Wal-Mart Supercenter in Springfield, Mo., on Kansas Expressway has the newer Obi-Wan pilots, and Dookus as well as the Tyranus electronic lightsabers with a few Mace’s stuffed on the shelf. Plus a Yoda that talks. If you need 12″ army builders, thi is the place for you. They had a good amount of the 12″ Zam, Dooku, Super Battledroid, and Clone Troopers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Figures starting at 49 cents (Jar-Jar), most of them a dollar, deluxes at $4.99, Hardware wars DVD $2.99, The bobble heads were $9.99 each and the big surprise, the army builder stormtrooper four pack just $6.99. Plus a bunch of other great deals. I am figuring any Wizards of the Coast stores should have this stuff, so it is worth checking out if you have one in your area. At the request of a number of Yak Readers, we contacted Darth Jeff for information on how he built the gunship pods.<\/p>\n

Here’s his instructions:<\/p>\n

The balls (for the pods) came from hobby lobby. The troopers are removable, howeverthe will need to be modified to fit in the pods. You will have to customize your clone figures. In order to fit th cntrols into their hands, shorten the legs and reposition the feet. They are not much good out of the cockpit so it really doesnt matter that they are removable. The metal strips outside of the ball are plastic strips cut and glued into place, the gun and handles came from the goofy one that Hasbro made.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starwars.com has finally gone live with the Star Wars credit card. The card is offered by MBNA and has a relatively high rate (for a Platinum Card) of 12.99%. You can choose from Yoda or Darth Vader cards depending on which side of the Force you identify with. The “rewards” program seems to be a work in progress. There might be some benefits but it seems they took a basic rewards package and tried to retrofit it to give it an amount of \u201cStar Wars flavor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yoda image is new and fresh, not having been plastered on hundreds of other licensed products until now, but the Vader pic is tired and has been on everything from t-shirts to guitars.<\/p>\n

Color me unimpressed so far. I\u2019d get more use from Star Wars rewards than I do from airline miles, but if you already hold a card with MBNA at a better rate (like I do) they will not issue you the Star Wars card at the better rate.<\/p>\n

TRU: Price $9.99. A lot of people scored here, DVD– fullscreen and widescreen also VHS in good quanities in most places. Some areas were sold out by noon, others still have copies in all formats tonight.<\/p>\n

Wal-Mart: Prices varies from $9.97 (managers who were matching TRU’s ad on their own), up to $15 or $17 bux. Quanities seem good nationwide.<\/p>\n

Best Buy: Prices vary from $9.99 and a free calender with price matches, $9.99 without the free calendar on price matches, up to their regular price with a free calendar.<\/p>\n

Seems as though, Amazon is receiving the same boxed items that the stores are. Hasbro needs to do a better job packaging these figures. The boxes I saw at the store had them just stacked on top of each other in the case. Most in the case were crushed.<\/span><\/p>\n

I just got my Holiday Edition figures. I usually don’t buy things like this off of Ebay, but my wife saw these and said that we had to have them. Then I heard that they wouldn’t be out until after the holidays maybe, so I went ahead.<\/p>\n

Minimum articulation as you can expect. The R2 has a 2000 date so I am assuming that it is the E1 figure with antlers added. I’m not 100% sure without checking and I can’t do that right now. C3PO however has a 2002 date. The head and legs are the classic gold, very bright and shiny but the hands are not. They are a different shade, not nearly as shiny. The “would be chest” that is showing around the collar area is yet a 3rd different gold variation. UGGHH! None of the accessories on either figure are removable.<\/p>\n

The stand is excellent. Instead of a sticker for the rug and floor it is actually textured plastic. Not too bad. It comes with the cardboard background, a greetings card with a copy of the original artwork, and a unique Jedi master point UPC with a red and green background. Also the lightsaber emblem is a candy cane<\/p>\n

One other thing, the back states that this is “Our gift to you..” Is this a giveaway that I missed or are we supposed to pay for our presents? Just joking about that one.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“A review for IMAX:
\nWhile the Imax experience was simply incredible, I was quite disappointed with the “editing” of the movie. Several scenes were cut out, which suprised me. Among them were the initial introduction of Anakin & Padame, the entire library scene, the introduction of Owen & Brue Lars, among others. I don;t know if this was to increase the action vs drama in the movie, but I was expecting to see the whole movie. One VERY strong point, you can really appreciate the CG effects when they are larger than life and the lightsaber battles made the entire experience worth it.”<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Several Yak Readers have written in to point out thatIMAX projectors have a limitation on the amount of film they can show. Somewhere around the 2 hour mark is their maximum film length.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I have always been happy with Amazon. This time they may have just screwed up, but it really irks me. I ordered the Arena with the Free R2. The Arena shipped first, and I thought they were out of R2s. Then I got an email stating the R2 was now shipping, but at a cost of 9.99 PLUS shipping! It was as if I ordered them separately. Since I had found the Arena at my local TRU, and with it a mint R2, I am sending back my unopened boxes.<\/p>\n

