New Acme Archive Character Key
September 30, 2006 | 8:39 AM EST | Mark B

I am now totally hooked on these 5×7 Character Keys from Acme Archives. Now if I could just come up with the money for some of the early ones like Yoda and Obi-Wan (which are $100+ on Ebay). These character keys are a great way to collect a piece of the Clone Wars Animated series. They each feature an individual character with references for animators on colors, poses, etc. They are really a great value at around $30 each. People who ordered the Count Dooku from Sideshow should have received it or are getting them any day (mine show up on Monday). The latest is an exclusive from Razor’s Edge Collectiblesof Asajj Ventress. This is the second exclusive that Razor’s Edge has offered (the first being the Arc Trooper). I’ve ordered from them before and they offer great shipping and service. The Ventress Key is limited to 1000 pieces – and like all the character keys they go FAST. Pop on over to Razor’s Edge to check it out!

Toyguide Update: #044 Luke Skywalker
September 30, 2006 | 7:13 AM EST | Jayson

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue with the addition of a figure I’ve want redone for a long time: Luke Skywalker in Endor Gear. While the figure itself is basically a repack of the Saga and OTC versions, the Endor Poncho and helmet accessories really bring this figure to life. Hopefully an Endor Gear Leia won’t be too far off in our future.

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue with the addition of padawan
Obi-Wan Kenobi. At his Master’s side, they prepare to confront an enemy that the Jedi Order hasn’t seen the likes of in a millenia.

Medicom Clonetrooper Goes On Sale Today
September 29, 2006 | 8:27 AM EST | Mark B

Medicom Toy Clone Trooper RAH figure

Don’t forget, today’s the day for the 12″ Medicom Real Action Hero Clonetrooper to go on sale over at Sideshow Collectibles. 10am PST is the go live time. There’s only going to be 1000 of these so they are sure to go quick. One thing I have heard about these (besides being INCREDIBLE), is that the Medicom figures are slightly smaller in scale than the Sideshow figures, that being said, I don’t want to hear anyone say the first time they open the box – “Aren’t you a little short for a Clonetrooper?”

Toyguide Update: #050 Naboo Soldier
September 28, 2006 | 10:54 PM EST | Jayson

The Yakface Toyguide updates conclude tonight with the addition of the Naboo Soldier. Move over Elmo, THIS will be the hottest item for Christmas this year. Hopefully Hasbro will make a red version as well so he’ll have someone to hold hands with in the back of my display case. : )

Star Wars Action News – Episode 57
September 26, 2006 | 1:07 PM EST | Scott

This week on Star Wars Action News, Arnie and Marjorie respond to some feedback regarding the lack of enthusiasm for Star Wars held by even some of the most hard-core fans. One fan wrote in and said that despite his four Star Wars tattoos, finding new product on the shelves is leaving him cold. Arnie and Marjorie try to help this lost sheep find his way back to the flock.

In addition, we discuss the lack of new product on the shelves lately but are brimming with anticipation at the reports of new finds at both Toys R Us and Target!

With a double dose of Hasbro Q&As, Scott From Tulsa bringing you up to speed on the latest on-line offerings from Acme, and Jakob discussing the enemy of Star Wars collectors everywhere, this is an episode not to be missed! So download Star Wars Action News today!

If Anyone Wants to Get Me a Christmas Gift….
September 26, 2006 | 8:46 AM EST | Mark B

StarWarsShop.com has added a great item for both the Boba Fett Fan and Watch Collector (hint, hint to everyone….I’m both). While I can stomach most of the Fossil Watches, this one is a little out of my price range – but if I have a long lost wealthy relative, you can fill my wish list for this 500 piece worldwide, GSX Japanese Boba Fett wristwatch over at StarWarsShop.com

Yakface News: Server Maintenance
September 26, 2006 | 5:47 AM EST | Jayson

Tonight (Tuesday), Yakface.com might be off inline periodically as the site will be tranferring to a new server and “should” be back to normal working operation Wednesday morning. Fortunately, the forums are being hosted on a separate server (by our own Brandon) right now so it should be unaffected. Forum members might wish to bookmark the forums to avoid any access problems when trying to browse/post during the main site’s “down time”.

This message will self-destruct in 3….. 2….. 1……

The Saga Begins…In Lego
September 25, 2006 | 2:32 PM EST | Scott

On October 23, 1959, a man was born whose music would go on to inspire a generation and usher in an era of worldwide peace. I am of course talking about the greatest songwriter of the 20th century Weird Al Yankovic.

