R2-D2 Droids SDCC 2015 Exclusive Jumbo Figure

In 1985, everyone’s favorite protocol droid and astromech droid starred in their own animated TV series. Star Wars: Droids, featured R2-D2 and C-3PO on their early adventures that took place before Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.

To commemorate the May the 4th and the 30th Anniversary of the Star Wars: Droids Animated Series, Gentle Giant Ltd is happy to announce one of our Star Wars San Diego Comic Con 2015 Exclusive Droids R2-D2 Kenner Inspired Jumbo Figure! This figure was digitally scanned from mint 3 ¾” Kenner originals and reproduced in 12” scale while maintaining all of the figure’s details. Injection molded with durable plastics, this figure features original articulation. The Star Wars: Droids R2-D2 figure will even feature a jumbo replica of the coin that came with the original figures!

To further capture the vintage feel, Gentle Giant has packaged this figure with a Star Wars Droids inspired backer card featuring original photos and artwork. Designed with the collector in mind, the figure comes in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display this limited edition figure. This limited edition R2-D2 figure will be one of the hottest exclusives at San Diego Comic Con 2015!

Our friends at MakingStarWars.net turned us to a post over at HothBricks which claims to have the names, piece counts and prices for seven LEGO sets coming for The Force Awakens. The Realm Recap is back after the Memorial Day Weekend bring and in our absence, there were plenty of developments in collecting. Collectors success at retail has started to improve as more folks are finding Black Series figures (in both scales) at their local stores. eBay caused a bit of a frenzy this week as a notorious seller posted the first auction for a collectible from The Force Awakens — a 6″ First Order Stormtrooper which closed at a ridiculous price. Is it legit??? Also this week, new store finds from LEGO, product news for Disney Infinity 3.0, custom 6″ figures and vehicles as well as a new character name revealed fro The Force Awakens! It’s all on Episode 63 of The Realm Recap!

Hot Toys has released details for their upcoming 1:6 Scale Movie Masterpiece Series Luke Skywalker (A New Hope) figure*. Click on through for the features and images and watch for the preorder announcement soon from Sideshow Collectibles.

*Hot Toys gives the caveat that these are prototype images. There are a few items to address here, hopefully they include the proper lightsaber hilt as the one shown is from The Empire Strikes Back, not A New Hope.
