The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today the newest Star Wars bishoujo “beautiful girl” statue from Kotobukiya: Mara Jade.
PROS: Kotobukiya is known for their impressively designed and crafted model kits and statues and that tradition continues with this figure. The overall sculpt of the figure is sexy without being overly sexual – making it something you wouldn’t be embarrassed to have on display. Mara has a few display options as well thanks to the included alternate lightsabers, interchangeable cape and hood, and switchout display base inserts. One of the most attractive elements of this piece has to be the hair. It conveys a lot of motion in its sculpting and the use of translucent plastic (most observable at the tips of the hair) enhances the look, especially when backlit. The milky white skin tone is well done also and is highlighted with a slight tint of peach to give it depth without coming off dark.
CONS: Not so much a “con” as a disappointment as I would have liked an alternate left hand (and holster) that would allow the display of her holding her blaster pistol. I would also say take care in the removal and reattaching of the switchout accessories as the thin wisps of hair may be subject to breakage if you use too heavy a hand.