Not that big of a deal, since I had a legitimate complaint they could have refunded the money, but it is kind of annoying. They billed me something like $65 with shipping for stuff that cost me about $46 (with tax) at a real TRU.<\/p>\n

Since I never opened the R2 from Amazon, I have no idea what condition it was in.”<\/p>\n

“I am not sure what is going on here but tonight. I had called the FAO shwartz 767 fifth avenue New york to check on the status of my order, (where I first placed my order back in August) and the computer generated answering machine keeps telling me the store is closed but it’s open 9:00 am-9:00 pm. I then called customer service at 1-800-876-7867 from the site and she told me she could not find my order. [She could] only if I placed it through the catalog. I then told her I placed it through the store when they first offered the exclusive, but she said she had no way of finding it through the store where I had placed the order and I had to call the store number
\n1-212-644-9400. It’s not answering for days now without answering customer service. Their maybe alot of us who placed these orders
\nfrom this store who will probably not get them but then again who knows.But the woman wanted me to place another order but I don’t need two of these. It’s better to check these now then not to get them at all. I only started to check it after post cards were sent out to people had ordered. Something is very fishy! “Hey guys, I just got off the phone with my FAO and what I was told is that none of the stores know how many shuttles they are getting and that none have recieved any yet. There isn’t multiple ship datesbut that when they arrived they would start at the top of the list and work there way down until everyone was served. I was also told that the list we were put on in the store was faxed up to the corporate offices prior to making the orders…which in my mind would mean that the true number of shuttles wasn’t decided till after most pre-orders were put in prior to production. basically they wanted me to leave them alone and they would call me when my time came up, and that when we receive our call we have 24hrs to return the call reserving our shuttle. Another thing I found out was that regardless of whether the store offered you more than one shuttle you could only reserve one….I asked for two and when I went back a week or so later I was informed of the change of “Limit One Per A Person.’ Hope this helps anyone out there.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Surprisingly no darth mauls any where, nor were there any ephant mons or destroyer droids! There were also about 5 12″ scale taun taun’s with luke, and about 10 each of the geonosian battle arena and republic gunships. I also was able to get the silver anniversary R2-D2 with my $20 or more purchase. They had about 5-6 cases of the R2’s behind the consumer service desk! Keep up the good work!”<\/span><\/p>\n

“I went into TRU today to verify with my flyer if the R2 was indeed going to be available. To my surprise, I was told that an e-mail was sent out to honor people who have the preview book that I could get any of the deals including R2 today. Sure enough, they gave me one to take to the checkout. I got my ad on Tuesday, and I guess so did many others who tried to use the coupons early and TRU has given in because of this.”<\/p>\n

\nJust wanted to let you know that I picked up the Silver anniversary R2 at the Toys R Us in Coral Springs, Florida today. I was told by an employee that I needed to buy $100.00 worth of Star Wars items to receive it. Astonished, I asked for an assistant manager who stated it was $19.99. The only problem here was that he went on and said that I needed a coupon from the big book or whatever it’s called. I said I didn’t think that was true so he called the store manager. The manager said the $19.99 was correct and that no coupon was needed. I asked if I could get one today and she said yes. The only problem was I didn’t know what to get. I had everything there that was in stock. So I asked! I said I have a receipt from 10\/24\/2002 where I bought Star Wars figures from your store and I have the receipt in the car does that count? She replied, “that was fine”! She then asked a guy from the back to bring a case of the R2’s to the front. The box had 32 of them in there and she said each store received 2 of them. She opened the box and they were packed one on top of the other. I got one from the top that was “MINTY FRESH” and it made my day! Some were damaged to a degree but not too bad. My advice, get there early and ask. You never know! I did ask what would happen if you bought something to get the R2 and returned it? She said technically you couldn’t do that BUT they had to accept all returns. You get the picture. Hope this helps!”<\/p>\n
