Han in Pumpkinite?
October 31, 2006 | 7:42 PM EST | Keri

I was surfing around the vast reaches of the Internet hunting for some pumpkin ideas and ran across a site with some of the most amazing pumpkin art I have seen in quite some time.

Among the creations are jaw-droppingly realistic representations of Aliens, Predators, Mr. Spock, amazing animals and my personal favorite, the afore mentioned Han in Pumpkinite.

If you have the time, take a few moments and enjoy Scott Cummins’ galleries of endless pumpkin talent at his site www.pumpkingutter.com

I’m taking a break from carving my yearly Star Wars themed pumpkin, but I will be sure and post pictures in the forums along with any other creations from our members.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween everyone!

Star Wars Action News – Episode 62
October 31, 2006 | 10:11 AM EST | Scott

On Saturday Marjorie and Arnie took a whirlwind trip to Dallas, TX. Jake Lloyd was doing a rare signing in Dallas. Having not gotten his signature, Arnie and Marjorie flew down to get his signature. What did they think of meeting “the chosen one?” Listen to find out as they reflect on their last convention experience of 2006.

Also they look forward to the biggest convention experience of 2007. This morning Star Wars Celebration IV tickets went on sale. Arnie and Marjorie got theirs, as did thousands of other people, all of whom are now on edge to see about the hotels on Thursday. Star Wars Action News is here to help with a primer on hotel areas in Los Angeles reported to you by L.A. native Chris Tellez.

Finally, we have the store reports with information on where you can find the Ebooine II wave (if you hurry), and some new toys just hitting shelves.

Don’t forget, Wednesday begins a new month and we could really use your support to start the month off strong at Podcast Alley. And if you haven’t voted yet this month, head over and vote, then go back on Wednesday!

So head on over to www.swactionnews.com to download the latest episode, or download it directlyHERE. We hope you enjoy the show!

St. Louis Toy Man Toy Show
October 31, 2006 | 2:43 AM EST | rykrofenloe

We have many Yak readers in the St. Louis area – so for all of you in this neck of the woods, one of the larger collector shows in St. Louis will be taking place this Sunday.

Quite often the Toy Man Toy Show in St. Louis is the best place to buy toys in this area. This every-other-month toy convention at the Machinist Hall in Bridgeton is a secondary market of action figures and toys, with many dealers selling Hot Wheels, model kits, video games, assorted 1980s action figures, movie posters, and of course Star Wars figures – usually at decent prices.

The Toy Man Toy Show this Sunday is at the Machinist Hall from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM next to Target:

12365 St. Charles Rock Road
Bridgeton, MO 63044

Sometimes at these shows I find exactly what I am looking for, sometimes not. But usually I find a way to end up with a bag full of stuff. So if you are in the area and decide to check it out, good luck!

NEW Titanium Ultras Found!
October 29, 2006 | 7:29 PM EST | Scott

You can slap me upside the head with a dead fish if this is actually old news, but I’ll be dinged if I’d heard about these being found anywhere yet.

During my rounds this afternoon I spotted the Titanium Ultra Millenium Falcon, Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter AND the Ultra Battlestar Galactica. This was at my local TRU (Madison Hgts, MI).

What with the Ultra line possibly going the way of the dodo, I thought this might make a head’s up for you Titanium fans out there.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS ARE YOUR WORLD CHAMPIONS!
October 27, 2006 | 11:52 PM EST | rykrofenloe

Being from St. Louis and witnessing the team’s losses in the series in 1985, 1987, and 2004 makes a fan appreciate this all the more, especially when nearly everyone predicted a Cardinals loss against Detroit.

So for all you Cardinal fans – enjoy this, never forget what a roller coaster ride this season was and the unbelievable turnaround in the playoffs this team had as they came together and brought us our first championship in 24 years.

And congratulations to the Detroit Tigers for a magical season as well.

UPDATE FROM SCOTT C. Yeah, but wait until next season, we’ll be back! Seriously though, from a die-hard Tigers fan, congrats to the Cards and their fans, You earned it.

Star Wars Action News – Episode 61
October 23, 2006 | 8:38 AM EST | Scott

This week Star Wars Action News has a monument-al episode. That’s right, across the country very large, beaten up boxes are arriving on people’s doorsteps and inside is the Gentle Giant Yoda Monument. Arnie’s arrived with a large hole in the side. Was Yoda damaged? And was Yoda worth the money? Listen to this week’s Star Wars Action News to find out!

Also this week we talk about the very small. Marjorie and Arnie went down to visit the Paducah Imperials again for a Star Wars Minis tournament. While there, Arnie talked to some of the Imperials about minis, from strategy to squad building, and the money spent on these tiny armies.

