Star Wars Action News – Episode 79
February 27, 2007 | 10:42 AM EST | Scott
On Star Wars Action News this week, we catch up on our backlog of voice mails from when we were gone to New York. Voice mails which ponder the imponderables, such as: How easy is it to stick to changed collecting rules? Is America the only country on Earth not seeing the 30th Anniversary Hasbro Collection en masse? And why does Fix-A-Flat not work when it’s cold. All this and more in our second Voicemail-a-palooza.
We also hit Rewind on our calendar back to 1982, looking at the music, the movies, the events, and the STAR WARS. And this year it’s brought to us not by Kenner but by Parker Brothers.
As an extra bonus, we had our first in-studio interview with Courtney and Christian Macht, creators of the Star Wars documentary The Force Among Us. They discuss their motivation behind making another Star Wars documentary, what being a Star Wars fan means to them, and which lines they stood in at Star Wars Celebration 2. Also, The Force Among Us will make its film festival debut at the Lake County Film Festival on March 9th and 10th, so if you’re in the area be sure to stop by and support these independent filmmakers.
All this and more is in this week’s 79th episode of Star Wars Action News. We hope you enjoy it!

NO Uber Star Wars DVD Box Set In ’07?
February 23, 2007 | 2:30 PM EST | Scott
That’s what the spies over at The Digital Bits are reporting today. Apparently sales of the recent Limited Edition version were less than what they were hoping for, so now LFL is considering on putting the long awaited super box set in a holding pattern indefinitely.
This is all rumor at the moment, but The ‘Bits are known for having very reliable sources in the industry. Very upsetting if this turns out to be true, and IF it does, make sure to make your feelings known at C4.
Click the link above for the full scoop, plus, they raise some excellent points about this issue. After you read more, discuss it HERE in our forums.

Customizing Update – The Ultimate Group Project
February 22, 2007 | 1:48 PM EST | rykrofenloe
For several months a number of collectors in the customizing community have been working together to create an ambitious project – a fan fiction Star Wars planet to be displayed at Celebration 4. Thanks to support from our friend Frank of Niub Niub’s Universe, we have been guaranteed an allocated space for this custom diorama to be displayed.
Taking place just a few years before the first Death Star is destroyed, the planet called Judde Lulos, dubbed “The Jewel of the Empire” is a symbol of the Empire’s domination throughout the galaxy. Several great customs have already been created for the project, and some vehicles as well.
But there’s still a lot of work to do on this project – so if you were involved in the early stages, or are wanting to now start getting involved, swing by our Ultimate Group Project section HERE or with our friends over at Jedidefender.com.

R2-D2 Trash Can at ThinkGeek.com
February 22, 2007 | 7:13 AM EST | Jayson
From ThinkGeek.com…
Trash is just not that cool. Not only can it be dirty and odorous but it’s simply low-tech and boring. At least that’s what we used to think… until we saw this amazing R2-D2 Trashcan and learned to love trash. This stylish trash receptacle is imported from Japan and is an incredibly detailed replica of R2-D2. Step on R2’s center “foot” and his dome swings wide to collect your expired TPS reports and leftover wookie dung. In fact here at the ThinkGeek rebel base we’ve been generating extra waste just for the pleasure of disposing it inside our favorite droid. Everything was going great until we emptied the trash and accidentally discarded some Death Star plans… then the Rebel Massassi Outpost on the fourth moon of Yavin got destroyed and things just went downhill from there.
You can pick up this unique item for yourself or for the diehard R2-D2 fan for only $149.99. In stock now!

Look for this new chapter in the Star Wars Universe to hit stores February 2008.

