<\/span><\/p>\n

I received an e-mail from Interlace 4D today about a new product heading our way soon:
\nIf you head over to their\u00a0website<\/a>, and go to the Deep 3Ds section (inside Star Wars), you’ll see a preview pic of a 3D Anakin’s Podracer card. Although the picture on the site isn’t 3D, the actual item promises to have so much depth you’ll be able to pass your hand through parts of the image. This item is going to be big – 12″ x 14″ – and will be a limited edition of between 5– and 750. Which means, it’s going to be scarce!

Minch00 found the\u00a012″ electronic TC-14<\/a>\u00a0at a local KB Toyworks in Orlando, FL. He says 5 phrases and the eyes light up. This is only a second sighting, but these will be showing up in greater numbers at KB stores very soon. Keep an eye open for the new wave of 12″ figures also – Mace Windu, Battle Droid Commander and Qui-Gon with poncho are all hitting stores.<\/span><\/p>\n

Update:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0I’ve had about 10 more reports of TC-14 being found all over the country, so this one’s obviously hitting in numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dax Riley reports with the full story on the Commtech sticker variation we posted yesterday:<\/span><\/p>\n

“The sticker appears on all Australian released Commtech figures because Hasbro does not own the brand name Commtech in Australia. I believe there are similar changes to the cards released in Europe and countries where Hasbro also doesn’t hold the licensing agreement or name rights to ‘Commtech’.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, I personally live here in Britain, and all the figures (apart from Collection 3 figures) hit stores on tri-logo cards. However, some dealer stores who import from places like Germany do receive US carded figures with stickers on the back, although the stickers are not the same as these ones.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seems like the second wave of Hasbro’s light up Holograph figure series will go ahead. Three new figures have been rumored, some were first mentioned a long time ago. They were Sio Bibble, Queen Amidala and Obi-Wan Kenobi.\u00a0Click here<\/a>\u00a0to see a prototype pic of the Queen Amidala (Holograph) figure. it’s non-articulated, so it’s definitely from the light-up subset and not a carded figure. Contrary to earlier news, there are not to be four versions of the Marmit Sandtrooper, but 3. The three will be slightly modified – there is an orange, black or white. There will also be other differences, I’ll post what they are when I find out. The second two Sandtroopers are due out in Fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Update:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Going by\u00a0this photo over<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Rebelscum<\/a>, David Downey sent in his idea of what the differences between the 3 ‘troopers are. Says David: “Either the black or white pauldron trooper is carrying a unique weapon that was only used by stormtroopers on Tatooine. It is a rife that looks like a spear gun. A trigger & grip with a long barrel and not much else.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Something that is definitely to be avoided is buying a Skiff from a scalper at an inflated price. BigEOz from\u00a0JediParadise<\/a>\u00a0sent in this:<\/span><\/p>\n

“I recently attended the Sci-Fi Expo here in Austin, TX and came across many interesting things. Of them had to be this one private vendor who was selling the Skiff w\/ Luke… and a lot of them!!!! There were pallets full of Skiffs, AT-ATs, Tanks..etc. The interesting thing is these were going for nearly $40 a pop. Wasn’t the Skiff a Target exclusive that you could pick up for $15??? As you can see in\u00a0this picture<\/a>\u00a0they didn’t sell many at that price. Is this wise business making or downright scalping??? You be the judge.”<\/span><\/p>\n

I think that picture tells a big story. So many of us went out on fruitless trips to Target for this thing, and if you live near this guy, you obviously didn’t stand a chance. That is more than an entire store’s stock he has there. Remember – scalping has and always will SUCK!<\/span><\/p>\n

KB seem to have increased prices on their “sale” items again. Alex Sleder in Indiana noted that the Millenium Falcon is up to $39.99 and the 12″ figures up to $12.99. At $40, the Falcon is almost back to its original RRP. Even at $3.99, the figures aren’t\u00a0that<\/i>\u00a0great a deal when you consider that they originally retailed for just $2 more. While there has yet to be an official announcement from Lucasfilm through starwars.com, sites all over the Internet are reporting that\u00a0Hayden Christensen<\/span>\u00a0has been picked by George Lucas to play Anakin Skywalker in Episode Two of the prequel trilogy. Fernando Prado pointed out\u00a0this Yahoo! news article<\/a>which supports this information.

It appears TRU is now preparing for the new POTF2\/Ep I combo line. This info is thanks to DarthCloud an actual TRU manager.<\/p>\n

“DEAR GOD it was a terrible day at TRU. It seems as though the Target virus has swept into the TRU system. Today Hasbro came into our store and wiped out almost every figure except for darth maul. We then had to reset the entire star wars section. The new section only includes 2′ of space for Episode one figures. With only 2 feet of space there are only 4 peg hooks of figures going down. This is a drastic change from the previous 16 feet. Also we were told we will not be getting Episode one figures until further notice. So perhaps the rumor of discontinuing the old wave is true and the new cards\/assortments are due out soon.”<\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/b>The removal of figures has also happened at other TRU’s all over the country. However, most were not told they would not be getting any Ep I items in. Thanks to everyone who wrote in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott, a Target employee, sent in this info:<\/span><\/p>\n

“As was reported before around the web, the Skiff was revised off of the planogram today. The sad thing is that ALL Star Wars toys were taken off. There are now no SW toys at all in the Target toy departments, or at least won’t be when the stores that are behind get the new planogram (aisle layout) set. This is just like what was reported about Wal-Mart where they’re doing the same thing. Maybe getting rid of the stuff for the new packaging to roll in perhaps? Seems a bit soon…<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, a strange note. The computer shows that there are 10,103 Skiffs ON ORDER to the warehouse. So we may be seeing more showing up. But how the heck are they going to get to the floor when there is no spot on the shelf for them??? Note, with the lack of SW product on the new layout, there is also no spot for the Y-Wing. This really makes me think that there will be another revision soon and the Y-Wing and Skiff will be added back on along with new product.”<\/span><\/p>\n

So – it seems that Target are no longer carrying any Star Wars toys, at least for the time being. But there is always a chance that they could bring them back. The big question is, if they don’t, what will happen with their exclusive Y-Wing and 12″ Kaadu? I think it’s safe to say that if these two don’t show up at Target, we’ll see them elsewhere as exclusives, or even as a general release. Same with the Skiff.<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked, a store employee said that they recieved a notice from Hasbro, and all their toys had been recalled. The store had packed up all of it and sent it back. (They did leave plush toys, Tiger toys, and other non “toy” toys. They did leave the holo figures) All POTFII\/E1 toys were recalled, and the employee wasn’t sure if they’d get new figures to replace them, just that they were gone for now.<\/i>“<\/span><\/p>\n

So what does this mean? Well Jason sent us this thought.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Do you think that since POWER OF THE FORCE and EPISODE ONE figures are coming up as discontinued because of the Package change? Both lines are one now, so maybe thats why they are considered discontinued.<\/i>“<\/span><\/p>\n

This totally makes sense to me. Perhaps we all have jumped the gun in wanting to hang TARGET? Maybe not \ud83d\ude42 But this does sound like a very good reason for massive send backs that we have been receiving from all parts of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n