Finally, Yodasnews.com broke a major story this week with the announcement of Master Replicas’ 2007 product line-up. Arnie and Marjorie take an item-by-item look at this line-up. Of course there are more lightsabers, blasters, and helmets, but coins, keychains, and shot glasses? Listen this week to find out, and then head over to Yodasnews.com to see the pictures for yourself!

If you enjoy the show, please show your support by casting a vote for us at Podcast Alley. We’re making a strong showing this month; help us end the month on a high note! It only takes a few seconds and there’s never any spam!

So head on over to www.swactionnews.com to download the latest episode, or download it directlyHERE. We hope you enjoy the show!

UPDATE Hasbro BOO & A
October 22, 2006 | 4:07 PM EST | Scott

What’s scarier than seeing your great aunt Millie stepping out of the shower? Going a whole week without an installment of Hasbro’s Q & A session.

Relax! The Q&A is back this week with answers to freeze your blood and chill your very soul. Why you just might even find yet ANOTHER shocking confirmation of ANOTHER long-rumored vehicle!

But the only way to find out is to come inside…if you dare!…MUA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Man…I need a drink.

UPDATE For some odd reason, the answers topic appears not to be responding at the moment. We hope to have it up and running again soon. In the meantime, I’ll post the answers from this week’s Q&A here until it’s working again…

1) Thanks for last week’s confirmation on the Sith Infiltrator, I know a lot of fans are looking forward to that one. However another vehicle rumored in the same breath as the Infiltrator has been the V-Wing fighter from ROTS. Is it coming as well?

It sure is. We don’t have more info for you, but it will be paired in the same assortment as the Sith Infiltrator. This is one vehicle wave we can’t wait to see hit the shelves!

2) I know that you are no longer able to answer questions about specific characters, but is there any way that you could tell us if there are *any* new-sculpt beasts on the way such as the dactillion, the aiwha, or the orray? These could fill a low price point and it has been a while since we have seen beasts on the market.

These are all cool ideas, but none are in the works right now.

3) The Death Star Gunner has got to be one of the best figures released this year. That being said, I’m wondering if we might see some kind of deluxe version with a Death Star turbolaser cannon? There’s a photo of a Gunner manning one of the cannons right on the cardback, so as you can see, it wouldn’t be very large.

There are no plans for any deluxe sets right now, but that would be a pretty cool one for a scene-type of pack. With our other priorities, we’re not sure how we’d bring that to retail, but we’ll discuss it. Thanks.

UPDATE 2 Looks like it’s fixed.

Star Wars Action News – Episode 60
October 16, 2006 | 9:16 PM EST | Scott

Ahhh, collecting! Only a hard core collector can epitomize the branch of Murphy’s law that says “No matter how long or hard you shop for an item, after you’ve bought it, it will be on sale somewhere cheaper.”
That is certainly the case this week as Target has marked down many Star Wars items. From their exclusive “Fire Crotch” Vader to their also exclusive Unleashed Boba Fett and General Grievous. Items that collectors (or at least Arnie) had sweated about being able to find are not only plentiful but also have been deep discounted to clear the way for Target exclusive Snowspeeders and ‘Starfighers’ [sic], which themselves will likely be plentiful and deep discounted long after you, and Arnie, have bought them!

Also this week, Arnie and Marjorie almost put each otherís eyes out with the new spring-loaded role-playing lightsaber. Listen as they suffer abuse in this week’s item review.

If you enjoy the show, please head over to iTunes to write us a review, and stop by Podcast Alley and cast a vote our way!

So head on over to www.swactionnews.com to download the latest episode, or download it directlyHERE. We hope you enjoy the show!

Colbert Vs. Lucas
October 15, 2006 | 11:56 PM EST | Scott

For those of you who don’t watch The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, you missed one hell of an amazingly funny bit.

Stephen Colbert closed an episode of his show by crossing FX Lightsabers in a mock duel with none other than George Lucas®.

For the record, Stephen Colbert has a wicked sharp wit, political savvy and he’s also a dyed in the wool geek like the rest of us. Gotta love that.

Check out The George going all “Duel of the Fates” on Stephen in THIS CLIP on YouTube.

A Vader to Carry Your Data
October 13, 2006 | 8:20 AM EST | Mark B

This has to be one of the best Star Wars licensed items I have ever seen. This is one of those must haves for the Star Wars fan who is also a computer geek (hey, I can say geek – its not a bad thing anymore – geeks make all the money!!!). These little USB Memory sticks are great for carrying your data back and forth from work, school, or just hanging onto those few great photos that you like to show everyone. While these are a little expensive for the amount of storage they hold, where else are you going to get one shaped like Darth Vader??? These are available now over atStarWarsShop.com

Target Unleashed Clearance
October 12, 2006 | 2:33 PM EST | rykrofenloe

It appears that some Target stores are already putting their exclusive Boba Fett and General Grievous on clearance, as we have had reports of this as well as personally spotting them for $13.85 in St. Louis. So if you’ve been holding back now may be the time to pick them up.