Well one of those individuals whose life was touched by this man-god went on to create an homage to his 1999 opus “The Saga Begins” entirely in Lego.

You can behold all the Legoey (look Mom, I invented a word!) goodness by heading THIS WAY to YouTube. It’s cute…really!

NOTE If you’re like me and you wait in breathless anticipation of divine inspiration handed down from on high, in this case, a new Weird Al CD, then you should know that his new album “Straight Outta Lynwood” hits stores TOMORROW.

You may now go and seek out a clean set of undergarments, since you undoubtedly soiled them at this news.

HOLY S#$* YO! You gotta check out Al’s new video “White & Nerdy” (A riff on Ridin’ by Chamillonaire). In it you get references to action figure collecting, “The Star Wars Kid” and the SW Holiday Special. CLICKIT. This song may very well be the theme song that sums up my entire life. Kill me now.

Duel of the Allergies
September 24, 2006 | 8:26 PM EST | Jayson

Tonight on The Simpsons, Bart (armed with a peanut on a stick) and Principal Skinner (armed with a shrimp on a stick) dueled each other to the tune of “Duel of the Fates” trying to set off each others allergies. Skinner also yelled “Noooooooooo” a la Darth Vader from the end of ROTS. Funny Stuff.

StarWarsShop.com: RAH Stromtrooper
September 12, 2006 | 5:02 PM EST | Jayson

Shop.StarWars.com has updated today with the addition of Medicom’s Stormtrooper Real Action Hero 12-Inch Figure. Imported exclusively to the U.S. by StarWarsShop, Medicom’s new Stormtrooper poseable figure looks so photo-realistic that we actually thought these images were actors posed in suits. Medicom’s artisans have so masterfully captured the look and articulation of the costumed characters that this trooper is easily the closest representation of the notorious Imperial minions crafted to date.

Ships Jan. 29, 2007 for $129.99

Star Wars Action News – Episode 55
September 12, 2006 | 12:01 AM EST | Scott

After the live show last week, Star Wars Action News returns to its roots this week to discuss the latest in Star Wars collecting. Just in time, too, as this week is the most important week to Star Wars fans for all of 2006 as the Original Original Trilogy is released on DVD. There are exclusives at a number of different stores, including Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Wal Mart, and more. We run down each of these stores’ exclusives. Or, if you’re not interested in the store exclusive collectibles, we also discuss where you can get the DVDs cheapest (mail in rebate or no mail in rebate is up to you).

Also, this week saw the release of Gentle Giant’s convention exclusive busts open to the general public on the internet. Some collectors were able to add these items to their collection. Marjorie, Arnie, and Scott discuss the aftermath.

Finally, our new webmaster, Jason, attended his first convention this past weekend with cell phone in hand. He scored us two surprise celebrity appearances, both of whom are prominent in the new OOT DVDs. He also lets us relive the experience of a fan going to their first convention.

This Friday at 5:45 p.m. Pacific Time Amy Blanchard from Master Replicas will be coming to our forums to have a trivia contest where she will be giving away some cool Master Replicas prizes! All the details can be found in the threadhere so mark your calendars and be sure to attend and maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones to win a great prize!

Plus we have the store reports from Arnie, Marjorie, and Scott, as well as some reports from our listeners. Be sure to download Star Wars Action News. And if you enjoy the show, please tell a friend, post on message boards, and help spread the word about Star Wars Action News, the only podcast by Star Wars collectors, for Star Wars collectors.

How Has Star Wars Changed Your Life?
September 11, 2006 | 2:30 PM EST | Scott

We’ve just gotten word about a new documentary that’s hitting DVD in a few weeks that you may find interesting. I’ll let the press release they sent tell the story…

“5HeadsTall Productions, the Manchester UK based company responsible for the hugely successful online TV show “Inside Report”, are thrilled to announce that the long awaited documentary, “George and Me” is to be released on DVD on 30th September 2006.

“George and Me” investigates how much of a positive “force” Star Wars has been on fans’ lives since its release nearly 30 years ago. It shows that the traditional stereotype of the “geeky” fan has little value in today’s world and that being a fan can really enrich your life and give you the courage to shoot for the stars. It features interviews with fans such as Albin Johnson founder of the 501st,, and Shane Felux director of “Revelations”, the most successful fan-film to date. It also features many other fans from across the globe who have all done amazing and wonderful things because of their love for Star Wars.

