VC22 Admiral Ackbar

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Admiral Ackbar from the Vintage Collection’s Return of the Jedi wave.

PROS: Our favorite appetizer, err, Admiral receives a modern update with all the bells and whistles he would need to lead the Rebel Fleet into victory! Excellent sculpt and overall design and the inclusion of the command console is a nice touch versus that weird comlink wrist blaster from over a decade ago.

CONS: No ankle joints, not that he needed them. Wrong rank/badge sculpt on the uniform looks to have been modeled after the Mon Calamari Officer. That being said, do not skip this figure.

VC15 Clone Trooper 3.0

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue today revisiting the Clone Trooper from the Vintage Collection.

Third time’s a charm. Hasbro continues to tinker with figures in the Vintage Collection, this time correcting a paint operation oversight for the Clone Trooper’s removable helmet. The black brow stripe and blue cheek stripes have now been added creating a third production variant. Trick is finding one without the discolored helmet.

VC13 Darth Vader

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Darth Vader from the Vintage Collection.

Making good on their promise for a running change for Anakin Skywalker from Revenge of the Sith, Hasbro doesn’t stop there as they also revise the card back to include a sneak preview of wave 5! This packaging variant is currently shipping with the Return of the Jedi wave of figures. Note: there is no change to the figure.

CW26 Flamethrower Clone Trooper

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Flamethrower Clone Trooper from the Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: A cool retake/upgrade on the Cold Assault Gear Captain Rex sculpt and includes awesome accessories for frying Zombie Geonosians and Battle Droids alike.

CONS: None really other than the lack of ankle joints.

CW25 Ki-Adi-Mundi

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Ki-Adi-Mundi from the Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: Overall, a nice figure sculpt that captures the angular/slim esthetics of the series. Implementation of soft goods works well here too.

CONS: Tauntaun-in-the-highlights look for the eyes, no ankle joints. Odd neck joint design prevents head from looking left to right. A bit lacking in the accessory category.

CW24 Jungle Camo ARF Trooper

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Jungle Camo ARF Trooper from the Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: This particular deco was inevitable when we saw this style clone trooper in the movie and TV series. Premium articulation allows for great dynamic poses and helps in the figure’s stability immensely especially when wielding the gatling gun.

CONS:Camo pattern on the armor seems a little light when compared to the character model/skin.

CW23 Kit Fisto

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Kit Fisto from the Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: The added articulation in the legs and soft goods “skirt” make this the near-perfect revision to the prior figure from 2009. Nice touch supplying the lightsaber from his slain former padawan.

CONS:Despite having a phenomenal head sculpt, its design prevents any real head movement/positioning.

CW22 Battle Droid Commander

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Battle Droid Commander from the Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: A nice repaint of the basic battle droid mold. The figure has a nice silver/metallic wash in areas in addition to the yellow commander markings.

CONS: Legs lack articulation (knee and ankle) that would really help in the overall stability and playability of the figure. The legs also warp very easily making the use of a display stand almost mandatory. Finally, and extra joint in the arms (recycled from the Battle at B’Omarr Monastery sculpt) would/should have been utilized here as well.