EDIT: Piggybacking on Justin’s post, I’ve seen these 2 as well on clearance for less than $10.00 in the Minneapolis area. Probably to make shelf space available for the Snowspeeder and Fisto Starfighter – Jayson

Master Replicas News
October 12, 2006 | 9:05 AM EST | Mark

From the great folks at Master Replicas:

At long last, Master Replicas’ highly anticipated Clone Trooper Helmet from Episode III is In Stock!

To create our Clone Trooper helmet replica, Lucasfilm provided Master Replicas with the original ILM digital character files – no physical helmets were actually created for the film! From these digital files, we generated a 3D model to use as a master pattern to create accurate molds from which we produce our helmets in high quality fiberglass. Since we used original computer renders, you can be assured that our Clone Trooper helmet is an exact replica, accurately repeating the multitude of subtle shapes and curves that make up this incredible piece of armor that bridges the gap between the Clone Trooper forces of the prequels and the Stormtroopers of the classic trilogy.

Clone Trooper Helmets are shipping now! If you have not already ordered yours, click here!

Master Replicas Needs YOU
Peter Jackson and The Hobbit

Halloween. Sure it’s a lot of fun when you’re a kid – dressing up and begging door-to-door for treats. But it gets better when you’re an adult; in fact, behind New Years Eve and Super Bowl Sunday, Halloween is the most popular “party” night in the United States for adults. So if you’re reading this and you haven’t decided what you’re going to dress up as – maybe because you think you’re too old for Halloween – then pay attention, because we’re going to make it easy for you to put together a bang-up costume. And if you already know what you’re going to be…well, Master Replicas has some special offers to help you accentuate that already cool costume.

Really, who better to help with Halloween Costumes than MR? After all, props are merely extensions of a character’s costume, right? And this way, when the holiday is over, you’ve still got an awesome collectible to add to your collection… Let’s explore, shall we?

Pirates of the Caribbean
Sure, you may not be as good looking as Johnny Depp, the actor who portrays Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise…and you’re almost certainly not as rich. And no way are you that charismatic or charming. *sigh* Johnny. Wait, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, the point is, Jack Sparrow is sure to be one of the most popular Halloween costumes this holiday season. And Master Replicas has the accessories that you need to ensure you have the best buccaneer booty on the block!

Give that Jack Sparrow costume a touch of authenticity with replicas of one (or both) of Jack Sparrow’s weapons of choice:

Jack Sparrow Sword Limited Edition
“‘Tis the edge of me blade you’ll be feeling!” Master Replicas is proud to offer an authentic replica of Jack Sparrow’s Sword, meticulously recreated to give your office or home an air of swashbuckling swagger.

Jack Sparrow Flintlock Limited Edition
Keep your powder dry! Jack Sparrow’s flintlock is painstakingly replicated as an authentic hero prop from Master Replicas.

Or maybe good guys aren’t your thing…think you’ve got the tentacles to pull off a Davy Jones costume? If so, you’ll be needing:

Davy Jones Key Replica
The key to a great costume can be yours! Davy Jones’ key to the Dead Man’s Chest lies within your grasp as an authentic hero prop from Master Replicas.

Mouseketeer Ears
Say dashing Pirate heroes are not your thing… well, how about going as a Mouseketeer with MR’s Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer Ears Replica? (Oh, you think we’re joking? It’s a real costume!) All you have to do is show up to the party, walk in the door, wave cheerfully announce yourself as, “Annette!”

And now, for all you would-be Mouseketeers, Master Replicas is pleased to offer a limited edition coupon, good for $20 off of the Mouseketeer Ears Replica. Just enter coupon code:

Narnia White Witch’s Wand
All the other witches on your block will be wearing black. In Narnia, white is the new black! Give your White Witch costume that finishing touch with this elegant wand prop replica!

Force FX Lightsabers

Wow your friends and neighbors with the 64 super-bright LEDs that light up sequentially, and the motion-senor controlled sounds of the Force FX Lightsabers! In this week’s “Spotlight,” we take a look at our very own Sarah Murphy … Take it away, Sarah!

