\nThe Toyguide updates today with the addition of the Saga LegendsClone Commander<\/a>. As we learned from our recent QnA with Hasbro, this version is actually a factory produced error as it includes the Sandtrooper rifle from the Evolution set rather than the correct Clone Trooper rifle. Hasbro states that there will be a running charge to correct this so be on the look out for both styles if you are so inclined. As for the figure, it is also a repack from the ROTS Evolutions Set (version 2). The gray “Coruscant” motif happens to be my favorite of all the E3 decos as it isn’t quite as flashy as the other battalion styles and I think it more closely bridges the gap between the PT and OT troopers. But enough with the chit-chat.<\/p>\n

The 5 bases also interlock forming one arched band platform. \nThe Toyguide updates press on with the addition of the SDCC and HasbroToyShop Exclusive\u00a0Obi-Wan & Yoda<\/a>\u00a0McQuarrie Concept Figure Two-Pack. It’s hard to deny that figures like these are the reason why the McQuarrie subset line is so successful. The Obi-Wan figure really reflects the Japanese\/Samauri culture which upon the Jedi themselves were based and about the only complaint I have about this figure is the non-articulated knees. The Yoda figure’s concept design is fairly close to the “classic” Yoda we remember from the film only he does have a slight garden gnome or troll aura about him. This set was initially only available to attendees of Comic-Con ’07, but like many convention “exclusives” before them, they made their way online through HasbroToyShop (currently out of stock).<\/p>\n

If you’re not aware, Albertsons has entered into an agreement with TRU in the last few years to provide their toy stock. While the stock on the toy aisle at grocery is frequnently less than fresh, that does not seem to be the case right now. If you’re looking for some of the 30th Anniversary basic figures or the 30th Anniversary Legecy collection, it may be worth you while. Legacy of the Force Inferno Review<\/b><\/span>

Last week, the latest chapter of Del Rey’s Legacy of the Force series hit the racks. Given it’s recent release, I’ll try to stay as spoiler free while providing insights into Inferno’s flavor as possible, however this review does contain spoilers if you haven’t read previous Legacy of the Force Novels.<\/p>\n

Troy Denning’s Inferno continues the strong writing and plot lines we’ve seen throughout the Legacy of the Force Series, and once again his writing style meshes so well with Aaron Allston and Kathy Traviss’ styles, that the transition from one author’s work to another is practically seamless. Inferno opens on the Galactic Alliance’s State Funeral for Mara Jade Skywalker. While most of the main characters from the Legacy series appear, Inferno focuses on Jason, (AKA Darth Cadeus), Ben Skywalker, and Luke Skywalker. Rest ssurred Han, Leia, Jaina, Zekk, Jagged Fel, and Alemam not to mention Tenel Ka all get their share of ink as well. However the focus of Inferno is really on Jason’s evolution into, and acceptance of his role as a Sith Lord. Galactic politics have begun to take a back seat to the Cadeus’ plotting and attempts to get the galaxy firmly in his grasp, so much so that his co-rules of the Alliance appears in only one section of the novel, for a handfull of pages.<\/p>\n

While we see old friends again, including R2– with specific mention of an upgrade to his systems, Denning also pulls threads which have been left hanging throughout the Expanded Universe. Many questions are answered, some with still more questions about how the dark side took control of the hive during the galaxy far far away’s last crisis before Legacy. Lingering affects from the galaxy’s exposure to the Yuzzan Vong also take the plots in directions which are a refershing departure from the classic Star Wars Universe. One of those casts doubt over much of what many of us have come to believe to be set in stone about the way of the Sith and its place in the universe from before Palpatine rose to the throne up through the time of Legacy.<\/p>\n

It has been a very big week for Star Wars. First, during the last weekend in August there was the Toronto Fan Expo with Jake Lloyd, Daniel Logan, and Temura Morrison, plus others, all attending. Star Wars Action News staff member Jason was there and brings us his first-hand report of his first experience going north of the border. Then during Labor Day weekend, Marjorie and Arnie went south to Georgia for the much hyped DragonCon, with some Star Wars guests, authors, and body paint. This was their first trip to DragonCon, and if you were thinking of going they let you know what to expect.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Hasbro’s Wave 4 is starting to hit shelves. Star Wars Action News listeners call in to let you know where to shop to find the latest figures on the pegs. Marjorie discusses Lego clearances, Scott discusses where to go if you’re needing your Naboo soldier fix, and the latest surprise Star Wars item to be announced from Master Replicas.<\/p>\n

Walt Disney Studios to broadcast “Clone Wars” Series?<\/b><\/span>

\nDarkHorizons.com\u00a0<\/a>reports that Walt Disney Studios is heavily campaigning to get broadcast rights for George Lucas\u2019 much anticipated CG-animated series “Clone Wars” reports Animation Magazine.<\/p>\n

The studio is competing with Fox and HBO who are also rumored to be interested in picking up broadcast rights. Each episode will be 22-minutes long and will follow the general tone of the original 1977 “Star Wars” with an action focus and lighter tone.<\/p>\n

Lucas has previously said that he wants to produce at least 100 episodes of the show which is expected to be ready for broadcast by the fall of 2008. The live-action series in the works won’t begin airing until Fall 2009 at the earliest.<\/span><\/p>\n
