OK, this is WAAAAAY off topic (I won’t do this often, I promise), but when I saw this, I had to share it with you guys.<\/p>\n

Sideshow is producing this exact replica of the stop-motion armature used in the making of the original 1933 KING KONG. Prop collecting guru Bob Burns loaned Sideshow the actual armature so they could re-create it in every detail, and it’s fully poseable as well.<\/p>\n

If you’re a die-hard movie geek like me, then this is definitely one drool-worthy piece. Click the pic above to see more pics and a 360-degree Quicktime movie of it.<\/p>\n

As an interesting side note, Burns took the original armature to filmmaker Peter Jackson where his WETA Workshop team, animated it via stop-motion for the first time in 72 years. You can pretty much count on this footage ending up on the DVD for Jackson’s upcoming Kong remake, but if you haven’t caught it yet, check it out\u00a0here<\/a>. Too cool for words!<\/p>\n
