More Cancelled Legacy Collection Figures Found

LF_DF_GO_SM

Following up on Rebelscum’s report about the previously cancelled Legacy Collection Droid Factory assortment from 2013, I hit up my local Go! Calendars | Games | Toys store and found a few of those figures as well. Looks like I just need the Clone Trooper Sergeant and Luminara Unduli to finish off the assortment that caps off the Amazon Exclusive set nicely.

Vinylmation World alerts us that in commemoration of Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary, they will be issuing an exclusive R2-D60 Droid Factory figure. It will be limited to 6000 pieces and retail for $12.95.

If you’re a build-a-droid part completist, this is an essential purchase.

Update: Our friends at The Astromech Collection pass on info that the R2-D60 will be available in a much wider release and not limited to 6000 pcs.

Toyguide Update: R5-G19 (TBS #01)

TBS_R5G19_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the addition of the R5-G19, our first entry for the 3-3/4″ Black Series (Blue) line look.

PROS: New (i.e. never before offered) figures from the Original Trilogy come few and far between these days so it’s nice to add another to the collection and scratch another off the list (Despite the less-than-accurate deco). R5-G19 recycles the Build-A-Droid/Droid Factory mold so it’s cross compatible with prior B.A.D. figures. Yay! Hasbro retired that bland black and orange card for a nicer TIE Pilot design in a more traditional 6×9 format.

CONS: The inaccuracy of the deco has ruffled a few feathers of diehard astromech collectors, as well as the use of the B.A.D. mold. Although purely anecdotal, R5-G19 has achieved Peg Warmer Status: Level 10 at most of the Toys”R”Us stores I visit.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.

Update: Droid Factory Multipack

sdccdroidfactory

Our friends at Galactic Hunter have snapped a pic from Hasbro’s booth showing a placard for an exclusive Droid Factory set coming this November for $59.99. It looks to include many of the canceled Build-A-Droids and other from the defunct Droid Factory line. Jedi Temple Archives received word at Toy Fair from Hasbro that they were trying to get these figures to the public, so it’s nice to see it’s coming to fruition.

Update: According to Galactic Hunter, the retail partner for this set is Amazon.com

New R2-MK Build-A-Droid Coming?

R2-MK_BAD

Our eagle-eyed, astromech aficionado friends at The Astromech Collection have noticed that in the recent press imagery for the new Star Wars Weekends Jedi Mickey Starfighter a new R2-MK can be seen that uses the Droid Factory/Build-A-Droid sculpt. No word if this is included with the starfighter or if it is part of a new assortment of B.A.D. parts that will be available at the park.

Disney Build-A-Droid Parts Update

One of our followers on twitter has alerted us to some Build-A-Droid news out of the Big Mouse. He is on site and is reporting that Tatooine Traders is out of all Mickey hats and only have middle legs in green available. They are also out of both styles of R3 heads, silver blue R2 and purple or blue R4 head.

Word is that they are NOT expecting another shipment of parts before the final Star Wars Weekends.

Lastly, due to the B.A.D. part shortage, they are NO LONGER selling the $18.95 two-packs. Only the single for $11.95