The film took the two indie producers, Sky Wilson and Vin Kelly, nearly 2 years to complete, financing the whole operation themselves. They travelled across the United States and all over England in order to see first hand the amazing accomplishments that fans had achieved.

“All of the fans fans we met were special people and should get the recognition they deserve”, said Sky. We wanted to show that Star Wars fans are really wonderful people who have done great things as a result of liking Star Wars,” adds Vin.

This film is the company’s first foray into documentary filmmaking and they hope it’s not the last. The film is released on DVD in Region 1 and Region 2 formats on 30th September 2006.”

You can click on the banner above to check out the site for synopsis, and trailers of the new doc.

Another Request for 9/11
September 11, 2006 | 12:41 PM EST | Mark B

As we in the United States observe and remember the 5th anniversary of probably the worst day in American history, take the time out of your day to do two things – 1. hug a loved one and tell them that you love them. 2. If you have the opportunity today to see a person in uniform, whether it is military, police, paramedic, or fire – take a moment to tell them Thanks for volunteering and placing their lives on the line to keep you and your family safe.

Today We Remember
September 11, 2006 | 12:23 AM EST | rykrofenloe

Five years ago, those who plotted ruin brought chaos and destruction to the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Flight 93, affecting lives all around the world. So many died and suffered that day.

Not long after that tragic day, a friend sent me this tribute and wanted me to share it with as many people as I could. After watching the tribute again today, it’s a solid reminder of what our country is responding to and helps one remember the impact of this event during difficult times; present and in the future. Please keep in the mind the tribute depicts difficult images from that tragic day.

Regardless of your faith, political beliefs, etc, we ask that all of our readers take a moment today to remember and honor those that were lost.

OT: Happy Birthday STAR TREK!
September 8, 2006 | 11:48 AM EST | Scott

On this date, exactly 40 years ago at 8:30pm E.S.T., a TV series made it’s inauspicious debut on NBC that would change the lives of thousands of geeks.

I’m talking of course of STAR TREK. The venerable space western without which, and let’s be perfectly honest here, there might not be a Star Wars.

In the eyes of some, I’m commiting the ultimate blasphemy in using the “T” word on a Star Wars site, but I don’t care. You see, I’m living proof that you CAN be a fan of BOTH franchises. In fact, I was a Trek fan long before I was a Wars fan. I hold Kirk, Spock & McCoy as dear to my heart every bit as much as Luke, Vader and Yoda.

So let’s dispense with the Trek vs. Wars debate, if only for today and show some love to the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

May it live long…..ah….you know the rest.

If you want to share the love, you can discuss it HERE in our forums.

SAGA2 TRU TIE Fighter Pilot Variation
September 8, 2006 | 1:05 AM EST | rykrofenloe

We’ve had a few emails with Yakkers asking which pilot was being packed with the TRU exclusive color variant TIE Fighter. Original reports were indication that it was the POTF2 “buff” styled TIE Pilot being packed in, but we had some reports of the SAGA/OTC TIE Pilot being packed in as well.

For those out there that were unsure, there are definitely two versions of TIE Pilots shipping. At a local St. Louis TRU this evening, I saw six of the new TIE Fighter, and three had the newer styled pilot (in pic above from the one I bought) and the other three contained the older pilot. Hopefully this is just a running change and future assortments will have the newer sculpt.

Have you seen any yet? If so, let us know what version by clicking here

UPDATE TIE’s & X-Wings Abound!
September 1, 2006 | 11:17 AM EST | Scott

Holy Smoke! You’d think Episode 7 was opening next week or something from the looks of the shelf at my local TRU (Madison Hgts, MI).

Stopped on by this morning to find the shelf decked out in Star Wars attire and stuffed to the gills with Dagobah X-wings and the new Grey colored TIE Fighter. No AT-AT’s present though.

If you need these vehicles, now would probably be a good time to make a toy run!

UPDATE I just opened up my X-wing (yes, I said OPENED IT! BWA HA HA HA!!) and was surprised to discover that the Dragonsnake figure is not just a cheesy one piece rubber monster, it’s actually got 4 points of articulation. The head swivels where the neck meets the body, it’s “arms” move and it also has a hinged joint at the tail so you can swing it back and forth.

Also, the arms on this version of Jedi Training Luke are removable like the previous Saga version, so now you have a THIRD configureation to put Luke in. Way to go the extra distance Hasbro!
