Museum Replicas Joins With Lucas Licensing<\/b><\/span>

Museum Replicas Ltd. announced February 22 an agreement with Lucasfilm to create licensed Star Wars products. The new line will include full-sized, wearable clothing and armor replicas from a wide range of iconic Star Wars characters, scheduled for debut at the 2008 Comic-Con International this July.<\/p>\n

Sideshow plans to support Museum Replicas with distribution, and will be offering the Star Wars costume and replica line for pre-order once details have been released. \u201cWe\u2019ve been long-time fans of Museum Replicas product,\u201d says Sideshow President and CEO Greg Anzalone. \u201cThis new category will allow for expanded opportunities in Star Wars collecting, and Sideshow will be proud to offer these costume replicas to passionate, discerning fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some collaboration in life-size character representations may even be on the horizon with the creative influence of the Sideshow Collectibles Design and Development Team. Sideshow Creative Director Tom Gilliland was pleased to hear of this new opportunity, stating, \u201cIt was nice to read the good news of the Museum Replicas license, and I look forward to working with them to bring not only their core product of outstanding full-scale costume replicas to collectors, but also the items that result from the combination of our talents in the potential life-size character arena. Well now you will have even more to love about them… they have introduced both Star Wars and Indiana Jones lines this year..<\/p>\n

Here is a review of what we are going to see.. (sorry, absolutely no images allowed)<\/p>\n

First up 18″ Posable Talking Figures
\nThese will be on a comparison level of Sideshow 1\/4 scale Premium Format Statues, with their 12″ level of articulation, with the bonus added in sound chips.<\/p>\n

Here are the highlights:<\/p>\n

– Full cloth outfits, from the same maker of Hasbro’s 12″ line. Good quality.
\n– Electronic Voice chips, with Try Me packaging, voice chip activated in the chest area.
\n– 3 figures to start: Han Solo (Hoth – he has a brown color coat), Darth Maul, and Ben Kenobi.
\n– Window packaging<\/p>\n

Now get this… hold onto your seats.. the price will be $75.00 retail for each.<\/p>\n

However, there may also be more secrets in store for these, as they were show with nice accessories.. Han had his Binocs, backpack, Maul with the droid, and other items. These may or may not ship with all the items shown, as there may be different price points as well, lower price point would mean less items.. This was not for sure, but a possibility. One fact for sure is that there will be chase variants of these, a complete different outfit then the normal items. An example, but not the real thing, Han Hoth could have a variant in a case of “X” amount, it would have 1 Han Bespin.<\/p>\n

As they are also doing some Indiana Jones, as was explained to us, look for these to hit in August, two of them listed above, then Indiana in Sept, then another two Star Wars, then another Indiana, and so on.<\/p>\n

In talking with Diamond, we learned what we already knew, so to speak, there are not too many main characters for Indiana, and a lot for Star Wars, so they will rotate them in the 2:1 ratio, most likely.<\/p>\n

They may also have a Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight in the works.<\/p>\n

Next item..<\/p>\n

– C-3PO & R2-D2 (think the old style that play the music)

I was looking for those hard to find comic 2-packs, you know the Wal-Mart exclusives. I’ve been chasing them for over 3 weeks now, while at my local Wal-mart, Rand rd and central, Mt. Prospect, IL, I came across wave 1 of 2008, with medical droid 2-1B, Po Nudo, Commander Gree, Kashyyk Scout trooper with lifting up visor, the panning droid mustafar, and of course Obi and Darth Vader\/Anakin. The only one I did not see was the Tri-Droid, but they put these figures two aisles away way from the the action figure aisle and where the peg warmers are still and they were on an endcap, too. Which I almost missed, but luckily, I do a thorough job of looking every where, behind stuff, between boxes, I’ve scored quite a bit of “toys” that people “hide”. Anyway they are out there, so good hunting and by the way they also had the last several figures of 2007 without coins, just with stands. And still no comic packs anywhere and I’ve got 3 Wal-marts fairly close to me, its driving me nuts!!<\/span><\/p>\n

As we reported earlier in the week, some of the 2008 Wave One figures are noticeably smaller than their past counterparts… in particular, the 2-1B medical droid.<\/p>\n

However, according to the\u00a0Star Wars Databank<\/a>, 2-1B droids are only 1.5 meters tall, which puts them at slightly under five feet in height.<\/p>\n

Also, as illustrated by the photo above, the 2008 version of this droid seems as though Hasbro more accurately sculpted this figure than first thought. Ultimately though, consumers will make the final decision as to whether or not to doom this figure to the shameful honors of pegwarming status.<\/p>\n

We have previously announced that there would be three waves of our 30th Anniversary basic figures in Spring. That has now been changed – there will be only two. The last wave (on shelf approx. early March) will be The Force Unleashed wave. Due to some last minute delays, the previous third wave has been picked up and moved to the new Fall basic figure line. Nothing will be bumped from the Fall line….these will just be added in.<\/p>\n

Fans should not worry as all figures will be coming to the shelf, including General Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Saesee Tiin, Clone Scuba trooper, and more. More details on this assortment will be released at Toy Fair. Similarly, due to production delays, we are pushing back the debut of the next wave of comic packs (including Anakin\/Durge and Asaaj\/Tol Skorr) until fall as well, but all announced packs *will* be coming out.<\/i>
