We are sad to report that Daniel Fleetwood, the Star Wars fan who was diagnosed with cancer, has passed away. He was fortunate enough to have his wish granted as he was able to see a rough cut of The Force Awakens recently. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
UPDATE: A GoFundMe page has been established to help Daniel’s family with his associated medical costs. Please, donate what you can today.
Lesson Features Leia and Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as R2-D2, C-3PO and BB-8
SEATTLE, WA. and GLENDALE, CA. (Nov. 9, 2015) – Today, Code.org unveiled a Star Wars-themed computer science tutorial featuring Princess Leia, C-3PO and R2-D2 as well as Rey and BB-8 from the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The online lesson kicks off the third-annual global Hour of Codecampaign, in honor of Computer Science Education Week, December 7-13, 2015.
Social media followers caught a glimpse of these on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds earlier today, but here are 5 new character posters for The Force Awakens.
Our friends at MakingStarWars.net have posted an interesting report that Disney Licensing is no longer authorizing the likeness of Princess Leia in her prisoner outfit. This edict extends to approved Lucasfilm & Marvel artist as well (confirmed by J Scott Campbell). “Slave Leia” has been the subject of much discussion over the recent past and as you can see from the image above, this particular likeness has received its fair share of merchandise* over the years.
*Only a sampling of the extensive LFL authorized merchandise.
Yakreader Owen T. sent us the above image last night (via Facebook) from his local theater showing that the final poster for The Force Awakens are starting to arrive. Now if we could only find a reputable place that sells them.
It has awakened! Disney and Lucasfilm have released the official poster for Star Wars The Force Awakens. Watch for a new trailer tomorrow to debut during Monday Night Football on ESPN and advance ticket sales to launch as well. Head to StarWars.com for the full details and click on through for the official press release.
