Heroes Landing, along with Star Wars Action News have joined forces to host a Star Wars Trivia Night to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Central Florida. The event will be held on August 11, 2010 at 7:00 pm. This event will be emceed by Marjorie Carvalho and Arnie Carvalho, hosts of Star Wars Action News, a popular Star Wars podcast.
The event will be held at Heroes Landing, located at 12348 Roper Boulevard, Clermont, FL. All questions will be Star Wars themed with topics ranging from the six Star Wars movies to the hit Cartoon Network show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Trivia will be team-based with the winning team receiving 50% of the entry fees with the rest, as well as any other money raised, donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Central Florida. In addition to the team cash prize, there will also be chances for individuals to win door prizes donated by Star Wars Action News, Sideshow Collectibles, Dark Horse comics, and a gift certificate to Heroes Landing.
This event will take place the evening before the official Star Wars Celebration begins in Orlando. “We are very excited that Heroes Landing asked us to help out with the trivia night,” said Arnie Carvalho of Star Wars Action News. “This is a perfect kick off to the biggest Star Wars party in the galaxy – Star Wars Celebration and it’s a great benefit for great charity.”
Heroes Landing’s Todd Merrick added “Heroes Landing has always supported local charities and knew that teaming up with Star Wars Action News would reach a broader audience than just our local community. We look forward to hosting this event with great success.”

PROS:Despite its immense size, Hasbro managed to pack all the articulation and sculpted details that we’ve become accustomed to on figures a third of its stature. The unique packaging also sets this figure apart from the basic figure line.
CONS: If you haven’t played the game, I doubt you know who this dude is. The $14.99 price point is a bit high but considering it uses enough plastic to make two and a half figures, I guess it seems about right.

The official site has updated tonight with the announcement of a new set of Bounty Hunter Cube Dudes that will be exclusive to Celebration V. This set follows the recent SDCC exclusive Clone Wars set including Yoda, Obi-Wan, R2, C-3PO and Captain Rex and the Toy Story Buzz Lightyear from Toy Fair 2010. I decided to go Target at lunch and I found the entire wave of new Star Wars including vehicles and Clone Wars, and I noticed a lady that had a Hasbro name tag looking and scanning the figures. So I kinda hung around deciding if I need a couple of doubles like the AT-AT commander and cloud car pilot. I overhear her on her phone calling someone and then she gives the zip code of the store and store number and starts talking about a fine of $200 saying this stuff should not be out tell August 3rd. She then says that the manager is not there but she has already informed the supervisor and they are aware.
She also said that the new Transformers were out so they could be dinged on that as well. So I quickly grabed the figures I wanted and head to the front because I could hear talking about having someone from electronic come over and pull these off the shelf.
I think that $200 fine is per offending item and not a one time fee so if true, stores are looking at some serious infractions for setting the new goods early.

The dust has settled on another successful SDCC and we’ve updated or galleries again with more photos from the weekend. A HUGE thanks to our on-site team members Michael and Joe for braving the crowds to provide us this year’s coverage.
Variation hunters take note. Our friends at Rebelscum are reporting that a running change is in the works for the Revenge of the Sith Anakin Skywalker card back. It will be changed to the more appropriate “Darth Vader” nameplate. No word on if this change will apply to both the standard and foil stamped “UGH” card backs.