Star Wars Action News – Episode 78
February 20, 2007 | 9:02 AM EST | Scott
Arnie and Marjorie were like Snake Pliskin this past week and (barely) escaped New York. But back home in small town Illinois they are, and they bring you tales of store runs in New York, Illinois, and an update on what Scott has found for Arnie in Tulsa, OK.
Also this week we do an in-depth review of 3 Day Blinds’ Star Wars offerings. To round out the Sithsonian, Arnie bought two sets of these blinds. Do they hang? Are they pretty? Listen this week to find out!
Finally, this week we flash back to 1981. The movies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), the music (Kenny Rogers’ “Lady”), the politics, and…oh yeah…the TOYS! Arnie reminisces about his favorite Star Wars toy of his childhood, which was released in 1981!
All this and more is in our 78th episode of Star Wars Action News. Download it now HERE or from our home page HERE
Thank you for listening! If you enjoyed the show, please tell a friend to listen!
JediAmy’s C4 Battle Wagon
February 19, 2007 | 8:53 PM EST | Scott
This may look like an innocuous camper-type vehicle. But if you look closely, little details give away hints that there is more here than meets the eye.
On the inside, it is a mobile shrine to all things Star Wars. This vehicle is being readied for a long haul from the frosty wastelands that is Hoth Michigan to the sunny shores of L.A. California on a pilgramage to Celebration 4.
The owner, a friend of Yakface known as JediAmy has been working for months preparing the ultimate Celebration 4 party wagon, working tirelessly to get all the details right to have the best SW experience possible.
There is more work to be done before she is ready for flight, but it promises to be a sight to behold when it’s tooling down the highway.
In addition to saving a ton of dough on hotel fare, she’ll also have penty of cargo room for all the C4 goodies she will no doubt be hauling home.
You can click on the thumbnail above to check out JediAmy’s photo gallery.
I will post some updates on Amy’s efforts as it nears competion, in the meantime, if you have any comments for Amy, feel free to post them HERE in our forums.

YAKtube – Building Empire
February 19, 2007 | 12:03 AM EST | Scott
A person who goes by the name of Jambe Davdar took it upon himself to create a unique viewing experience of ESB. Taking commentary tracks, documentary behind-the-scenes footage, and sprinkling it with his own subtitles chock full of facts and tidbits, he has created an altogether new version of the film as documentary.
Below you will find part 1 of his massive multi-part project. After you view it, be sure to look at the rest of the installments. He has given the same treatment to Return of the Jedi as well.
Thanks to Paul for giving me the word on this.
And as always, if you feel inclined to discuss any installment of YAKtube, you can do so right HERE.a

UPDATE: Error Bases Being Corrected?
February 16, 2007 | 7:37 AM EST | Jayson
The variant hunters at POTF2.com have reported that the EII Clone Trooper Sergeant as started showing up at retail with the corrected base stand. Initially, this figure shipped with a Empire Strikes Back base, now it includes the correct Attack of the Clones base.
No word yet if other figures with error bases are to be corrected. But with the looming arrival of the 30th Anniversary figures, these “corrected” versions might be the hardest to acquire – especially the Wal-Mart Exclusive Wave (if they’re corrected).
UPDATE: I was able to find my very own corrected version in the wild today at my local Target. Here is a photo of the base, clicky for a larger view….

30th Anniversary Figures Found
February 15, 2007 | 10:00 PM EST | rykrofenloe
According to some of our friends in the Kansas City area on www.coreplanets.com, these have surfaced at a Walmart in the area. So it might be a good idea to hit your local Walmart when they are stocking the shelves to see if you can score these a bit early…
Also, reports are coming in that the Appo Wave has been hitting at Toysrus stores in good numbers, so if you’re in need of the final SAGA figures, Geoffrey the Giraffe might be able to help you track those down…

February 15, 2007 | 10:43 AM EST | Scott
Just a head’s up to you folks who may be looking for one. Saesee Tiin’s Jedi Starfighter has begun hitting shelves.
Yours truly picked one of these up at a Meijer store in Warren, MI last night.
Great deco on this piece and the ROTS Saesee Tiin figure looks gorgeous sitting in it. A nice change from the Kit Fisto fighter that can’t actually hold a Kit Fisto don’t you think?

February 14, 2007 | 10:25 PM EST | Jayson
For all you variant hunters out there, be on the look out for a lighter version of the #63 Holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi. The newest version is a much lighter casting, like the Holographic Commander Cody figure rather than the initial dark blue/purple release.