Who are you, and what do you do at Master Replicas?
• I’m Sarah Murphy, I support the wholesale sales team, and do trade shows.
Give us a little personal background – where did you grow up, go to school, etc?
• I’m a local (I was actually born a couple of miles from the home office here in Walnut Creek) and have lived here most of my life. I did live briefly in Florence, Italy, and went to college at CSU Chico. (Getting into Chico State may not be much of an accomplishment- but I assure you, getting out is!)
What is your favorite Master Replicas product, and why?
• The Cinderella Slipper, some people might say I have a princess complex…
If you were a replica, what would you be?
• I’d be the Travelocity Gnome. He gets to go everywhere!
What is your dream product (or license) for Master Replicas?
• I love the Muppet photo puppets, I really want us to make Statler and Waldorf, the two old guys in the balcony.
Master Replicas has got to be a lot of fun – any amusing stories about any of your co-workers?
• Well, I like my job, so I have to be a bit selective…
But since this is Travis’ question, this is fair. Travis, our Marketing Manager pointed out that one of our sales reps (who also happened to be his roommate) likes to work in his underwear. This happened to come up in a conference call and as it turns out the offender was pants-less at the time. Retribution was swift, and within an hour I had a picture of Travis dressed in his girlfriend’s ballet costume. (A fairy princess, complete with wings, pointy ears, and what appears to be a bottle of beer) Travis was out of the office at the time, so we papered his desk, the kitchen, supply closets, reception area, the CEO’s office; we even framed some and made it the wall paper on his computer. I still don’t know if he has not found them all or if he likes the way he looks in lavender tulle.
Do you collect anything? If so, what?
• Shoes & purses
You share an office with Heather…so what’s her deal?
• Heather is pretty much my least favorite person at MR, but we all have our crosses to bear… Honest, the giggling that comes from our office is just a sham…
Murphy. That’s a good Irish name…what does a typical St. Patrick’s Day consist of for you?
• Guinness, Bailey’s, Jameson, Corned beef, Harps, Bushmills, Black & Tan’s, oh yeah, and beer.
Corey Haim or Corey Feldman ?
• Feldman- c’mon- Goonies?

In honor of our Spectacular Halloween sale we thought it would be fun to play some Halloween trivia this week!

To play, send us an email to games@masterreplicas.com with your full name, shipping address, email address, phone number and the correct answers to the questions below. All e-mails with the correct answers will be entered into our prize pool. We will randomly select one winner from the pool. The winner will be announced in an upcoming newsletter. This week’s winner will receive a FX lightsaber that you can use for your Halloween costume! Good luck!

Question #1:

Every Halloween, Charlie Brown helps his friend Linus wait for what character to appear?

Question #2:

What country celebrates “The Day of the Dead” instead of Halloween?

Question #3:

What are male witches called?

Naboo Wave at Walgreens
October 9, 2006 | 9:19 PM EST | rykrofenloe

We’ve had some reports that the Naboo Wave has been showing up at Walgreens stores. But don’t expect to find the whole wave at a single store, Walgreens distribution centers break up cases of figures and send each store just 1-3 figures usually per case in their weekly shipments.

Sure enough, I went to four Walgreens stores on my way home tonight, and found one Naboo figure at one store – Gragra.

Retail at Walgreens for Star Wars figures is usually $7.99.

Help A Fan…Find A Fan!
October 5, 2006 | 10:11 AM EST | Scott

One of the services we provide here at Yaks is helping fans connect with each other. My friend Amy O. wrote me concerning the following dilemma she’s having…

“I’m searching for a Star Wars fan. Not just anyone, this person is unique because she’s female (not o ton of us out there like the guys) I’m hoping that there is someone here that might know her, or know of her. It’s very possible that she belongs to a group out there somewhere. I met this person at the opening weekend of Where Science Meets Imagination at COSI in Columbus Ohio. We were in an elevator with bunch of Stormtroopers and she noticed my tattoos. She told me she had ‘Star Wars’ across her back (didn’t get around to showing me). Anyhoo, we never exchanged names or info (short elevator ride). I’d really like to get in touch with her. She’s probably in her 20’s, about 5’6, short haircut.”

So, are you the person Amy is looking for? or do you know who she is? Contact Me and I’ll put you in touch with her.

Sometimes a camera phone is a reporter’s best buddy. Without it I wouldn’t be able to bring you the above pic of the new comemorative tin I spotted at my local TRU.

This is also the first merchandise I’ve seen hit the shelves decked out in the new SW-30 packaging.

This is the ROTS set with Mace Windu (straight repack of ROTS-10), Yoda (Appears to be ROTS-03 with VOTC Yoda cloak and cane), Anakin (Evolutions) and AT-RT Driver (Repaint).

Visions Of The Future Continue
October 3, 2006 | 7:31 AM EST | Bill

The team over at Galactic Hunter have tracked down more 411 on what’s coming in Hasbro’s 2007 line, this time via one of the French Star Wars sites, The Sith Clan, it appears that the Sith Infiltrator, an E-wing, an ARC-170 with figure pack-ins, and a Clone Wars ARC-170 are all on the way, as is the Yavin wave. In addition it appears, at least in Europe the “chase” coins may be a mail in. Check out the The Sith Clan here.

A word of caution: The scuplted red and blue wires that protrude from the right hand are formed from hard, brittle plastic. If he happens to fall over and lands just right, these wires can snap off. Trust me I learned the hard way.