Oh, and if you were like me and wondering about the scale on this item, it is going to measure about 12″ tall and 14″ across on the base (time to clear off some shelf space before the 3rd quarter shipping….)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Official Site
February 14, 2007 | 2:08 PM EST | Jayson
The official website for Star Wars™: The Force Unleashed™ has launched! You can check outwww.theforceunleashed.com for details about the next chapter in the Star Wars saga, which casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.
Be sure to check out the image gallery which depicts some great concept art. Not to mention a new lightsaber hilt design as seen with this female “sith” figure at Toyfair. The lightsaber is modeled similarly to a police baton – and she carries 2 of them.
Double the pleasure, double the fun!
Comment from Scott C. I dunno Jayson, if you scope out #12 in thier images section, the flaming yellow eyes she’s sporting means one of two things, either she should drink a helluva lot more orange juice because she’s got a raging case of jaundice or….she’s a sith!! Perhaps the female player version of the “secret apprentice” spoken of earlier.
Toynami Indiana Jones
February 14, 2007 | 7:34 AM EST | Bill
Toynami’s Indiana Jones Statue looks like he could have stepped right off the screen of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy is well over 2 feet tall, and the sculpting and details are nothing short of incredible. Each strand of hair is hand rooted, and the silicon Toynami used for his “skin” is so realistic that it moves like skin and muscle would if you move the head to the side. Even his eyebrows are rooted hair, not just painted on. If you’re an Indy Fan, beware, these retail for about $2,000.00 and only 50 are made each month.
Photonovels Spotlight
February 13, 2007 | 9:04 PM EST | rykrofenloe
Several members of the Yakface forums have updated with new additions to our photonovel section this past week, showing the creative imaginations of Star Wars fans.
Lushros Dofine has begun a special edition of his Cape of Deceit Series. Be sure to check it out to see a cool fan fiction perspective of how the Trade Federation justifies the creation of their droid army, by clicking here.
Meanwhile, Darth Nirvana has created a fan fiction war archive of of some of his awesome custom clone troopers, which you can see by clicking here.
Also, forum member MasterGrievous has kept the laughs going with his comedy series, which can be seen here.
Last but not least is a photonovel by Darth Depressis, which portrays events in the galaxy following Return of the Jedi. This ambitious project can be seen by clicking here.
If you’ve created a photnovel you’d like to share, or would like to offer feedback on the work of your fellow Yakkers, be sure to head on over to our photonovel section!
It’s The Swiss Army Knife Of The Galaxy
February 13, 2007 | 8:33 PM EST | Bill
While Nikko’s R2 doesn’t have a taser, or jets, it has just about everything else. In addition to the standard component connections, it also has SVGA connections for PC monitor signals, it can project your images right off your SD memory card. He’ll play your Ipod — MP3 or MP4 through his Ipod Dock, he has USB connections to display images and slide shows off your digital camera, and more! Of course he can also play cds, vcds, and dvds on his built in player. When he’s not providing the audio/video entertainment, R2 can entertain everyone as you drive him around using a set of keys on his Milennium Falcon remote control. In addition to his on-board 20 watt speakers including sub-wolfers, R2 has an optical out connection to send digital sound straight to your surround sound system. R2’s projector we saw at Nikko was crystal clear, using 3 chip LCOS technology to provide a very crisp image, avoiding the screen door effect of LCD projectors. In addition, Nikko tells us that they expect the production edition to have an even better picture than what we saw (which was impressive), as they expect to push the lumens on the production model to around 1400. Of course R2 is versitle too, he can project not only on walls, but ceilings as well. Where can you get yours? Keep checking Yak, we’re working to bring you more information on how to get your own astromech!
Yakface.com is working to not only bring you information on how to obtain one, we have begun talks with Nikko so that yakface can get you R2D2 without having to go through one of the other distributors. If you are interested in obtaining one of these awesome pieces, please feel free to contact us.

Hasbro Update
February 10, 2007 | 11:41 PM EST | Mark
For all those interested.. the Titanium figure line is dead, for at least now. The last wave to hit retail is the C-3PO, General Grievous, and Clone Trooper. Hasbro has cancelled orders to all online retailers, and in talking with the reps here at Toyfair, they confirmed, that the line is not being made now. Items shown at San Diego.. “they may be seen someday”. For now.. they are done.
The exclusive coin available at Toyfair this year, WILL be available in the mail away coin set later this year as part of the 7 coin set that will have the 6 vintage figure coins as well. So please, do not pay top dollar on EBAY for these. Other than the case the coin comes in, the coin itself will be the exact same coin.
The unleashed video game figures coming are absolutely incredible. The images you will see posted, do them no justice. The Vader is outstanding, with all the pieces to put him together.
More to come tomorrow…
LEGO News
February 10, 2007 | 11:34 PM EST | Mark
Ok, here is the latest from the LEGO showroom. Images will be up soon. The LEGO Falcon. Point blank, the biggest set ever. 5100 pieces. Biggest price point sure… but here is the information right from the designers mouth. He was given a free run at creating this piece. No price point, no limitation of pieces. So how do you start this gigantic set??? Well this is what he started with. He wanted this not only to be the best set to date, but also the first Ultimate set with mini figs. There will be 5. Luke (with hippie hair style), Han, Leia, Ben, Chewy. Ok, next, not only have the 5 figures.. but make it to scale of the figures.. so where to start. The most logical choice.. the cockpit. Make this set fit 4 in the cockpit, then make the cockpit to scale of the rest of the ship. That is where this started from. Overall, the set took about 4-5 months to create. One side note. It took one full year to make the instruction manual. Like building LEGOS??? The designer took 5 days to build it, for the third time! Now.. 5100 pieces.. what is that??? how about 15lbs for the weight of the ship alone. How about how sturdy. sturdy enough for him to pick it up with one hand.. not for too long.. 15lbs is a lot to lift and hold straight out. He said this is strong enough to hang from the ceiling. The entire frame inside is built with technic and it is built like a rock. There are no NEW pieces in the set, however, when you look at the images, you will see the back top black pieces are the there for the first time in black. For a limited time you can order it with FREE shipping. Doesnt sound like a lot, but shipping on this set alone will probably range about 50 to 60. Not that bad of a deal.
As for the rest of the news. There will be a galactic hunt if you will, for the C-3PO that is gold in color (that is shinny gold) inserted into 10,000 random packs starting in June of this year. Could be anyone of the Star Wars sets coming out this year.
Also there will be a contest on the LEGO.com site, for your chance to win one of FIVE 14k gold C-3PO mini figs.
As I said, look for all these images by tomorrow. Including images of the designer holding the falcon in the air and the two different C-3POs.
Breaking Toyfair News
February 10, 2007 | 2:29 PM EST | Bill
2007 is looking great. First the vintage mail in will be a set of six coins for the six vintage figures plus a seventh 30th anniversary coin all in a case with a closure.
The galactic hunt will return this summer with greater numbers. The hunt will be for gold coins. No commitment on how many but Hasbro did say there are about 20 extra spots in the coin album and the full set with chase and convention coins will pretty much fill it up. In addition when asked if there would be exclusive coins for C 4 and Comicon or both, the answer was yes. Check back later for images of the 30th anniversary coin. The hunt coins will be gold variants of the regular coins.
Also we get the corner cantina bar piece. Luke comes with a moisture vaparator, Umpass Stay comes with half of the drum, however it is designed so that 2 halves can be put together to have both sides of it. The Force Unleashed figures from Lucasarts upcoming video game are nothing short of outstanding.
The battle damaged Vader in armor, or at least partially so with the damage is INCREDIBLE.
REMINDER Scott C. Here. Just wanted to let you all know that there’s a special Toyfair section rightHERE in our forums. Please stop on in to share your thoughts on all the coverage over the next few days!

HUGE sale at The Saber Vault! The Obi-Wan ROTS LE sale went over so well, why not do it for all the LEs!! So on sale for a limited time for the same price as the Obi ROTS is the Qui-Gon TPM LE, Sidious ROTS LE, Yoda ROTS LE, and Luke ANH LE! These are limited quantities (far less than the Obi ROTS).
If you’ve been holding out for any of these sabers, wait no more, because at these prices, they won’t last long!!
After doing a little cleaning up in the Vault, they found one Luke ROTJ Elite (#107) and on Luke ANH Elite (#319) lightsaber. UPDATE: First Look at Hasbro’s Sith Infiltrator
February 5, 2007 | 1:48 AM EST | rykrofenloe
Fans have been wondering if Hasbro’s decision to put Darth Maul’s signature vessle into the $20.00 pricepoint vehicle assortment would do the ship justice. Pics have surfaced on ebay of what appears to be a prototype of the ship that will most likely be on display at Toy Fair.
Is it too small as feared by some collectors? Or did Hasbro make the right decision on this?
Click here for more images, and thank you to forum member MasterGrievous for the heads up!
